who from soompi goes there? i wanted to hear the pros and cons...ive made up my mind to major in industrial design...anyone else majoring/planning to major in that field?
sunshine4ever
^I go there and I'm graduating this semester, but I'm not in the same major as you are.

Anyway, the pros and cons won't be good for you if we are not in the same major. I think CSULB has one of the greatest programs for the Liberal Studies major. But if you want to learn more about industrial design, check out the website: http://www.csulb.edu/depts/design/

Are you going to commute or stay in the dorms?
Bambee08
i go to csulb. i'm in the nursing program so i don't really go to classes on campus. but the school is okay imo...they have neat events and things, but i'm sure it's the same for other schools. i don't know how it is for your major. sweatingbullets.gif

one of the things i really hate about the school is the parking! so much staff lots in the most convenient places..but general parking is so far from everything. dry.gif
bombshell
sunshine4ever: i actually checked out their site already, and any other sites that included information on the school and its people. thank u though. im going to commute btw

Bambee08: are u serious.....i hate walking lol. how are the people there? i heard csulb is one of the better calstates

yea but it's okay..there's a shuttle that makes its rounds. sweatingbullets.gif hmm the people....well the people i've met so far are pretty nice. then again, it's going to be like that anywhere you go. happy.gif
MissMonika
I go there also. I'm currently undeclared but am leaning towards Linguistics. I was going to do nursing but realized it wasn't my thing. Yes, parking is awful, especially after 10:00 AM. *bleh* X_X
bombshell
mann..... i guess not many people know much about/attend csulb. thank u to those who have given me a response. its helped change my mind. but just in case, i think im going to visit the campus sometime during the summer to get a feel of what the campus is likee
sunshine4ever
^I thought you were talking about your major? lol. Anyway, the school's good. You need to be specific about what it was that you wanted us to tell you then we can help you. I like the school, and you know what? Our school ranked 3rd or something in the state colleges?

You can read more on our school's lifestyle here?
http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/students2/sld/

I dunno how to reply to you unless you're specific about what it is you wanted to know. But the school has a large population of people, so when you go there, expect it to be big, and a lot of people going back and forth from different streets. It is actually smaller than UCI despite the fact that we have more students. I guess we just have enough parkings, but there has been some expansion for parkings though. I just didn't use the new parkings so I wouldn't know how nice they are, but we have an expansion for parkings, so don't worry about the parking part.
bombshell
oh. i just wanted to know who in soompi is currently in csulb's industrial program. and i also wanted to hear about the pros and cons of the school, if u do go to that school.

ive done further research....and i think im just gonna stick to csulb.
HIP2thaHOP
well im still a junior in hs, and i went to their kaleidoscope thing they had on saturday, since my cousin from WA is planning on going to LB. the campus is nice, but yea the parking is small and far from the things. The pyramid thing is really cool smile.gif, the computer place there is nice too, the comfortable sofas biggrin.gif haha, and the people are really nice there. That is a calstate i would apply to biggrin.gif

I also wanted to major in Industrial Design at CSULB. I don't currently attend there but I've done a lot of research on it and visited the campus. But I've concluded to it that I can't stick with that major. Simply because the community college I attend right now doesn't even offer half of the pre-requisite courses that I need before going in as a Junior. But now I'm leaning towards Graphic Design. Just hope that you don't as well plan on transferring because I don't think many community colleges offer the pre-requisites that are needed for that major.

I am afraid to go to Cal State Long Beach. Since its so big, and I don't like big confronation. I was thinking of going to LBCC for two years and transfer. Counselor with my grades, I shouldn't have a problem. I was thinking of joining the nursing program. Two more year baby. I be there soon enough.

I am going to be a Junior when school starts. Besides my grandma is forcing me to go there, since its close to the house. >.>
So if I don't get in, its WHAMP!
forevergina13
can anybody tell me what is part of the application process? does it require an essay to apply as a freshman undergraduate?
Lebanese_Blonde
^

Though I transferred to CSULB from a community college, I doubt you'll have to write an essay as a freshman undergrad.

Anyone attending UNI 100 right now??? XD
PowerPopJon

I don't know what other choirs they have but I'm going to audition for the jazz choir D:
My highschool choir teacher said they might need a recommendation but I don't know much about that.
I think you need to be able to sight read if you are going to be competing.

