Is ieyo the same as iseyo?
Ieyo is use when you're saying something is something else right? And when you want to ask for someone like Pak sonsaengnim iseyo? aren't you saying You are Pak sonsaengnim right? Then could you say Pak sonsaengnim ieyo?

And I don't really understand the object -sub-topic marker. Could you say "obj.-verb" or does it have to be "topic/sub - obj. - verb?" But then if you could say "obj.-verb" couldn't the object be considered the subject?

And when you have to change the sound of a syllable depending on the ending when you pronouce it like Hankukmal would be pronounce hankungmal, do you get the hnag of it easily??

Does the -ending make sense? I've heard alot of things used but I never got to organize them in my head. I'm not on crack :'[

heyyy joyce !!! i think master would be.. hmm.. 사범님(sa-buhm-nim) ?? cuz they're the people that teach martial arts =) you always put the surname in front.. so like 'Kim sa buhm nim' (김사범님) to recognize who they are and what they do. ^^


ieyo is NOT the same as iseyo. iseyo would be the ending to a question, whereas ieyo is a statement.
however, in the example you have mentioned, both would be correct,
but since you're not sure of the person you are talking to on the phone, you would say 'iseyo' because it is more formal and polite ^^

i don't know what object-sub-topic marker is ^^; cuz i just learn it.. i don't really learn the english equivalents lol.

what do you mean by 'get the hang of it' ?? well, when you romanize, you just write how it would be pronounced.. well since there are lot of ways to romanize Korean, it gets confusing. (okay now i'm just confusing myself.)

and that ending does exist, but mostly when you're talking about someone else.. like 'she must be _____(formal)' then it would be 'ge nyoh neun _____ ha shi gu nah'... do you get it ? =)

Whew! I prefer a pretty word like 마음 rather than 성격/인격

iseyo is only used when talking about another person, never about yourself. It is a more polite way of saying ieyo. iseyo is the best choice when talking about others.

Kim JiMin ieyo / Kim JiMin ieyo? = I am Kim JiMin / You are (She is) Kim JiMin / Are you (Is she) Kim JiMin?

Kim JiMin iseyo / Kim JiMin iseyo? = You are (She is) Kim JiMin / Are you (Is she) Kim JiMin?

It's not Hankungmal... It's more like Han-gung-mal although it's written Han-Gug-Mal. You won't get the hang of sound changes unless you learn them.

HI, on my spare time, I work at this korean grocery store. Unfortunately, I dont know how to speak in korean so well, well almost nothing. I just know few words . The thing is that there are lots of customers who dont speak in english as well, so can you guys tell me some helpful sentences in a grocery store.

What is the difference between gamsahamnida and kovmavayo?
On what cases do u use them?
What is the difference between ani and shiro?
What does mashimaseyo mean?
What does dah nag ah sah yo mean?

how do we say ur welcome when someone says gamsahamnida/kovmavayo?
what's the difference between oppa, ajashi, agashi?

gamsahapnida is more formal than komawayo. like thank you and thanks.
hmmm i say gamsahapnida to people wayyy older than me.
i say komawayo to people upperclassmen but not adults.
and just say komawuh to friends/people younger than me.

ani is more like no. shiro is more like i dont like it.

mashimaseyo? i have no clue.

dah nag ah sah yo? im guessing 다 나가세요? hmm im used to hearing dah naga joo say yo (다 나가주세요) but it means everyone please get out. haha.

Should I just say uppso/uppsoyo???

'upso' is informal, and most likely the customers you're talking to are people you hardly know.
therefore you'd say 'upsoyo', because this is the formal way of speaking.
or you could say 'yoghurt opneundaeyo' which basically means 'we don't have yoghurts' but in a more casual way.. it's not as uptight as saying 'upsoyo' because if you say that it might seem a little rude and blatant. =)

There's really no difference.
It means the same thing, except you use those at certain situations.

They both mean (Noun) love you.

if you just use it without putting any noun in front of it to someone, then you are saying " I love you"

as jiwon was saying about those 'h's.. well it depends on the sound itself. in some words, eg. 'dahn bahl' meaning 'bowlcut/shorthaircut', the H must be in there, otherwise it will make a 'dan bal' sound, which is too.. non korean.
well as the korean language uses the 'h' alot in its romanization, that's the best way i can explain it. =)


saranghaeyo and saranghamnida are the same thing.. except the first is polite informal, whereas the second is polite formal.
the latter is the MORE formal expression, and it can kind of depend on the situation. =)
