I was planning to get my nails done for a formal event
but I was planning on using my own nails but stick like gems and stuff on it?
is that bad for your nail? should I get fake nails instead?

Generally doing your nails (nailpolish) isn't too good but most of us here do it anyway...
I find that gems on real nails don't stick on as well as on fake nails.
For the best results, do it at a salon and get the gems encased in your acrylic/gel nails. It looks better and it lasts longer. but much more expensive. OR you could stick the gems on and seal the gaps (between the gemstone and your nail) with lots of clear nail polishes, and reaply every 2~3 days or so. (That's what I do)

and yes having long/acrylic/gel/fake nails are a bother, I usually get sick and tired of my fake nails within days and try to pry them off. hard to type, hard to apply lip balm, hard to wash hair, hard to hold a pen.. etc.

but they look great though! I love long nails...

I also went to the nail supply place and got some diamonds (like with star, teardrop, and reg circles in different size ect.) it was expensive tho TT-TT, I ended up spending over 30+ dollars, but I suppose it will last a long time


& I also got this really cool 3d flower petals thing. I'll bring it to the salon so they can put it on me because I don't want to miss it up and waste it ; hahah
& some opi nail polish for only 3.50; ahah; it's soo much cheaper than ultra or if you buy at the salon

I have a question here for those of you who wear fake nails.

Don't they get in the way when you write (or do anything basically)?? I tried fake nails before but I couldnt stand them. It makes me feel somewhat handicapped. =X Also, do you guys keep the original lengths or do you shorten them a bit by filing? Where can I buy those fake nails online?

it really depends on the type of polish you're using, like the color
because i tried it with clear polish with glitter/sparkles/ect in it, and it didn't turned out good.. or noticable

i tried looking back in the thread but i can't find it
so many pages >,<

but i remember what the girl had wrote
1. choose a color (non-solid) polish and paint it halfway on the nail
2. let it dry and paint another coat
(the girl said to do this for 3 coat but i only did 2 b/c it was dark/thick already)
3. don't let the last coat dry fully and using a clear top coat and brush backward
4. clean the clear polish around the nail (b/c you def will get some clear on your skin XD)

i also tried the fading thing.. but i'm not patient enough..and ended up having to redo it...and it still sucked!!

lol i failed miserably trying to follow this tutorial
when i go over the second coat of colored polish with the clear coat to make the fade effect..
it looks really chunky and not.. pretty lol
maybe its because i use cheap nail polish -__-

i think it would be easier to do it. let it be chunky. and while it's still partly wet and chunky. push the nail polish down. and apply clear polish. then it would be smooth.