WHERE ARE YOU 49'ERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!?!?!?
songielove
I don't attend CSULB, but i absolutely loved it!.. it was my 2nd choice though. -Though it was my first for my CSU campuses! Still, the campus is lovely and welcoming.. The application doesn't require an essay, easy submission actually. And very convenient if you plan to apply for other CSU campuses also. happy.gif should be very simple for you!*
rit_chan
took me forever to find a csulb thread. D:

so i'm going to csulb this fall as a freshman >u<
anyone attending too? how are the dorms?
and is anyone going to the open house on april 26? :c

tiffiiee
Can you transfer after a year at CSLB as an undergrad to a UC?
kawawabear
I wanted to go to Long Beach and I was accepted and everything. But with my major, Long Beach wouldn't have been the best option. -sigh- C'est la vie.
mitchybits
Yay! a CSULB thread <3333
I'm a junior right now over at CSULB.
It's nice to find out that there are people that
are on soompi who attends CSULB!

We should do a meet-up or something =) hahahaha jk?
LaydeeDragun
i'm going to attend CSULB in the fall of 08!!

DarkAngelInLove
Incoming freshman here!!! Whoo! Looking forward to going to CSULB!! Half of people I know are going there!

Go Beach!!
LaydeeDragun
anymore CSULB kids in heree?
RE.
i like the fact that you can eat and drink food in the library or whatever you call it
myfelicity
I'm going to CSULB as an incoming freshman. (:

I'm majoring in business marketing and minoring in entrepreneurship.

From what I've seen so far, I really like the diversity and how welcoming everyone is. They even gave me an exec-board position in HRMA as their VP of Finance. I'm glad that I made the choice to go to CSULB over some of the UCs -- not because they aren't good schools, they just wouldn't be the right fit for me as a business major.

Incoming freshman! Excited (: LB fo lyfff

the japanese garden is soo niceee

Hi Hi! Incoming Freshman here!

I'm excited but really nervous D:
itzmichellee
Even if you don't get housing, there are alot of nice aparments. haha. I'm not going to csulb, but ALOT of my friends are. There are alot of cool things at lb too! :]
mitchybits

Yay for all the incoming freshmen!!!! Your first semester at CSULB will be
a little hard to adjust too but after like a couple of weeks, it becomes a part
of your daily life (: weeeee!! Good luck to all you guys!
musicnotes16
my friend goes there, absolutely loves it..i kinda wish (based on my major) that i decided to go there instead of UCI
cartoongirl7
Incoming freshman too!

Only half a week left until move-in day. I'm nervous like heck since I've always been more on the shy side, but definitely looking forward to it!

One question though (for those who have dormed before):

Is it possible to switch roommates after one semester? My friend didn't get a dorm spot for this semester but she's applying again for the spring, and I'm hoping to be able to room with her. If I talked it out with my current roommate, would the dorms allow us to switch?

tinaxxe
gawd. i go to CSULB. it's been hell. im majoring in design. either set or architectural.
parking is murder especially around 9am and 10am.

so sad. i haven't made any friends :[ so i have a hate relationship with this school

*tear tear*

i know parking is terrible. not to mention the prices for parking passes. the day pass went up to $4 and semester pass went up to $123. i guess they are using the money to build a new lot...but dang.
lovebum4life
I'm from the east coast(NYC) and I was thinking of applying there..I've never been to Cali before but do you think it would be hard for me to adjust to the environment?
ssjroxas
I go to CSULB!! I'm a freshman my first year here!
DarkAngelInLove
Having the time of my life here!
Sort of... right now I'm in the Student Union because I finished my test early and I'm just waiting for Archery Club to start.
I want to join Korean Club, but I have night class when they meet.
You all should be active when in college, you'll have more fun!
We should all meet or something because I don't see a lot of people on soompi from the Beach.
sw33t_angel
great there's people going to csulb! i'm was kinda afraid when selecting this school. four years is a long commitment. but now i'm really loving it. i'm also a freshman too. let me know when you all meet up.
Straznmx
I currently go there as a Junior. i am a Japanese major and I might be adding a linguistics as a minor. I know parking is a pain this year. I heard that the school accidently enrolled an additional 5000 students, so that is why the school is over crowded this year. One day it took me almost 2 years to find parking.
