terri: yes they're the ones i got last week! now i have glitter pastel powders as well as neon colors. i'm soo happy
meshi: thanks! i worked my butt off haha. i'm not ambidextrious so it made things super hard.
mmitsjojo: yes, i used powders. they're about the only things you can use to sculpt 3d nail art.
what other materials did you use besides the colored acrylic powder? is it possible for me to know the names of the items because i'm trying to purchase the items but i don't know what they're called. Or if you bought it on a website, is it possible for you to link me?
thanks!

well you can't use the powder unless you have the monomer (hence, it's called liquid and powder). monomer is expensive as hell (around $14 for 2 oz). i mixed some of my powders for colors. the base polymer i use is a clear polymer from a company called EzFlow. i use a nail primer from the same company. i also use a nude/neutral-pink ish for french manciures from creative in the "clear" color. the brands of monomer i use are kiss (kinda cheap but smelly and lifts), EzFlow, Alpha 9 and nailene. i use different ones because i found each one makes a different consistency when mixed with my polymers. beauty supply stores have these items in a variety of fully sizes or there are some trial kits you can try out. they have a small powder, a small monomer, a brush and some tips to help you get used to l&p and let you experiment with different brands for a low price (usually $10 for the whole set).
i'm gonna stop right there and stop talking about my supplies. i was gonna go into brushes, files, glues, types of tips, types of forms and stuff. i got caught up in a tangent. if you wanna know more just pm me hahaha.

honestly, you just get used to it and it's like typing with no long ass nails. except your fingers are a little less sensitive to the keyboard.

I've been doing my nails lately but I never got round posting them cos I'm too lazy. So here's from last week and this week. I think.. Heheh..
June 8Left hand

Right hand (plain pink polish)
June 15I had the same design for both hands cos the stamping bit was easy since I just stamp them randomly.
June 17Left hand. I removed this right after cos it was too messy. I redid them with the same design but with a base colour that matches my right hand.

right hand. I found some old sticky thick glitter polish and used it as the tip. So easy to work with. Lol!

all nail glue generally works the same. your nails probably come off easily because there are air bubbles. apply the glue to the natural nail AND the false nails and don't let either of them dry prior to applying false nails.
you can use fake nails more than once. but that in no way means you should. it's definitely not hygenic (i'm not sure it'll cause any long or short term problems that are severe), it won't look as good as they did the first time, and removal won't be too pretty either.

don't mind that i have fat fingers and a splotch of white out on my hand or my camera strap (self timers suck). the colors are more transparent than bright , but they're uv acrylics so they get bright in the sun and with tungsten flashes (camera flashes) for some reason but not other types of lighting

WhoooA so many nails ~!
Some are kinda ... scary looking but very pretty designs on most of them.
New to this whole nail scene. I'm considered getting my nails done for my Formal ~
But are most of these nails simply just glued onto your real nails?
Or are they actually painted on your real nails?

Hey guys! I just have a question. Recently I've been researching nails a lot, and I'm confused about gel nails. Are they really more healthy and convenient than acrylics? Are they more expensive? And also, how do you remove gel nails?
Haha, sorry for all the questions, I just wanna have a clear picture in my head.

technically, they sorta do
like how your pores can't be blocked with too much whatever on it, nails need to be exposed to air, too
or they rot
sooziezoo
Jun 21 2008, 09:33 AM
well since we're getting technical, then technically, nails don't breathe then, right? they don't have their own set of lungs and i'm pretty sure "air" doesn't flow in and out of them regularly.
and, i heard on this one body show on discovery health that your hair and hails keep growing even after you're dead and buried. they don't continuously grow forever, but they still grow, so they won't rot under the circumstances of no "air".
i keep quoting air because the air is made of a mixture of gases, as it was previously assumed that it's soley oxygen.
i'm almost 100% sure that nails don't need sunlight. i'm not going to keep just my nails in the shade every time i head outside, but i'm pretty confident in making the assumption that my nails aren't plants and don't do photosynthesis.
(i'm arguing for the sake of aruging and correct me on anything if i'm wrong hahaha)

^ your hair and nails do not grow after you die
it's because you're dehydrated and your skin begins to recede so it looks like your nails/hair = longer even though they're not

have at your debate with discovery health. i also don't know the full facts or remember the whole thing i was watching but i think they said your hair constantly grows as does your nails. they said it doesn't grow at the same rate, however they do grow. i'm on your side though. i had a feeling it couldn't be true, but i don't care enough to look it up.

true.

FICTION: Nails have to breathe every once in a while.
FACT: Nails do not breathe and do not get tired. Nails are built up with keratin (a protein and trace minerals, not calcium). Nails are non-living tissue and can be fed as much as they breathe!

At first, I thought they did breathe, I learned something new today!!!~
PunchNine
Jun 21 2008, 12:16 PM
they don't breathe technically but they do get stained and damaged by the chemicals (nail glue, nail polish ..etc)
so it really isn't good to wear nail polish often.
