the ending dissapointed me big time. i just felt like bd had no climax. i mean i was hoping for this awesome fight between the volturi and the others but there was like NOTHING?? then i was like omg?/ wtf, happy ending already. yeah the book seemed kinda rushed, but it did tie some loose strings in the plot.

ACTUALLY Jacob doesnt see
Nessie as his lover
hes more of her protector or guardian in a way.. even in the end
Bella and Edward realized that Jake didnt care that Nessie will be a full grown adult in about 7 yrs
he just cares for her well being and want the best for Nessie
.. and yes the book had a different tone but it did sum up everything and im satisfied with it
LOL and for people who are complaining about the lack of sex
or how Stephanie didnt put enough detail.. you guy should really be looking for those cheesy romance novels that have Fabio on the cover
i think she put it perfectly its private and was intimate and that explains Edward and Bella and their relationship..
its something strong but between them.. at least you get the gist of it
over all i liked it .. it wasnt the same feel as the first three but what do you expect Bella changes/grows up so of course the theme changes toowow longest post ever sorry

I'm on Chapt. 15 during Jacob's part and I dont think the book is THAT BAD.
I'm not pointing fingers, but I think some readers who are saying the book is "bad" because what they want to happen isn't happening. TOUGH LUCK. Stephenie Meyer is a great writer and she wrote the plot to be the way she intended it to be.
From what people have said about the novel because I'm not to that part yet, Edward and Bella had a baby---for a reason. Jacob imprints on her--for a reason. Stephenie Meyer wrote all of this for a reason. So if it doesn't please everyone, we don't need a constant reminder.
Frankly speaking, some of the constant complaints about how horrible this book is...is getting annoying. I mean, I'm not all too happy with the plot too, but what can I do about it?
The book is out, the plot is final. Get over it. You like it or you don't.
I just don't want people to feel discouraged about reading Breaking Dawn...or go around saying stuff like burning the novel (figuratively or not). It just seems disrespectful to the author. I think it's worth reading it even if we may not all agree with the plot.

ah!
i read the book in 5 & a half hours.
YAY!
haha, i couldn't put the stupid thing down, even when the sun came up and the friggin' birds were chirping by my window.... T_____T
i anticipated the book to be a major letdown, with all the spoilers - i mean, seriously? nessie? RENESMEE?! - but surprisingly, it wasn't that bad. i just wanted bella to be married, and to become a vampire. i guess with the storyline of a half-immortal child, it adds a conflict, heals old wounds regarding jacob, and kinda makes it acceptable for the cullens to bite a human. her whole power? i kept thinking, "lily potter, lily potter" just in a bigger magnitude. and of course, renesmee carlie. uhm. once again, i'm thinking "harry potter's son! harry potter's son!"
enough of my rant.
i should go to bed.....
hard to believe the entire cullen family actually thought alice & jasper abandoned them. even WITH the goodbye note, it's still.... hard to believe that they'd believe a friggin' note.
it should've been better.
much better.

Well everyone has their own opinions and I don't think it's bad because of what I anticipated to happen didn't happen (well actually I didn't know what to expect from this book) but more so 1) the characters are so different from the other books 2) I think the plot is kinda stupid and 3) I just found it to be really boring
But now, whenever I'm going to re-read the series, I'm going to find it so dang hard not to think about
Nessie. SM has totally ruined the series for me SINCE I LOVE THE FIRST 3 BOOKS D:

Aug 2 2008, 10:37 PM
So I finished reading Breaking Dawn today. I did like this book overall. Don't judge the book by its spoilers without reading them in context. I know they sound a little iffy, but I would at least give it a chance before slamming the book, (something I've heard people are doing). Was BD amazing? Not really, but I didn't really expect it to win the Pulitzer Prize. I do agree that it was somewhat rushed (yet draggy in some parts).
I think I'll just post some positive things, though, since I like my cup half-full.
Things that I loved:
Seth (Seriously, I love that kid.)
Nessie herself, even if her existence is questionable (She's just so sweet tempered, I had to like her.)
Jacob and Leah's bonding
Jasper gravitating towards Bella's happiness (I just found that sweet.)
Bella shielding everyone against Jane's attacks and then smiling at her (Jane's furious reactions were priceless; I've wanted Bella to one-up her since New Moon.)However, one of the things that bothered me was when
Edward says something to the effect of "My brother...my son" to Jake towards the end. Was anybody like

?
I did a double-take and laughed really hard because of its corniness.

