Hi,

I'm looking for bands described by the topic title above. So far I have listened to Cherry Filter and Lovaholic, both very good. Any suggestions? I'm always in search of discovering other bands, both new and old.

Thanks, and happy listening!!! biggrin.gif

Microkid & Beautiful Days.
Among the more popular ones,
there's Casker and Roller Coaster and Rumble Fish. I'll try recalling more;
the ones I listed are the bands that I have on my current playlist.
D_K
Thanks!

I just listened to a song by Casker. I love them!!!!!

I was only able to find their 3rd album. Any ideas about where I can download their first 2 albums?

Thanks again. Great suggestions biggrin.gif

To name a few:

Jaurim
Loveholic
Cherry Filter
Rumble Fish
Roster Coaster
Pearl's Day
Sang Sang Band
A Bridge
Casker

D_K
Edward, which of Jaurim's album is your favourite? Haven't decided on the album to start out on.

So far, from limited listening, Cherry Filter and Rumble Fish are pretty good.

BTW, Casker sounds very similar to Gotan Project.

^ I would recommend their "Wonderland" album (I think it's number 3?)

If you're not afraid of going a little more underground, try Shorty Cat, Rule Destroyer, I Love JH, and Kick Scotch.
musicgurl627
I recently found out about the band THe The Band. It's less rockish, maybe emo-ish? They're pretty good. Try their 5th album: The Music.

I'm really interested in shorty cat and the band, but does anyone have any idea on where i can download their music?

What is that site? It won't let me register. Also, it says there's already a "RACETRAITOR" on there.
cluelessyf
is there a forum/website for just like krn (or asian) alternative/rock/emo music? haha i thought all asian music was mainstream/pop-y
RACETRAITOR
I'm a moderator at a website for the Korean punk scene. It's a little rougher than here though and there aren't that many pop fans over there.
ginger
They're more indie than alternative, but check out Donawhale. I randomly found their music on some blog, and it's really great.

Bad news is Rule Destroyer broke up, but good news is there's another female fronted band called Invisible Man.
starfall
any recs? can you send me samples songs albums?
helikoppter
Swimmin' Fish is a female fronted pop punk band with a full length album to be released next month. Learn more about them here ^^

And since I'm already plugging LKL & myself, I might as well suggest that you read about all female band Bloody Cookie here too tongue.gif

Here is a new one: Orange Lala

Looking at the her album cover I thought she would be a dance or R&B artist. But she is a "one person" rock band. Her title song "Darling" is a rock ballad. I think it is pretty good.

Here is the MV:

Edit: She is 173cm tall, making her one of the tallest female singers in Korea.

Oh ^^ must found this theard earlier ^^ ^oo^
I luv CHERRY FILTER ^________^

The info I found on them is that the band formed back in 2003 and their song "Ready, Get Set, Go" is from their 1st album titled "Colorful Express", in 2005.

They released a music video for this song around 2005 as well. So it is kinda wierd that they are debuting 2 years after the fact.

StarCrystal
^ Yeah, I didn't know they haven't gone on music shows yet either o-o;

Anyone heard of Icevery? I just listened to their main song "Peterpan's Dream" (well watched it actually through their MV) and liked it. ^-^
edward1849
Check out a new band Sprinkler. The leader is G-Gorilla, formerly from Eve. The female lead singer's name is Yo Ari.
wonny
^ anymore info on sprinkler? i saw theme preform in the recent ep of music core, and the lead singer is pretty good.
moonstruck2133

I agree, although their latest album left a lot to be desired. I only really liked one song from there - 바늘. It had to have been the most disappointing album of this year. Their EP was awesome though. Things just haven't been the same with that group ever since Hojin left to play with Fortune Cookie. And Cheoru left too...
ohmysanity
cherry filter all the way, man xD I just listened to them, and... wow. Lovely voice she has, and awesome guitar riffs. I hope someone can be cool enough to script up the guitar tabs so I could practice this song. ^^

I thought their sound changed.... (speculated that they were 'experimenting') :\ What sort of sound does fortune cookie fall into?

Btw, are you the same 'orienkorean' on youtube? I have quite a few groups on my "must-listen-to" list, thanks to you. The work you've done upping all those videos is absolutely fantastic!

Yeah, that's me. And thanks, I really appreciate that. Fortune Cookie play electronic pop. Just like Nastyona, their latest album sounds different from the first.. It's just not as "pop" and you get more of a band presence in the music. A lot of it is dreary light/soft trip hop.

Edit: I didn't really like their second album either.

The only korean bands with female vocals IŽlistening to so far are Jaurim and Huckleberry Finn, both highly recommended^^

Here is a new modern rock band with lead female vocal: Rubystar

http://cafe.daum.net/Bcarrie

Rubystar "Might She Come Back"

The title track of Rubystar's first single "Might She Come Back." This is the debut song of a new band called Rubystar consisting vocalist and songwriter Jeong-won, guitarist Park Jin-chul, bassist Boat and drummer Kim In-su. This modern rock ballad carries a beautiful melody that accentuates Jeong-won's powerful vocals. The lyrics are about the hopeless despair of past love. (from Arirang TV - Pops in Seoul)

It's a pretty good song. smile.gif
aznSgirl
PB's is a great one!! You should definately check them out!!! biggrin.gif
COOKIE.BANDIT.
i LOVE sprinkler. here's the mv of "my island"

Sprinkler - 보물섬으로의 항해

the lead vocals are very different from what i'm used to hearing from krn females.

Beautiful Days, Biuret, Casker, Misty Blue and The Melody are also highly recommended
filthfate
anyone can tell me more about the the band, can't seem to find any info in english, has their lead vocal changed in vol6?
helikoppter
I think I've found a new favorite in 로빈이 토끼란 사실을 알고 있었나? (Robbin)
Samples here and here.

I think Napolian Dynamite is a pretty good band. Except the girl in the band left.
But they recently had a comeback. so yeah :]
yeppmusic7
Peppertones has a female vocalist who sings sometimes. I like their music a lot, you should try them out :]
K_a_n
Haha I really should check out all these bands. One I'm currently listening to right now and totally love is Bluedawn even though they disbanded along with Loveholic and The Melody.
