Not exactly new but I recommend South border 's "Love of my life", and "Too Crazy"
They're a filipino R&B band, but a New York record label took notice of them and they're going to try the US market. They sing in english and have amazing vocals, but I hate how they try to act ghetto now like in their video "Sweet". The sng's catchy though.

I also recommend a couple of piano songs by Yiruma called "Kiss the Rain" and "River flows in you". There's no singing, but the songs are lovely.

people in soompi should really get into The Cure. if there is any one song you MUST listen to by them is "Pictures of You". if you listen to only that song and nothing else, i'll be happy. that song has got to be one of the most beautifully written and composed songs i've ever heard.

K-OS: Sunday Morning; Born to Run; Vanhalla. Funky, innovative hip-hop pop.

Nickel Creek: Helena; Spit on a Stranger. Folk-pop, produced by Alison Krauss. Their Pavement cover (Spit on a Stranger) is fantastic.

The Fratellis: Baby Fratelli; Everyone Knows You Cried Last Night. Shameless, almost smugly fun Scottish indie rock.

The Shins: Phantom Limb; Sea Legs; Australia. Catchy, well-written music--gets stuck in your head all day.

Mika: Love Today; Grace Kelly. Think The Darkness blended with Queen--flamboyant, exhuberant rock. It doesn't get anymore insanely catchy than Grace Kelly.

Not sure how many of you guys know him but he's only 19, sounds like a raspier version of Gavin Degraw. As much as his voice sounds too mature for his age and pretty demeanour, it's gotta very distinct flavour, can't exactly put it in words. Definitely worth a listen though.

For starters, try Last Request, pretty popular single I think. If your looking for a lighter and brighter alternative to Damien Rice(whom I absolutely adore as well) I think you'll like this one.