Ahhh, I just finished Breaking Dawn today too, and it was definitely... interesting. xD
Some surprising aspects and twists and definitely some "UH.. OKAY??" moments.
Except, I don't know why... but the very ending of the book wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be. :/
Overall though, I liked it a lot. C:

Well, Stephenie Meyer developed and made her characters grow with each experience. From junior year of high school to graduation and in Bella's case, getting married and getting pregnant will change a character a lot. We can't expect Bella to stay the feeble new girl in school forever.
But besides that, I think it's funny when Jacob refers to Rosalie as "Blondie"...and the blonde joke about drowning made me laugh out loud.

Aug 2 2008, 10:42 PM
I finished the book, with all the spoilers and everything else, I expected it to be fairly bad and yes the first 14 chapters (the spoilers I read) were written like a fanfic and it didn't seem like the real author wrote it because it was just that BAD.
But the ending was okay. I'm not completely let down now. I just wished there was a CLIMAX to the story you know.
I mean seriously, the Volturi were there. The WHOLE COVEN and all they did was stand and stare and turn around without a fight. It was ridiculous to the extreme. Like where's the FIGHT, the CLIMAX. It was soooooo irritating. ARG! What's the whole point of them going without a loud bang in the end?
Oh well, I must say that I think SM should have stopped at the 2nd book. I'm not even excited about the movie now because I know how the series ends and it just kinda killed the enthusiasm.

In the back of breaking dawn, they advertise The Twilight Saga: The official guide was for us the twihards, we have december 30th to look forward too.
Since im extremely tired (for reading how manys hours?!) ill keep my review nice and short.
I thought everything was bearable. The spoilers that came it, the already heard quotes, the whole rising action that's notorious for reaching its climax at the last seven or so chapters of the entire book, the cheesy love, sex, celebration motif, and let alone the loch ness monster.
Well, I'm satisfied.
I think im content.

the book was really good. just as i expected from SM but the volturi battle was sorta lame. it was just each side starring at each side for a long time...and of course lots of touching haha. the only strong part of the battle that i did like was when all the couples were saying their "final" goodbyes to each other! it was so sad. when edward and bella were saying their goodbyes to renesmee, and edward called jacob his son....thats just weird. yea he knows that she'll marry jacob someday, but it seemed kinda unnecessary. its more like "take care of my daughter for the rest of your life, thanks" haha. OH and my favourite, was when Bella was just turned into a vampire and she lost it when Jacob nicknamed Renesme lol. "YOU NICKNAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCKNESS MONSTER?"
at the release party i was at, we had drinks (you could either choose the Edward or the Jacob), trivia, mask making (my mask looks horrible), and lots of screaming. i was 2nd in the line where i was waiting and i had to cover my nose with my jacket cuz all the fangirls were screaming and sweating and we screamed at everything. from an empty trolley, to a table, to a tablecloth. then countdowns and finally, the book. ringing in my ears for a while after but totally worth it.

i know its really stupid for me to be giving my opinion now
lol because my copy of BD has not arrive yet xD
but i think -according to all the spoilers- that BD is not THAT disappointing *dont shoot me*
maybe there were scenes that fans were not happy about, but what can SM do about it?
this is her ideal ending thats why she wrote it right? i think we should respect her for that
after all shes the author
we all have our ideal endings and i'm pretty sure SM thought really hard on how to mix it all up together to please her fans and still make a good book =D
i, personally wanted a happy ending and according to the spoilers i think i got it xD
but Twilight will always be the best although it was pretty short compared to the other books
i'm still pretty curious on what happened to Rosalie
according to wiki, she was raped by her fiancee and his friends but when i read Eclipse, it didnt look like she was raped
lol anyone care to tell me what happened to her?

she was walking down from her friend's house( it was veeery late) and Royce, her fiancee, and his friends were drunk..they saw her and raped her leaving her to die on the streets. So, yeah, that's when Carlisle found her.
He changed her bcuz to see her dying was awful, he was also hoping her to be Edward's soulmate.
yes but, these are our opinions..we're the readers she aims to be happy. but u gotta think, the 1st time we read the spoilers we were totally WTH? bcuz she just turned down everything she wrote..we were..guess u could say, shocked. I am still shocked, but i guess in time..i'll accept BD's ending.

