Just found out about this thread....shame..shame.....i hope I'll get all I wanted in learning korean. By the way, how do you say - My Precious in korean?

Thank you!
Jaeho
Do you "precious" as in "loveable/cute" or someone you're in love with?
bsu
How would I say "That beautiful sky kingdom you always spoke of, will I ever be able to go there?"

Here's my attempt:
네가 그 언젠아 말했던 아룸다운 하늘 나라에
나 갈 수 있을까?

And one small thing, is there such a ending that looks like 셔 or 쇼? Lol, can I shorten 있었어요 to 있어쇼?

Thanks.

Actually I'm referring to something like "My Precious eg cup, handphone, car, etc, etc......." so, should I say it as in "lovable/cute".

hmm well im not an expert at korean but i am korean and speak it...that sounds right and at the end i would add "요". 있었어요 is more like a past tense
bsu
You mean add a 요 to my sentence right? That just changes the speech level. And yeah "있었어요" is past tense, I was just wondering if I could shorten it hehe :]

i dunno if you can use the word like that for non-humans...
maybe 'my really important...'?

i dunno the word...or i forgot...i dunno...
Jaeho
For "my precious (thing)" you can use this

내게 소중한 것

---

bsu:

I'd write it like

네가 언제든지 말했던 그 아름다운 하늘나라 말이야
나도 가게 될 수는 있을까?

And you can't shortern 있었어요
셔 is an attachment that makes verbs honorific with final endings. 가세요>가셔>가

I think separating each syllable makes reading slower. =/

And *a lot* people are *really* bad at romanizing Korean.

Example: They write 꽃잎 like "koch-ip" when it's pronounced like 꼰닙 "kkon-nip."

When do you know to pronounce the "ch" letter as an "n"?
Sometimes I see the "ch" letter pronounced like a "t"...

When do you know to pronounce the "ch" letter as an "n"?
Sometimes I see the "ch" letter pronounced like a "t"...

Korean is full of sound changes. There are too many rules for me to list.

꽃 is pronounced kkot instead of kkoch. A sound like kkoch is impossible in Korean anyway.

Another example = 독립 is pronounced dong-nip

---

가게 될 수는 있을까 is literally "Will there ever be a possiblity of me getting to go" I know it sounds weird in English...

갈 수 있을까 is "will I be able to go"

Both are good to use

---

Foreigner is 외국인 (wegugin)
and 외국사람 (weguksaram)

I like it:
Same thing except without the __
Teh been
Dong wan
Heh suhng
Mee noo
Juhn jeen
Bee
Eeh Dong Guhn
Hwa nee

Obviously you shouldn't pronounce "dong" like the English dong. lol Or "wan" like "whine"... =/

I mean... whoever thinks Dong rhymes with thong is an idiot.

Ok..this is a bit confusing. Sorry I'm so stupid. ok
so Heh rhymes with Teh right?
and Suhng sounds like sung?
Juhn and Guhn rhymes with moon?
Eeh sounds like lee without the "l"?
Hwa sounds like hua?

Thanks!
