Humor Board Rules

if you break any of the rules: your thread may be closed/hidden and/or you may receive a warning


1. Do not go around the 20 characters limit.
- If any of the mods see that the members go around the 20 character limit such as "lol 20 charactersss" or "I agree laskdjflsajflsadjf" or anything similar. You will get warned.
- You all know there is 20 characters limit and should not bypass it. It must be 20 legitimate characters: see HERE for more clarification.



2. Do not post any racist/sexist/crude/sexual/explicit videos/pictures/jokes
(you will receive a warning from posting/promoting any sexual/nudity pictures/videos)
(thread that contain any of the following kinds will be made hidden so don't create the same thread over)
- Don't post screaming pictures, those are annoying and you will be warned
- The idea is to keep the jokes PG-13 so don't make it explicitly sexual/totally disgusting (incest, sex/oral/anal/intercourse-type)
- if the link has some porn site on there, don't post it up, use something different
- Normally there are "sexist jokes" (think Google or "Why is Beer better than Woman" jokes) or "racist stereotypes" (88 ways to know you're Chinese), those are okay, but obviously obnoxious jokes will be closed/hidden.
- Use your best judgment in posting a joke - if you flat out know it's racist or sexist, don't post it.
- You won't necessary be in trouble if you post a sexist joke or other bad jokes, it will be hidden so just don't post it again


2.5 Do not post "ugly" people pictures here to ridicule and make fun of
And by that I mean taking someone's photo from myspace/other sites, then posting it here to ridicule them. We've had too many of these lately. it is crude and unhumorous.


3. Look at the Directory threads before posting
- Any duplicate/stray threads will be closed/hidden as well as request thread s (usually I try to refer it to the original link in the thread , but I'll label it as a repost and you should just try looking 3 pages back or check the directory)
- Jokes/Riddles/Anything Else should go into THIS THREAD
- Videos/Youtubes and Pictures should go into the Video/Picture thread
- Short small jokes should go into the Short joke thread
- Korean jokes goes into the Korean Thread
- Blonde jokes goes into this Blonde Joke thread
- Little Johnny jokes go into the Little Johnny thread


4. Do not quote pictures
- If you wish to quote, take out the IMG code and quote them as links


5. Label your thread
(it will automatically be changed)
- Don't label it "FUNNNY JOKE!!!" or "YOU WILL LAUGH AT THIS JOKE" I'm sure it's funny/entertaining/humorous since it's posted here.
- BE DESCRIPTIVE: if the joke is about a bear, type something about a bear
For example: If you're posting about the Landlord youtube video the titles should be something like this:
Title: The Landlord
Title Description: A cute funny video

Or even a memorable quote like
Title Description: "I WANT MY MONEY!!!:


6. Post links only (don't post things that require you to download)
- You should post youtube links if you want to post a video
- Or post pictures that you uploaded on photobucket or imageshack so you don't use up the bandwidth of another site


7. Games are usually not allowed, but it depends on the content
- by games I mean those online/forum thread games - you can post flash games and such, just make sure the link is good and not full of links to "hot babes" and stuff like that
- if it's closed, it could be a repost or something that shouldn't be on here
- this includes chain letters (where people repost them in the same thread or any other part of Soompi)

Example of games allowed:
- flash game link
- some quizzes (depends on the content)
- fun quiz like "how much are you worth"
- there are more

Example of games NOT allowed:
- Pick your month, favorite color and see what the phrase say!
- obvious forum board games ("I post a question and you answer it and then you post a question)
- there are more

8. Anything that is damaging to the computer or a disturbance will be deleted and the user will be warned.
- This means all those useless videos that aren't the regular content will be closed

Example: rick roll'd, screaming photos, non-stop pop-ups, 2 girls/1cup etc


Of course, keep the Soompi board rules in mind.

SMALL FAQ:

Q: I see words like john teshing, pinkberry and weird words in a joke, why?
A: Those words are actually swear words filtered with those words.

Q: How do I hide the answer?
A: Put up a spoiler tag like this:

is an asian joke considered to be racist?

An Asian joke? Like.. the Korean ones? Or about Asia? Depends on how it's used and what you mean.. it could be racist or it could be not..

Please, ban those annoying websites that are impossible to close

EDIT: Ah you're right. Well it's not exactly impossible but the window moves around and when you do manage to hit the close button there's a bunch of those message pop-ups. Only method is ctrl+alt+del http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=236887

It would help to provide an example or just to report it.

Someone sent me a report. All those rick roll'd, screaming things, pop-ups, 2 girls 1 cup type of things, will be banned.

Are more serious quizzes allowed, or would that just defeat the purpose of the humor section?

Err what kind of personality test? Do you have any one in mind or an example?

I think it's like... seventy-two questions? It's only asking what you usually do and gives you an answer to what category you fit into most, based off of your answers, out of sixteen personality 'types'.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate, though, since it isn't very funny.

It's the Hummanetrics personality test. If you google it, it's the first link, I believe.

Can you please please include labeling if the thread inside has a link to go to AND youtube videos under your labelling rules??

i realized that (i think most people do too?) its quite annoying to expect pictures but a youtube link appears or having to press "back" every single time theres a direct link in the thread.

^ yes that has happened to me so many times and im sure to others as well. a label would really be convenient cause i always expect pictures but it ends up being a link. also, could you possibly merge all the threads that only have a joke with less than 5 lines into the short jokes thread. i dont think its resourceful to just have a thread dedicated to one joke of less than 5 lines.

I've noticed this rule is pretty much ignored, and it's not enforced.
...I feel like I'm really anal to consider pressing the report button. o_o

I don't think labels are really absolutely necessary in the humor forum. Many threads you go into, expecting one thing but get a different outcome is usually a part of the joke anyway.

There's also a thread directory of Jokes, and YT links. You'll know what to expect if you look through those pinned threads

As for the threads with less than 5 lines.. the ones that pop up are usually old threads that haven't been merged yet. You can link them to me and I'll add it to the short jokes thread.




The problem is that a lot of the old threads that were created PRIOR to the rules/thread directories made tend to pop up on the first page every once in a while. I'm still trying to update everything (closing duplicate threads, adding new links to directories, etc), but it's a very long and tedious process. If anyone would like to help me finish the job, that'd be great! : ) I've also been gone so any new threads cropping up not abiding by the rules probably weren't caught on radar yet. Feel free to link me any threads that are duplicates/not in the right thread

If we get a warning, will it expires? >< because it looks so ugly xD

Warnings will stay there until you PM the mod who warned you about it after a month of abiding by the rules. Please read the FAQ regarding warn removals.
