PLEASE READ THIS WARNING BEFORE DECIDING TO USE AN ASPIRIN MASK.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: 01/26/08
wow this thread is still up ^^* i didn't expect it to last this long haha!
im sorry i haven't been able to answer any questions that have been on here lately..
i actually can only be on soompi a for a short amount everyday and im usually at the korean music section..
in fact, i didn't even really know that this thread was still alive! i hope it has worked for all of you~

[font="Impact"][size=5]EDIT: 05/31/07
i no longer use this twice a day, i cut back to maybe around 1-3 times a week.
i now think that twice a day might be a little bit much for my dry skin.
i substitute for milk, honey, and fruit masks often.
use however many times you want; but just putting in my input for myself.

EDIT!!!____xx
i dont want this to affect anyone in a bad way.
please test the aspirin mask and any other products you use on the sensitive wrist area of your arm before applying it to your face.
if irritation or any negative effects occur, pleaseeeee don't use it!!

my skin is very sensitive, pretty oily around my t zone, and my cheeks and the area aound my mouth is relatively dry.

i don't use the toner suggested, in fact i don't use any toner at all.

be careful everyonee~

original post:

I've recently had a major breakout a week earlier and I was freaking out. So basically I went online and googled every single way for a clearer face. I'm a xangan, so I know about Ricebunny... about a month ago I remembered she posted a great way to get beautiful skin. Since she had flawless skin I decided to give it a try. I've been using her method for about four days now and my skin's the best it's ever been for a while. It's really great and everything is very inexpensive and a lot cheaper than the Clinique stuff I was using before. A lot more effective too.

So here's her tutoral. ALL CREDITS TO MICHELLE PHAN AKA RICEBUNNY. THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM HER XANGA.

--------------------------------

Aspirin = Beautiful Skin

This is my formula for healthy beautiful skin. This cleanser that you will be making starts out as a mask, and ends up becoming an exfoliating cleanser. This can clear up acne and other skin problems. This works on me, with a 100% successful rating on the people I showed this to. Hopefully, you can be one of them. If you are allergic to aspirin do not use this. If you are allergic to honey, you can still use this method ( just subtract the honey).

Note
If you all are worried that aspirin may be bad for your skin. Let me inform you, that I would never suggest my readers to put toxic substances on their faces. I have done my research and have asked many dermatologists about aspirin. They recommend it, saying that it can heal scars, and here is an interesting article that states that it can prevent skin cancer. If you all are still skeptical, do not do it until you have done your own research and feel comfortable about it.

List of Materials

Non coated aspirin. I prefer the Target or Walgreens brand because it is inexpensive and dissolves faster.

Honey- You know, that ones you put on your pancakes and waffles hehe..mmm

Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner. You can purchase this on their online site . This is alcohol free so it will not dry your skin. You can use any other alcohol free toner, but I prefer this one.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle cream. This is also inexpensive, but works better than department store brands like Lancome, Clinique and etc!

Step 1-4 starting from left to right.

1) Take around 2-3 tablets of aspirin. (I used four for better photo details)
2) Sprinkle and I mean SPRINKLE drops of water on the aspirin, if you use too much water, it will become too mushy and pretty much useless.
3) If you added the right amount of water, it should start to disenegrate on it's own (Remember, get non coated and go for the Walgreen's or Target brand because they will dissolve at a faster rate than other brands). If it does not dissolve, use your fingers to break it apart and mix it with the water.

Note, the texture of this should be VERY grainy.

4) Add a 2 squirts of Honey onto the aspirin. After wards, mix the mixture until the aspirin is coated with the honey.

Now, start applying the mixture on your face. Make sure you avoid the eye area like I did. Also, try and avoid getting the aspirin in your nostrils, you do not want to breath this in. This may sound complicated, but honestly, it is common sense not to put anything up your nose right?

Apply and spread the entire mixture on your face. Leave it on like a mask for 10 MINUTES.
After the 10 minutes are up, wash this cleanser off your face. As you are washing it off, take advantage of the grainy texture of the aspirin and exfoliate your skin. This will get the dead skin cells off your face, and polish your skin to leave it glowing. I promise you, RIGHT WHEN YOU WASH THIS OFF, YOU WILL FEEL A MAJOR DIFFERENCE ON YOUR SKIN! It will feel soft to the touch.

