QUESTION! I saw this posted outside of a nail salon.

whats the difference between hot oil, spa and regular set?
what the heck is a china silk!?
oil = hot oil = oil manicure. they probably just stick ur hand into cuticle oil or some kind of oil and do a manicure for you. hot oil is when they heat it up.
spa = water. like spa pedicure, you sit in a massaging chair and water comes out in a pool. etc.
regular set = acrylics.

Can someone tell me if its necessary to use Konads nail polish for their stamp designs or can we use our own nail polish?

konad's nail polish is kinda rubber-y...allowing it to transfer from the stamp to your nails..i dunno about regular nail polish, but i remember bunny tried it before and it came out fine..just lighter?
~ BunnyliciouS ~
Apr 23 2008, 12:44 PM
yeah, regular nail polish works, but the result is not bold, it comes out lighter / a bit sheer because regular nail polish is watery, not thick like Konad nail polish.
Some people said very old nail polish could do the trick. I dunno, never tried it out.

Ah ok, cuz i've been getting my nails done for years and starting to get sick of the inconveniency. I have alot of nail polish so i thought it'll be pointless to buy more for the Konad stuff =( But thanks for letting me know! =D

regular nail polish is toxic also.
so acrylic is pretty much 2x worse as nail polish.
u should go to school. but if u get ur nails done alot, and u know how to do it, practice will make it perfect.
acrylics are pretty out right now, gels are in. BUT acrylic designs are in.

i love browsing this thread
people are so creative with their nails!
i've been wanting to have nail art pens but i can't find any here in the Philippines,
so one night, after getting inspiration from this thread, i did a freehand drawing of hearts on the upper right of each nail using the usual nail polish[the one with the thick brush],having the gold nail polish as the base
here's a pic.

i usually keep my nails short cuz of photography
if ur wondering why my pic has a credit,it's becuz i got so fascinated that i submitted it on my deviantart account

uhm. if u put it on, your actual nail itself soaks the chemicals in. LOL. so, yeah. ur nail already gets it.
the skin, at least u can wash it off.

Just wondering, do any of you guys use the store bought nails? I usually get mine done at a nail salon but it's so expensive that I can't keep doing it all the time!! It costs like 45 dollars each time I do it because I like to go all out with my acrylics.

i see some people that i used to work with+ some of my patients at work have them.. they get the plain glue on ones at the drug store or nail supply shops (not the tips, the whole nail), and file them to fit their nail perfectly, then design them to their liking. thats convenient bc you can change your nail sets whenever you want, and take em off and reuse them whenever.. however (not positive about this) but those little tape padding to stick on your nails doesnt seem that stable. i assume if you lightly hit something, it would come off.. i even see some premade ones online that are gorgeous!! i would love to buy. but.. yeah, i dont want it falling off every so often. thats weird.

For my nails (previous page) I got a bunch of supplies from ebay, 1000 fake nails for 20$, 4000 rhinestones for $15ish and nail cutters and glue for about $5.00
With that I can make 100 pairs of nails~ Super cheap considering the supplies only cost about $40.00

I think it would look better if both hands and feet match the color... I was going to do that once but the lady said it will look better if I do matching color and so ask the nail lady that you are going to get your nail done at.

after you apply fake nails, just the ones you like glue on,
not the ones tht you get at the salon and have to get all the refils and everything on,
does it ruin your actual nail?
my stepmom keeps telling me it will and keeps on trying to stop me from getting them
but i wanna get them this weekend, so does it olike warp your nail and ruin it?

It doesn't warp your nail or ruin your nail as long as you remove it the correct way - never ever rip them off or force them off, use a special product that "dissolves" the fake nail or makes it softer so it will come off without any force.
It is probably wise to use some sort of nail strengthener still, just in case. Plus nails look better if they are healthy anyways

May I ask some of you soompiers who get acrylics done if you develop brown dots on your acrylics? They look like tiny brown dots. Sorta like acid fell on your nails and dissolved the acrylic a tiny abit so there's a ditch where the brown dot is; or an air bubble that rose to the surface of the acrylic and popped (if that is possible). It doesn't occur all over your nails but probably 1-5 on a nail and not on every nail. Weird.
I don't always get this everytime and its hardly noticeable but when I do, Its hella annoying! I've been doing my nails for 3 years and I only started to have this problem this year. (or maybe I didnt notice before?)
Someone please let me know. Its bugging the crap outta me. I didn't get my nails done for it be ruined within afew days. Even though Its not noticetable, it makes me feel crap.