oh no... everyone isn't liking this last book as much as the first three...
but seeing how it's 754 pages i can bet so much money that meyer has put alot of fillers in their that didn't really need to be in there or just got lost in her train of thought and decided to put a super cooler 'twist' that was thought to be better than her original idea (which is usually not as good as the first one most of them time ^___^ ) but seriously, she's written alot and i guess over all if anything to rate how great her books are out of 4 (since there are 4 books) it's really i would give it 2.5/4.... twilight and eclipse being awesome and new moon half the awesome that twilight and eclipse has delivered for me

I was surprised and a little disappointed that Edward would suggest Jacob impregnate Bella. It made for a good story, but I just felt that was a bit too harsh on Edward.
It was a little disappointed too that Jacob didn't trust Bella when she wanted to see her baby for the first time.
Seeing Edward break down, Jacob imprinting on Nessie, and the limited amount of really good and dramatic love scenes.. I'm not just talking about the physical, but a bit more verbal expression I guess was what i was looking for.. all of those things left a sour taste in my mouth.
Wasn't anyone else expecting someone important and valued to almost die at the final confrontation? Of course I wouldn't want anything to happen to our beloved Edward or Bella, but it would've been nice to hear someone profess something truly heartwrenching.
I wasn't truly satisfied with the silence after Nessie's birth. I wanted Edward to profess his undying love for Bella again at her human death scene.. to perhaps dim the pain of the change some
Overall, I didn't hate it. I guess i just need to sleep on it some more. There were a few good scenes in there. I'm just glad that Edward and Bella can be "forever and forever and forever"

I completely agree. But I have mixed feelings about it. I like the book but it's sad because it's the finale of Bella's POV.
I went to look at the board on Amazon and man people were pissed off bad. They were saying Bella is a horrible mother like Britney Spears, or the author was drunk and inhaling pixie sticks and everyone should go to the Burning Dawn Tour. Like WTF?! They did not have to go THAT far to ambush the book. I believe she had a reason to write this. It was her way of closing the story and to an author, all they want is a happy ending for their fictional babies ^^
I'm repeating myself here but wth I'm saying it again.
How in the world did B+E have a child and how will N+J's kid turn out like? I really want to talk to Stephenie about this. I hope she makes a Breaking Dawn Q&A page on her website.
As for the movie. I believe it's going to be a hit. If anyone is smart enough, they shouldn't base the Twilight movie off of BD. And if the reviews are good, I hope Summit only goes up the book 2 and create their own little ending.

QUOTE (Guernica @ Aug 2 2008, 11:24 PM)

I don't know but I think if Jacob ended up imprinting on anyone else, people would be like w-t-f too. Jacob needed a happy ending. I don't think Stephenie Meyer wanted Jacob missing out on love like the rest of us. I honestly don't understand people who are thinking along the lines of, "Why NESSIE? It would of been better if he didn't imprint at all!"
Like if that was to happen and Jacob didn't find love, I think I would of been very disappointed. I didn't want the story to end with me asking questions like, "So what about Jacob? Does he not get a chance at love?"
And to those who say, "Anyone but Nessie!"
... Who else is there for him to imprint on? Leah? No way, that would of been worse! Some random girl that Jacob picked out from a crowd? One of the fellow werewolves having a sister/cousin/niece that we didn't know about and him imprinting on her? No way.
Stephenie Meyer did what she could. She didn't even know Jacob was going to turn into such a big character until the end of Twilight. Bella was always destined to be with Edward and Jacob was just always on the sidelines. I'm just glad she chose to give Jacob a happy ending also. Yeah..... kind of twisted and "ew" for it to be Bella's daughter... but then again, it turned out to be better than any other scenarios I could think of.
In my opinion, it would've been alright if Jacob imprinted on a new character. I mean he technically did, Renesme Carlie Cullen, but the fact that she's Bella and Edward's daughter makes it so awkward/wrong. We got to know a ton of new characters in this book, and maybe if you subtract one vampire we got to know, Meyer could've shoved in a new girl for Jacob instead. And even then, maybe Jacob could've imprinted on a totally different vampire (like one of the amazons, lol... just joking about that) and that vampire decided to stay with Carlisle's family b/c she likes their way of life and to be with Jacob. Seriously, there could've been other possibilities. But why does Bella get to have everything she wants? By luck, or rather Meyer's crazy plot, Jacob gets to stay near Bella like she always wanted. What if going somewhere else with the girl he imprinted on is better for him? He could get away from the girl who broke his heart (but no longer cares for in that way), and be with his soulmate while Bella deals with it. As she should, since she knew what her choice (Edward) would mean losing Jacob. He shouldn't have to stay tied to the girl who never loved him more than a friend. If anything I think Jacob deserves to be happy the most.But OK, I know the book is already written and I can't do anything about it. That's just my opinion about Jacob/Renesme. =_=;;
Anyways, I had a question about Kate:OK, so Bella's crazy mind shield could shield against Kate's power of electricity. Does that mean she only makes people think they are being shocked? Because I seriously thought that Kate's power was physical, but then what do you know! Bella can shield it. Am I the only person who thought that Meyer was not specific enough or did I miss something?