Now after the wash, take the toner and dab some on a cotton ball like so. Wipe your entire face with the cotton ball in a circular motion. This toner will not only take off the gunk that the cleanser left behind (like makeup and dirt) but it will also constrict the pores, making them appear smaller and less visible.

Now take the moisturizer, and apply it on your face. I love this moisturizer because it feels so lightweight. It also has retinol, which will reduce the appearance off fine lines and wrinkles ( we are never too young for this gals, I started using wrinkle free cream when I was 8 years old). It also has spf 15, which will protect your skin from the (DUH) sun!

I do this every morning and night 24/7. If you want to see results, look at this photo below I took yesterday. This is a NON AIRBRUSHED, UN DOCTORED PHOTO (except for the cropping).

The real post is here.

Obviously, this won't work on everyone. But it really helped me and people have said that my skin condition has definitely gotten better. sweatingbullets.gif
Thanks for reading! Hope this helps!

thank yoooooooou! acne needs to go.
i should give this a try smile.gif
*~yunjeong~*
yup~ I've been using this for a while.. i used to do it everyday
but i left it on my face for 30-45 minutes..
and i didn't want to exfoliate with it because i think
that'd make my acne worse
it worked well.. i'm just getting lazy and do it once a week now..
but yeah everyone should give it a try~
your skin becomes really really soft..
just make sure to moisturize well afterwards because
the aspirin dries your skin up~
your skin looks beautiful!!

*points* look! another aspirin mask thread! ^-^

lol sorry i really needed to do that

Seen many of these threads and the aspirin mask has been said to be too strong to be an every day thing. But you never know until you do it yourself.
hyuunn
haha aspirin is really acidic. you should only keep it on your face for 10 min max because even that takes a layer off your face. not that it is bad or anything because it doesn't hurt you and leaves your face glowing~

sorry if there was another thread like this. this is my first post and im relatively new so i didn't really know sweatingbullets.gif

btw that definitely isn't my face, haha. it's michelle phan's [: if it was my face i'd be the happiest person in the world.

Is there another way?
I want to try this. tears.gif

edit
i actually found aspirin in the store
so thanks anyways.
~~PuhPuhMuh~~
^ where do you live?
because they DO have aspirin in europe
Azngel
there are about a million different ways of doing this mask. you can add honey or aloe or yogurt. melt the aspirin with witch hazel instead of water. whatever fits your skin the best. and her doing it every day is too overwhelming. this is a mask so it should be done about 2-3x per week. i dont recommend the scrubbing that she does either because the aspirin particles are really really harsh. st ives apricot scrub doesnt hurt my skin at all but when i scrubbed with aspirin it hurt like crazy.

and when you buy aspirin make sure its UNCOATED. coated aspirins dont work b/c they dont dissolve so easily in liquid.

a note of caution to all you people who do this, there are lots of claims on the internet that so and so's doctor says the aspirin can get absorbed by your skin causing you to OD on aspirin. aspirin is also NOT recommended for ppl under 18 b/c it causes something called rye's syndrome (sp?). ive been using this mask for a year now with superb results but i never made a thread recommending this stuff b/c of the medical reasons. i have no clue if its true or not b/c ive used this with no problem but

USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Rea
o.o.

would it work on sensitive skin?
No, this isn't recommend for sensitive skin. Aspirin is very harsh to normal skin already.

Make a tablet of the mask and test a small area of your skin.

okay i'm kinda scared now after reading what Azngel said. lol. but ermm.. i'll try it ONCE or twice. happy.gif
BebeSweet
DO NOT DO THIS EVERYDAY.

Once or twice a week is good, any more is irritating.
viet_la_amour
WHOA. is this safe?? blink.gif
kim.sooji
I wouldn't try that o__O;
I'm afraid something bad would happen..
changsta
i'm trying it right now! =) oh yeah.

for people who don't have noncoated asprin. i used excedrin extra strength and coated and it dissolved really quick!

------

i don't think asprin is gonna cause you to OD. that's alittle over the top. not unless you put like 50 asprins on your face.
i also heard you can use pregancy pills to do this too, but that's a big waste. lol.

