E-Ring's Kelly Rutherford and The Jury's Florencia Lozano have both been cast as the mothers of lead roles Serena and Blair. Rutherford will play the mother of Serena van der Woodsen (Lively's character), a former ballerina and rock groupie. Meanwhile Lozano was cast as Eleanor Waldorf the mother of Blair Waldorf (Meester's character). World Trade Center's Conner Paolo has been cast as Serena's brother, Eric van der Woodsen, Afterlife's Ed Westwick has been cast as Chuck Bass, and Brothers and Sisters' Matthew Settle has been cast as Jenny and Dan's father, Rufus Humphrey.

This looks sooo good already.
I think the casting of Blair, Serena, and Dan are PERFECTTT.
But I don't quite agree with Jenny. Doesn't she have um Double Ds?
And also, I always envisioned her to be innocent and vulnerable. This chick looks like she has an edge to her or something. Oh well, I guess I'll have to watch to really judge.
AND WHAT THE HECK AT NATE???? He's supposed to be A&F model yumminess!!!

haha..this show is gonna be so dramatic
i didnt expect the cw to take the show though....
i havent kept up with the series...
and nate is uglier than i expected...
dan.....looks not as smart as i expected...
and jenny...well the book describes her to be BIG boobed or something...
and i always pictured her with drak hair...
but this jenny looks really pretty...
im not sure about other people..but when i read the book
i tend to get super pissed at the characters..theyre just so MEAN to eachother...
their world almost seems surreal to me...
anyways..i cant wait for the show!

Yeah, I expected something different out of Jenny. Like you guys said, the book described her to have a pretty voluptuous figure, but TV Jenny looks so petite and...not so voluptuous. lWhen I read the book, I pictured Jenny to be a bit chunkier, with curly dark hair and again, big boobs. And she looked really innocent and kind of naive. But TV Jenny looks like shes cut out for the real world. lol But who knows, maybe the actress will surprise us.
& Nate. Geh. I pictured him to be much better looking. For some reason, I pictured a Jesse McCartney with darker & a little bit longer hair.
I think Dan is such a cutie. But I've always imagined him to be a bit more scruffier. lol
The girl that's playing Blair is absolutely perfect in my eyes. Pretty much exactly how I'd imagine her. And shes so gorgeous! So pale. haha And Blake is perfect for Serena too. I loved her in Accepted
& Rufus. Man. For a sort of old guy, he's pretty darn handsome haha

emm not so excited... i've followed the book since it first came out but i think i've outgrown it (esp. since ghostwriters came in)... and they're changing so many things from the book and omit characters that i actually like, so...
i'm still hoping it'll turn out good... i think the casting's pretty good, aside from the fact that erik's supposed to be the hottest guy in the world and now he's a little kid...

YAY!! it's an incredibly superficial series -- but it's still my guilty pleasure <3
judging by the pictures, i'm not liking any of the clothes except dan's.
which is a bad sign, because the book relies heavily on clothes with expensive labels and that are gorgeous.
i'm so happy with the cast. blair fit the exact description in my mind ... but serena, not so much.
she doesnt seem so model-like; instead she looks like the girl-next-door. boo.
jenny is supposed to be ... big breasted. obviously, they overlooked that minor detail.
which isnt minor at all, because most of her storylines involve her self-consciousness about them.
the guys are mouth-wateringly hot, so no complaints. except chuck bass is too good looking. same with dan.
dan is exceptionally gorgeous, opposed to his character in gossip girl. he's supposed to be scruffy and whatnot.
btw, what about his other love interest ... darn. i forgot her name. the one who keeps a shaved head and is obsessed with filming.
if chuck was slightly less handsome, it would be easier to hate him (since he's supposed to be the biggest jerk around).
also, dan's father is quite dashing. i thought he was a slob? and ugly? ahaha i'm not complaining.
this is probably the most shallow post i have ever posted on soompi.

wow im actually wanting to see this. i always thought they should make a tv series/movie out of this. i <33 blake lively and i think she'd be a good serena (although she lacks the biotchness) blair waldorf is PERFECT! jenny...eh not so much. i agree w/aaclove; her boobs aren't big enough. hahahaha anyways can't wait to check this out :]]

Huge shot in the dark here, Serena's older brother? hahaha I'm probably SOOO far from the truth, but I can't think of anyone else in the book that was described like that. And the only guy who hasn't been casted or mentioned is her older brother at Brown Uni. (I think its Brown...?) haha Again, my guess is probably so farfetched since the guy...or girl in the picture looks much younger than Serena. But I'm just going to fill in the blank until someone comes along with the right answer. lol

Vanessa! I think was her name. lol If its not Vanessa its V something. I remember her name started with a V. Yeah I'm curious about whos playing her too! Since she did have a pretty big part in the book. But I havent' found any info on her yet. Once I do, I'll post

Really? If she's taking on this project, does that mean she's putting a hold on V.Mars? Yeah I know Narrating isn't that big of a job lol, but V. Mars hasn't been confirmed for being renewed yet, and rumors are circulating. A bit worried, since I love V. Mars and her. And I think its really awesome that she'd be part of this. The more reason to watch, although, she isn't really going to be SEEN in the show. Whatever LOL Still, pretty interesting stuff.

okay but the characters are a slight disappointment. I thought Serena would be a lot prettier and younger loooking. Blair's okay. I thought Nate would be more muscular and tanned. Jenny is definetely not that petite, she has big boobs! I didn't think their mothers would play such a big role- what about Vanessa too?

the CW picked this up ...
Kristen Bell from Veronica Mars, will be narrating the series and will be the so called "Gossip Girl", so thats something to look forward to. The CW's annual fall lineup announcement has this series replacing OTH at the 9PM Wednesday Time slot. Which is a pretty good time slot

i know... that's why i mentioned in an earlier post that i think i outgrew the series esp. since ghostwriters took over... it used to say "written by" or "by" cecily von ziegesar, but after book 8 it says "created by cecily von ziegesar"... she left the series to start writing the it girl, which has now supposedly been taken over by ghostwriters as well... either way, i hope she returns for the prequel, because i'd like to end my gossip girl obsession in a good note...

HAHAHAHAH I WAS RIGHT!? Omg hahah so they've just decided to change how it is in the book and make him younger? For serious? unfortunately although blake is really pretty she doesn't do justice to serena's description in the book.
in the book serena was supposed to be most striking no matter what and blair always lost out to her in the looks department but from what i see, blair in the show is the striking one...

I saw the previews on CW after another preview and was like BLAKE LIVELY!

Chace Crawford the guy playing nate is from the covenant. i remembered him being pretty cute (all the guys in that movie were!!) but he wasnt so memorable.. but yeah this is going to be a really good show..
i can't wait because i been WAITING for a show about elite prep schools in new england yay!!!
