I can't believe the ratings for Watashitachi no Kyokasho went down, it's one of the best I've seen this season. Hopefully as it goes along, it will pick up again.

Ratings for Kodoku no Kake on the same timeslot but rival TV station fell too. Perhaps audiences find the story too bleak and dark. Anyhow it's still early days.

Great job Juri-chan.....Number 1!!!! I hope to see her again in the sequel to Nodame Cantabile..if there is one...I hope

Ep2 ratings nose dived to 14.7%.

I think ALL DRAMAS will suffer drops by the second episode, and I'm afraid this spring won't be able to reach winter's record; three dramas getting the 20% average.

^^ just went to the liar game thread someone mention that it got a 0.5% raise, i mean at least it raise even though the raiting is still bad..

Yeh, this is on my watch list definitely, yupp i would say that this is consider good for the timeslot but im just saying ratings in general, it's bad b/c it just looking at the numbers ppl won't mention that the fact that one is aired at a better time over the other when ppl talk about ratings all they care are the numbers only...

It will drop 2-3 percent. It's inevitable that what's high will fall. It will not be easy to duplicate the ratings for the winter season which generally pulls in the highest ratings because more people stay home. That also explains why the lineup of lead stars in almost every drama last season was so formidable as TV stations tried to use star power to entice viewers to watch their drama. The plots for a few of the dramas are rather weak this season so it will be quite a tough ride.

I actually had my highest hopes set on Tokkyu Tanaka San Go because I heard the producers were the same ones that created IWGP.. but episode 1 bored me to death. How depressing. Not surprised that the ratings were so low.

Dang. Most of the ratings dropped for Ep. 2. That's weird. I would think that after watching the first ep. people would be more inclined to tune in and see how the drama continues.

Everyone dropped, except for LIAR GAME; That's pretty cool.
Sexy Voice and Robo's ratings are getting dangerously low. Rating is not everything, but I hope it does better. I actually think it gets better each episode.

Proposal Daisakusen's ratings are not that bad. It's actually good. I still need to d/l the first episode.

I personally think the dramas this season are all pretty fun and interesting, more so than the previous seasons; but the down point is that they are dominated with teen idols and young actors who have not really established themselves, so no wonder the ratings are pretty low for the majority of them. I actually never judge a drama based on the ratings alone because those are just numbers, well, unless some dramas have consistently low or high ratings all throughout. This spring is a great season for dramas as I found myself keeping up with pretty much all of them though .

I agree. I won't put too much into ratings since some good dramas do get overlooked because they are too grim and depressing or cater to a specific target audience. Also, the ratings are solely for the Kanto region and omits Kansai and other parts of Japan, so it's best to just use it as a gauge in deciding whether to watch a drama or not.

The downward trend is a bit appalling but it might have to do with the quality of the adaptations and the casting choices since there are many young actors and actresses. Hotelier and Kodoku no Kake have fallen below 10% now.

omg hotelier ratings are really bad considering its timeslot too .....and fufudo the only one taht went up~

I've got to say this though, lately, the ratings for most Jdramas are just very low. This season there's already 5 dramas falling under 10% even just at the 2nd episode, that's pretty alarming I think. It's true that I don't usually care for the numbers, but with that many bad rating dramas, one usually questions what the heck is going on. You might be right about the casting choices, but still... didn't Gokusen 2 have all those young actors and it still got sky-rocket ratings? I hope those shows won't get canceled or cut short because of the ratings, that would totally suck .

^^ from waht i know like since i have few doramas for years now, even though they have bad ratings i never see that they cut or cancel dramas episodes ...i think kdramas does alot of that.

Yeah it is terribly appalling, and if they continue toeing the 10% line, many will probably have shorter runs than usual. I agree that this really prompts one to question why because it is quite unprecedented. Perhaps audience fatigue? There are a substantial number of adaptations and sequels this season. The sequels seem to be faring slightly better, probably attributable to loyal audience following? It's hard to say. Gokusen 2 had Nakama Yukie, currently one of the top five most popular actresses in the scene, that plus the presence of the young actors from JE undoubtedly sealed the drama's popularity although I hear that Gokusen 2 was merely a rehash of Gokusen.



Well there have been Japanese dramas that suffered cancellations but not many. The recent ones were Shimokita Sundays and Regatta which ended their runs earlier than expected. We won't know whether they'll get cut short until later in the season but if any dramas dip near 5% for quite a few episodes, I think that might happen.

^^ oh really, well i don't pay attention to all the dramas, so i wouldn't know...yeh i do remember that regatta did have super bad ratings that season...

There's not a drama that's dominating this season. My favorite drama this season is Jikou Keisatsu 2. I just love that show. Its funny and quirky and kind of reminds me of Trick. No one's translating it but I understand most of what's going on. My second favorite show is Bambino.

^ooooh i'm dying to see Jikou Keisatsu 2! i JUST finished watching the 1st season and absolutely loved it! and someone on d-addicts just picked up subbing it =D can't wait to be able to watch it.
been meaning to watch bambino and proposal daisakusen, but still haven't gotten around to it. the only thing i've seen this season is Liar Game, which is...okay.