I finished that book and I don't hate or love it. I'm neutral because it's not completely wasted. Still Jacob's imprint makes things so complicated and super awkward however it did help to have an Alpha on Nessie's side for her protection. The sex scenes was a disappointment and Edward totally lost his minds when Bella got pregnant. Poor man:tears: , I hate the name Renesmee (WTF!) Nessie is funnier. I'm glad to see Bella mature with Nessie around. The wolves are love guys! Especially Seth and his love for the Cullens
. I liked that part where Bella made Jane screamed and wished that at least one of the Volturi would be killed oh well.. I want more B/E scenes though

I didn't dress up. Only 10 fans dressed up at our local bookstore.
I was like the 20/30th person in line. Our BNA was packed. Instead of numbers, they had different color wristbands with a letter on it and each group letter had roughly about 15 people. I was letter C which was a red color because I reserved beforehand. My friend didn't reserved and she was a color white and her letter was J. I couldn've been in letter A because I arrived at 8:15 PM but I was stupid enough to think that our BNA didn't have enough publicity to attract Twilight fans =0= ROFL. I learned my lesson. PAGE OWNAGE, MY THOUGHTS ON BREAKING DAWN
At first I did not like Breaking Dawn.
Book One: Bella i liked but Book Two: Jacob i did not like at all.
Don't get me wrong it has nothing to do with Jacob, I found it refreshing seeing from someone elses perspective and the clarity of Jacob's thoughts. However i disliked the events in Book Two: Jacob. It lost the "Twilight" feel to it (this has nothing to do with the werewolves more like Bella's pregnancy) and it was depressing.
Book Three: Bella I loved the most. The "Twilight" feel totally came back.
I loved Breaking Dawn. There was a sense of closure to it and it ended on a happy note. Sure there were eyebrow raising parts (Bella getting pregnant, Jacob imprinting Bella's child and the ever so evident foreshadowing!) and the sense of betrayal (on SM's part, with everything she had said leading up to the release) but the ending made up for it.

I'm going to side with the minority here and say that I adored Breaking Dawn. What is all this talk about how Stephenie Meyer broke her own rules? I wasn't aware that there were actually any rules in fiction. I've read enough books to know when that an author adamantly says that something CANNOT happen, she/he always finds a loophole just to surprise us readers.
I actually liked that Edward and Bella had a child together. I actually liked that her name is Nessie. I actually liked that Jacob imprinted on her. And most of all, I actually liked that Bella stopped being such an annoying, whining, selfish weakling. And also, this book did not ruin Edward for me, as I didn't see anything wrong with him being so torn up inside because he thought his wife was dying. I am glad that I read the book first before I jumped the Burning Dawn bandwagon.

the series, as a whole, is undoubtedly a great series. the first book, twilight, is hands down the BEST out of the series, that includes breaking dawn. i agree with what shy-Love said...book two aka new moon lost that great twilight feel. it was good, but so disappointing after twilight. even though i wasn't a big fan of book two, book three aka eclipse kind of made up for the lacking-ness of new moon.
my thoughts on breaking dawn [they're kind of vague, but i feel like it still gives stuff away]
breaking dawn was good in that it tied up all the loose ends except for maybe one [and it wasn't really that big of a deal], but that was to leave the book open to possible continuation. it answered all the questions. by the end of the book, i didn't find myself asking plot or character questions. i felt like everything was resolved and that everything i wanted to happen to bella, edward and rest of the characters HAPPENED. however, i had one problem with breaking dawn and that was the lack of that great suspense that meyer had shown us in twilight and eclipse. i felt like she had sacrificed that suspense to give a little too perfect happy ending. i'm glad it ended well, but i wished that the ending confrontation could have been way more epic and that the happy ending hadn't come that easily to them. i felt like there should have been a sense of great sacrifice, kinda like in the ending of the harry potter series. i'm not saying that their happiness didn't come at a price, because it did...but it just came a little too easily and a little perfect for my liking.
undoubtedly, breaking dawn was satisfying, but i felt that it didn't realize it's potential to be to the twilight saga as the seventh harry potter book was to the harry potter series. [i don't mean to compare the two series because i feel that they are VERY different. i just think that this is a good analogy]
my ranking of the books in the series:
1. twilight [definitely the best]
tied for 2. eclipse and breaking dawn [although i'm leaning a bit towards breaking dawn]
4. new moon

