Westlife is an Irish vocal pop group created in 1998 as a "boy band" (signed by music guru Simon Cowell), and managed by music mogul Louis Walsh. The group has proven extremely successful in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and rest of the Europe, and are also relatively popular in Africa, Australia, Asia and Latin-America. In recent albums the group's sound has evolved from teen pop to adult contemporary.
The group has had fourteen UK #1 singles between the years 1999 and 2006, the third-highest such total in UK history, behind Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and tied with Cliff Richard. Westlife is also the only band in UK chart history to have entered straight at number one with their first seven singles. They are also the only artist/group to win 'Record Of The Year' in the UK four times (often attributed to their loyal fanbase). The group has so far sold more than 34 million records [citation needed] over 40 countries worldwide.
Moreover, Westlife have been awarded the Best Irish Pop Act for the consecutive seventh year on February 2, 2007. It shows the group's popularity in the country.

Nicky Byrne:
Nicholas Bernard James Adam Byrne (born 9 October 1978 in Dublin, Ireland), known as Nicky Byrne, is the oldest member of popular Irish pop band Westlife. He is from Baldoyle, in County Dublin. He has a younger brother Adam (born 10 March 1990) and an older sister Gillian (born 5 April 1976).
Kian Egan:
Cian John Francis Egan, known as Kian Egan, is one of four (previously five) members of Irish boy band Westlife. He was born Cian on 29 April 1980 in Sligo, Ireland.
Mark Feehily:
Marcus Michael Patrick Feehily (born 28 May 1980 in Sligo, Ireland), better known as Mark Feehily, is a member of the popular Irish boyband, Westlife.
He has two younger brothers named Barry and Colin Feehily. His parents are Marie Verdon and Oliver Feehily.
In Westlife's music, Mark is distinctive for his rich, soulful voice, which is prominently featured in all of Westlife's hits, together with Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan have less solos.
Shane Filan:
Shane Steven Filan is a member of the Irish pop band Westlife. Filan is one of the four (formerly five) original Westlife members, along with other current members Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Nicky Byrne. Before Westlife, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily were with Shane in a band known as I.O.U. with other Sligonians Derrick Lacey, Graham Keighron and Michael "Miggles" Garrett.
He grew up in Sligo, a large town in the northwest of Ireland. He was born on July 5, 1979 to Peter and Mae Filan. He is the youngest of seven children. He has three brothers and three sisters: Finbarr, Peter Jr, Yvonne, Liam, Denise and Mairead. His parents owned a diner in Sligo named Carlton Cafe located on Castle Street and Shane used to work there as a waiter from a very early age. When Peter and Mae decided to close the cafe in 2003, Shane bought it back and turned it into a clothes shop. Shane is a big fan of Michael Jackson and even learned how to moonwalk. Shane married his childhood sweetheart, Gillian Walsh (Kian's cousin), on Sunday December 28, 2003 at Ballintubber Abbey. Followed by a lavish reception at Ashford Catle, Ireland.
Shane's wife Gillian gave birth to their first child on July 23, 2005, a daughter whom they named Nicole Rose Filan. Nicole weighed 5lbs 7ozs and was born at Sligo General Hospital (the same weight as her father when he was born). Her rumoured godfather is Shane's Westlife bandmate Nicky Byrne.
