I don't really mind him actually. When he first got famous back in 2003(?) I thought he made Asians look bad.
BUT, few years later and I think about it, society isn't that stupid to consider stereotyping all Asians to be like him.
Unfortunately for those who do, because I know there are, shows their ignorance.
It's really sad to see people misjudging him when he didn't do anything bad.

If there are people who are racist against Asians or stereotypes us in anyways, most likely it wouldn't have disappeared even if William Hung was the greatest Asian on earth. He's making money doing what's he's doing and it's his life. He doesnt have to think about the whole Asian population. she said after his "hit" on american idol, he thought that he was so much better than everyone else that he would act he's a real celeb and ignore the ppl he used to know...gosh

he did gain weight and I admit he doesn't make me swoon or anything. it's his life. if he wants to keep on pushing toward singing I have no comment about that but I'm not a fan. hopefully one day he will realize that people are laughing at him and he will just be smart and move on with life and without singing

There is always going to be stereotypes and racist comments everywhere. William Hung is doing what he likes, and he probably knows that he sucks at singing. So what? He's getting a lot of attention and a lot of mulah for singing badly. I think that he's smart because he's trying to get his last 10 minutes of fame and trying to make as much money as possible before his ride to fame is over. If I got paid millions or thousands just to sing badly, hell I would so doo it!! haha.

Oh gosh, that gave me a laugh. William Hung gained more weight now. He gained a lot after American Idol, but he packed on a couple more pounds.

Anyways, he should take vocal lessons if he really wants to learn to sing. He did get a $25 million dollars contract if I remember correctly.

Everyone is saying that's he's ugly, but if he got surgery, he'll look just like all the other stars out there. Appearances can be changed, as sad as that sounds. It's just that I'm not too sure about his singing.

I kind of agree with se7ense7ense7en, the problem is that William Hung is essentially the only representative for Asian males in American media aside from several martial artists.



This is because Britney and Paris aren't the only white representatives; there are many other white celebrities who don't have such a bad rep as those two.

I can barely name 5 Asian males in the entertainment business other than martial artists that represent us positively in American media. I don't hate Hung, doesn't seem like a bad guy, but it's unfortunate that he only reinforced America's stereotypes cast upon Asians. If you've ever seen American Idol, there are many many singers who are just as crappy and funny as William--but they weren't Asian. If William Hung wasn't Asian do any of you think he would have gained the same amount of "success" as he has?


When you turn on the TV, all the other races are there--whites, blacks and hispanics. Asians are always on the sideline, and roles are limited for us just because of our race. That's also why you see so many Asian stars that came from America, because the chance that they, as an Asian, would be accepted by America, is limited. William Hung's not a bad guy, but the bottom line is that there needs to be more Asians that positively represent us in the US entertainment industry in order to help give young Asian-Americans someone to look up to and to help break racial barriers.