it really bothers me when someone says "Breaking Dawn was bad."
i thought it was good. not as good as the original twilight, of course... it was not bad. stephenie meyer has got talent. she's brilliant.
there were things that bothered me, of course. at some points, i, myself, didn't like it... but i think after i finished it, over all, i enjoyed it.
renesmee. that was a huge twist. i seriously thought this book was going to be centered on bella's love for edward and love/guilt for jacob. i didn't see that one coming at all. i really liked it. when it came to the end of bella's story, and it switched to jake, i was like "nooooo!"
that rosalie? really hate her now. but everyone's feelings for renesmee really touched me. renesmee was really ... <3 awh. i loved her. esp. when edward realized he could hear her.
let me just say... jake is absolutely hilarious. i was rolling around laughing hysterically when bella realized he imprinted.
but that was another thing that bothered me.
he was so passionately in love with bella in newmoon & eclipse.. and after the baby, it was all gone? i guess that's imprinting... but it was hard for me to adjust to jacob's new feelings. and how he didn't feel as strongly about bella. but i'm happy for him. he got his happy ending. he really deserved it. <3 i love jake. i think he's my favorite character.
bella's transformation. totally kick ass <3
i love her so muchhhh. her powers. she's awesome! (:
and i'm so glad that they're all happy. (:
<33
awh, really?
it seems a lot of people didn't like new moon as much.
i liked it a lot. i was in love with jake. it was sort of ... his book.
and i think i broke down hysterically at the beginning of the book... (just incase for the people who didn't read newmoon...) when edward leaves bella. i was so glad to have jake come in. <3
i think one reason why people didn't like it... was because bella kind of lost it. she wasn't the strong, intelligent girl she was when she met edward.
i liked the ending of new moon. in italy, when they first met the volturi. i was so so relieved when bella found edward and they were reunited. (:
i love this series.<3

Book One: Bella - it was very "Twilight-Y". I really liked it and how edward was really sweet.
Book Two: Jacob - i hated it. i absolutley hated it. Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against Jake. I just couldn't wait to read more about Edward

it just annoyed the me so much.
Book Three: Bella - Very ... weird. This last piece did not feel like Stephenie at all. I did not like the fact how the characters feel different to me. It actually pissed me off that Alice seemed kind of rude. And i did not like the name Renesmee. And i'm also confused about the Ness-Renesmee. ohh and i was super suprise when
Jake phased in front of Charlie. gahh.
i also hated the fact that Rose was after Bella's baby. It ... it wasn't right.
And edward knew that.
Blah, and how
jake and that renesmee kid falls in "like" with each other. over all, i'm just really confused about how i feel about Breaking Dawn. My favorite book is still TWILIGHT

it rocks the whole saga...please don't bash at me
edward is still sweet as ever. i also forgot what my edward looked like all thanks to robbert pattensin...
but i think i got it back
all in all, i'm quite dissapointed.

ARG! What's the whole point of them going without a loud bang in the end?
omg...yes! my exact sentiments about the end. where was the climax? where was the epic fight that we were set up to believed. i think that this is what disappointed me the most about breaking dawn.

I loved New Moon. As much as I like Twilight, New Moon was even better. I had a connection with the book because it was a tear-jerker. When I cry, I know that it is a worthy story and when Edward left, it meant that their love was more than just a teenage romance. Then when Jake came in the picture, I fell infactuated with him. He was different from the perfect Edward. This is JMHO. I'm not surprised that there are only a few who liked New Moon as much I do.

true dat.
it was pretty disappointing.
they had all the volturi test out their abilities, though.
i think i'd enjoy the movie form of breaking dawn. (: visual isn't the same as our imagination.
