Everyone's nails are soo pretty!

anyone know any good nail salons in NYC? I want to get my nails done but I can't find any good salons that make nice designs like:

but i have to take it off now because i have an awards ceremony tomorrow night.

AGAIN, my nails break on me. I have such WEAK nails. Anyone know anything to strengthen my nails?

ermm try some nail strengtheners?? keeping a basecoat (clear nailpolish) on your nails a lot keeps it really strong too..

it's really sloppy T_T i am really lazy haha and i bashed my hand once and was too lazy to redo =/

go out and buy whats that thing called... Nail Tek.. they have base and top coat but you'll only need the base coat and put it on every day.. yep.. it should work from what I've seen.. I work at a nail shop.. so yahh

My mom works at a nail shop too and has Nail Tek. I'll give it a try.

I'm going to try to replicate that now.lol. I have those nail art pens too (from ebay). They're good for making designs but they don't last long. They chip off and whatnot so I'd have to apply lots of clear coats nail polish over it.

hmm really?? mine don't chip that much O_o i usually go base coat, color, nail art, and then top coat.. haha xD

question:
- has anyone tried those "nail polish stickers" (not sure what they're called) that you can just rub onto your nail and it looks like a perfect coat of polish? i remember a commercial for it and april was showing it on the tyra show, but i forgot the name of the company. i'm curious to see if they turn out nice.

- also, what are some things you want to look for when looking for a manicurist (sp?) ... i've been wanting to get a manicure for a while now because i can never do my right hand ... but there are so many nail salons, how do i know if they're good? not that many people i know get their nails done, so i can't really ask them.

All those flowers are inspiring me to make my nails. But right now I'm on with french. When I do get to wear the flower. I'll post one for sure.

those are my nails. ^__^ i only went to one nail salon in NYC which is in SoHo i forgot where.. but it was my first time. lol when I did my pedicure.. I was so scared to let her massage it or just even touch my feet because I feel ticklish.

One of my relative's relative works at a nail salon in Brooklyn. I think she does good nails too. It was in Avenue U I think. Can't remember. >__<

For your information, I live in NYC when I was 6 years old now I'm 22 this year. And I've never did my nails in a nail salon. lol I just buy a bunch of nail polish and do my nails at home.
(except the one that I go to NYC once.)

i've tried them! =] i got mine from avon! I really like them!! no more waiting for so fricken long for it to dry~ they're really easy too!! on my first try i got it on perfect.. it looked so nice too! i was like wow~~!!
i really recommend them for a fast & easy manicure! i just suggest you don't try scratching them off (habits -0-;;) because it ripped off a layer of my nail O_o..

1) start off with a clear coat.
2) At the tip.. left/right polish it vertically half way to the middle.
Then Repeat right to left middle.
Same goes with thin brush.
3) Last top it off with another clear coat.

I hope that helps? If not keep practicing it.

can u remove them w/ just nail polish remover or do u have to have a special remover?

^ you can just take it off with regular nail polish remover

i have to say this: NYC nailpolishes are amazing beyond belief here, they're like...93-97 CENTS and they dont chip. easy to apply, pretty colors, cheap, and seriously, i wear nailpolish for 2 weeks, and there was a teeny weeny little chip off my thumb finger, its amazing, you guys seriuosly need to try them out!

The flower looked like Hawaii style. So pretty!!!

ughh. I wore about three coats of nail polish for about a week (two pale pink layers, one clear coat), and now my nails are weird. The nail beds are shorter and wider now. My nails really look like guy nails, and it's not good. >___>" anyone know how to fix this?

Did this last night. My nails are now short.. that's because I'm a waitress and a lot of time it chips for about 8/9 days of work. If I don't cut/shorten my nails it will be annoying.

that's like mine now minus the blue/purple. The tips are black but I painted the rest white while you left it clear and also added a black pattern on the white and for the 4th and index finger, the tips are white and the patterns are black.. haha that sounds confusing ><

I don't put bright colors to work except just French. My nails are hard for some reason. I think.. I drink too much whole milk when I was little. And plus I wash my hands too much and bussing the tables. I guess that's why the nails are a little chipped.

I'd like to know when you put on fake nails, do you have to file down your natural nails so you don't see the tip of it when you look from the back of your fake nails? Also, are there anything else such as before & after care, preperations and such to do? Tips and tricks are much appreciated ^-^

becuase i tried nailart with round tip and it just looks odd! and plus do those stick on nails fall off? i tired stick on and they always got caught in my hair. T_T what about the glue ones?

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Almost every time I paint my nails, I end up getting these little bubbles. I've tried so many things, at first I thought it was my top coat, because I'd only get them after my top coat dried. Then, on one nail which I didn't put top coat on, I got them anyways. I've tried shaking my bottle of nail polish less, making sure I have no traces of nail polish remover on my nail before putting on polish. I've tried a couple different brands [Revlon, my favorite, also Maybelline, Sally Hansen] and I still get them.

So...yeah. Help?

kinda hard to see, but i did my friends nails at 3am.. took me an hr to do them but they came out looking SOOOOOO nice... i'm jealous i couldn't do them on my own nails.. LOL

base colour: sparkly pink
tips: pearl white
decoration: (middle: flower gem in dark pink and light pink)
(sides: light green nail dots for leaves, n' 2 crystals )

after going through this thread this yesterday morning (3:40 am - 5:20 ish am), I did my nails.
LOL. It's not as awesome-ly awesome as everybodies's but, yeah.

black designs on bat, skull and spade made with ultra fine tip shappie. I don't have a black nail polish/pen.

pinky: purple base with bat design
ring: sparkly red base with white skull
middle: white base with cello clef and music notes
pointer: sparky red base with white spade design (black shappie outline bleed through)


thumb: purple base with white heart and cross bones

my dumb digi cam wouldn't focus so you can't really see the details.
So I shall attempt more nail art desings when I'm sane enough to focus.

how much do you put on o.o?? i usually paint on two thin layers
i find that just slabbing a bunch of it on makes bubbles >_<

DO NOT SHAKE THE NAIL POLISH. just take out the brush and swirl the inside (gently). what kind of nail polish brand you're using?

I have Sally Hansen, Kiss, Wet n Wild, L'Oreal (Bi Jou Gems), and Revlon (which it just sits there and I don't use it., a bright pink nail polish that I used awhile ago.. called Sinful Colors Professional. I brought that from Walgreens I think it was $1 something.

I WANT FRENCH TIPS w/ Black dots T_T