"The U.S. Surgeon General, the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that aspirin and combination products containing aspirin not be given to children under 19 years of age during episodes of fever-causing illnesses. Acetylsalicylate is another word for aspirin; some medicine labels may use the words acetylsalicylate, acetylsalicylic acid, salicylic acid, or salicylate instead of the word aspirin. Always ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication."

credits to google.

reye's syndrome is not caused by just taking asprin!! it might happen if you take asprin when you have a fever or related illness.
nanshi
^ Chotto matte! "Acetylsalicylate is another word for aspirin; some medicine labels may use the words acetylsalicylate, acetylsalicylic acid, salicylic acid, or salicylate instead of the word aspirin"... then no WONDER this mask works. It's proven that one of the #1 chemicals in fighting acne/clearing up acne is SALICYLIC ACID (which is all over 'blemish correction, 'acne-free' cleansers... and whatever). If that's the case then... you're just getting a much higher percentage and like loads more concentration of the salicylic acid that clears up your skin (really quickly, might I add).

But yes, it does dry up your skin quickly. I would try this... but I've heard in some places that it's better to get your skin used to a 'habit' instead of using all these random products on it just "randomly" at random intervals.... so I think I'll skip...
hyuunn
my skin is very sensitive... it works great for me. my skin is oily around t zone and then dry near mouth blink.gif

but yes, i use this twice a day. if you use good moisturizer and only keep this on for 10 minutes, it shouldn't do any harm. but then again i guess it varies for every person ^^;;;

thanks everyone for reading (=
apple920
i have been following this regime for the past month exactly as prescribed and i can say it WORKS! my scars have completely faded and my sister have noticed my skin has so much glow to it now and i don't wear make up at all! the reason why i started using this because i had been using bio oil for the past few months and that helped me a lot with my past scars (i left a pic in that thread though not a good one lol). but then my period hit super late and i think in combination with the bio oil, made my skin break out more than normal. so i stopped using bio oil and started using aspirin masks and i can say the results are MUCH better and quicker.

i have normal to dry skin and even using this twice a day have not caused it to dry up. i think you just need a good moisturizer. however, i do have to warn those who are going to use this method-my sister did a lot of research when i told her i wanted to try out this mask. she said that the mask WILL purge you of zits meaning you will get worse acne after you first start using it than before. that happened to me and at first i got really scared. my sister said that's how it works, it forces up all the acne that lies underneath your skin, then prevents it from starting up again. the acne caused scarring which are now cleared up and i love love how my skin looks.
chineseduckling
i just did it and took a shower and omg, my face is soooooo soft! biggrin.gif
geruhjima
i'm going to try thiss.. probably going to get the aspirin & stuff after school tomorrow. ^^
__In Lust`
lol this is pretty old stuff..

dont know whats all the hyped about..
i did it long time ago..didnt do much for me.

if you have sensitive skin you should NOT do this.
x3mango
very interesting. i gotta try this. thank you!
seaweed333
nono u shouldnt do it twice a day
thats way too much imo
like do it max once every two days
im not sure but it could make u more prone to sun damage & wrinkles and stuff when ur older
it only works because of the salicylic acid
u could buy some salicylic acid if ur allergic to asprin
& dont use it if u have rosacea or something like that
& test it on ur hand to see if ur allergic to it

THINGS YOU COULD ADD TO THE ASPRIN MASK

yogurt
aloe vera
honey
milk
clays [like the ones for facials]
green tea powder
CookieBreak
INteresting!
Does any1 kno if this clears up blackheads too?
I_broke_a_nail!
what happened if you do this for sensitive skin?
will your skin turn red?

I mean my friend has sensitive skin but she only did it for 2x a week.
YEHJIN.
haha, i just made a thread on this too, like yesterday xD

and seriously, THE ASPIRIN MASK WORKS!

i added honey and aloe vera to mine with the water.. and it didnt dry out my skin at all! a lot of clay masks totally dehydrated my skin but this left it feeling soft and not tight at all. <3

I'm pretty sure those toner and moisturizer that was suggested can be replaced by other brands that you feel is good for you.

I think I should try this mask too..
Thanks for the info.
