OMG I love this thread... anyways. i just have a couple of questions

WEll I do my own nails and I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good website where they teach you step by step on how to do some designs???(specifically japanese nails) also I really want to know how to do the two color french nails, does anyone know how to do that??

I also wanted to purchase some magazines especially Japanese ones, but they don't really sell it here, and if they do it's super expensive...for example like Nail Max. Nail Max is only 500 yen in Japan, but they sell it for like 20 dollars on Ebay

also the 3D nails... I've purchased it, but I don't know how to apply them does anyone know how to??

I also bought some brushes to do better designs, but they don't work that well, and I'm guessing it's because of the nail polish I'm using. does anyone know of a good nail polish company that's not too expensive... I know OPI is really good, but they're too expensive.

I love Japanese nails... it's like my obsession right now ^^

kpjgurl424,the 3D art on my nails are actually stickers ^^ . When i first bought them,i tot they wouldn't pop out that much but after putting it on,it's just like acrylics! XD

It was to celebrate chinese new years. So there was this fund raising thing after church
and all these asian ladies who worked at salons voluntered to do nails. =D

But anyways, thanks for trying them out, because i'm going to order my templates now.

for those who have acrylics and wear contacts
how the heck do you get your contacts out??
i did the DIY acrylics since they come off after a couple days and it was a pain in the butt to try to take out my contacts

My nails break easily too

I apply nail strengthener once a day, or once every 2 days. It helps a lot.

Well, with contacts, you actually use your finger.. tips... not nails.

When I took off my contacts, I slid the lenses down, and then, used my thumb and index pads to pull the contacts into a "V" shape to take it out.... sounds weird, but it works. BE CAREFUL though, you don't want to scratch your eyes. I just completely stopped wearing my lenses when I did my nails, or file it down really short.

O, and reminder again... WASH your hands and fingernails!!

I normally apply OPI ChipSkip - Nail Lacquer Chip Preventer & OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener before my base coat, since it really helps preventing chipping nails or breakage. I have REALLY thin nails, but they've improved lately.

^ I saw those at Daiso a long time ago and thought they were really cute. But it sucks because I have abnormally small nails, so i can only get acrylics done. Lols.

Any recommendations on which brand of strengthener? I was looking at Sally Hansen's strenthener but wasn't sure which one to get.

I use Hard as Nails as well but the bottles looks a bit different than the one you show me. It works fine but whenever my nails start to grow out they crack or start to split, and it's only on my right hand.

I'm in the process of trying to stop the habit and was wondering...
Even if I do grow out my nails, will they ever look like the nails of someone who never bit them?
I'm worried that my nails will only grow to a certain extent.

You know how the white tips usually start from the end of your fingertips?
Well, since my nails are so short, when the white tips DID start appearing, they were still below my fingertips.
Did that make any sense? ^^;;

Have you tried nail biting polish stuff? It's like bitter if you bite your nails
so it really worked for my friend.
You can try acrylics or fake nails for awhile so that you can't bite on them.
