tahaha

been some days and already there is such a big fuss! notice theres some people who like the trilogy and others who dislike it. i completely understand where the thoughts of those who oppose the story are coming from. i get it but i think its just a little ridiculous how those people are just over analyzing the book and the author's intent for each of the characters. if i ever feel like i'm in class with a English professor i need not go anywhere but ask for a show here or maybe where people are going to sarcastically criticize others and look down upon them. don't get me wrong, i get the point where you're getting at and why you feel Stephenie Meyers writing is not up to par or the flaws you strike in her characters but still do you really need to express your views in a way as though looking down upon others is not enough? talking about how sad it is that people are
actually into this book? tsk,

sounds more like you were more effected by this thread than you intended. and yes, i'm also a fan of the book so does that stereotype me as an oversensitive, obsessed fan who is just trying to defend the author and her book just because i'm a
fan of the fictional characters? no, in truth i do like the story and the author's writing. i was just offended by the negative analysis of the story and the way fans were being belittled just because they for some reason like a book you don't like

. yes, your opinions are allowed in this thread but there is a difference between disliking the book and criticizing it to the point where even sarcastically making rude comments about others is not enough

.
oh, yeah and the Korean covers are to die for. love'm! but i'll still go for the origional cover. its more...

Actually - I think it might be intresting. If you read then end carefully - she leaves an opening for another saga because in
6.5 years Nessie will be fully grown and Jacob will have competition from the other half immortal. She said that she wasn't sure if she was ready to leave the Twilight world just that Bella's story was done with BD so I think that there might be more from Edward's perspective (she isn't giving up Midnight Sun I think she's just taking a break) and will continue the story for
Nessie and Jacob and what's his face.

and those who dont like bella swan for whatever reason, SHE IS JUST A CHARACTER. meyers created her for a reason, if you dont like her, well so be it, in the end she is still going to be the main character of the book. there is nothing you can do.
Well, I never said I wanted to do anything about it. Just expressing my opinion about how Bella makes a terrible main character. Actually, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't hate her as much if SM didn't write from Bella's POV.
I would much rather take Jacob over Edward. :3 I think Jacob's a much more developed character than Edward, and is much cooler. But Robert Pattinson is way too hot to resist. Ugh.

the korean covers, edward looks like a 7th grader or something....but he does have the look that i thought edward would have had.
ok so i read twilight, new moon, and am on eclipse right now. i liked twilight because it was new to me but i don't like new moon or eclipse. they seem repetitive and bella is kind of annoying in them. i mean she's better in the eclipse then in new moon but she seems kind of childish and somewhat all about herself (i wouldn't necessarily call her self-centered or selfish but she does border it). i barely finished new moon and can't seem to finish eclipse so that means i'll probably never get to breaking dawn and i do want to finish it since i put so much time into this series.
i do however want to watch the movie. since i love jackson rathbone and i do like the girl that will be playing bella.
there really is no point to my comment, i'm just putting out there my opinion on this series.

so i have a question, hopefully someone here can help me out lol
so i've been trying to figure out if stephanie meyer is going to continue the
twilight saga, cause with the ending of breaking dawn she obviously left room to
continue....i do know shes writting midnight sun (or twilight in edward's ptv) but i
was wondering do any of you guys know if she is going to actually continue
the story instead of re-writing them in diff ptvs?
i was researching and i heard from some ppl that she said in an interview that
she is writing a 6th and 7th book in alice's and jasper's ptv...does anyone know if this is
true? and do any of you know which interview? or the link to the interview?
and if this is true do any of you know if these books will be like a re-written one like midnight
sun or a continuation of the story?....someone help me im dieing to know!

thanx in advance

The Korean cover for the books are amazing!
So I finally finished Breaking Dawn. It took forever because the storyline didn't take a hold of me like Twilight did. I finished Twilight in like 2 days. It took me about 2-3 weeks to finish Breaking Dawn. The beginning was torturing to read for me. It was boring and... the way that SM portrayed Bella made me dislike Bella for that first couple of chapters.. like all Bella wanted was sex or something (in POV). I also hated reading the parts where Bella was so desperate for Jake.. like she was openly loving him in front of Edward. Argh. That ticked me off. Such a selfish act. However, the last half of the book got a lot more interesting! :] I loved how Bella turned out in the immortal world. The ending was thoroughly satisfying. I still don't understand why a lot of people complained about Breakin Dawn... but at least I'm happy with it! I don't regret buying the whole saga! I don't think I ever spent so much money on books before!

Why? Here are a few reasons:
-really, really, REALLY creepy storyline that pretty much condones pedophilia (even though it was sort of introduced earlier in the series, it really fleshes out to be nausea inducing here)
-most of the characters were out of character
-lack of adherence to the canon (aka magically changing her own rules to go along with her plot)
- increase in random fanfiction-esqe dialogue, characterization, and events
I'm not even gonna touch on the relationship dynamics that work its way through the entire series.

^^...when you say out of character which character were you talking about? i didnt find any of them to be out
of character...well i was a tiny bit annoyed with bella but...not enough to say she was out of character BD lol i do
agree with "increase in random fanfiction-esqe dialogue, characterization, and events " lol
i also do agree with you that BD definatly wasnt what i was expecting from SM for the LAST book of the saga there were many things
i found i disliked (i.e the ending lol) but what i dont understand is why all three of her books (Twilight, NM, BD)
were absoloutly amazing, super-well written and just perfect plotting and then randomly her last one sucks and lacks soo much
it doesnt make sense to me, like shes obviously is a brilliant author and didnt randomly get lucky with her first 3 books then how
come her last book is lacking in so many ways?
at the end of the book the only thing i could think of was....wow did j.k. rowling end harry potter with
"harry and voldemort shook hands and went their own ways,... happily ever after!" lmao
i really thought that SM couldve been quite as brilliant as j.k rowling but after BD im not 100% sure...

^^Well, Bella is the prime example, but then you have the severe character downgrades of the rest of the Cullens, especially Alice. For a group of immortal beings who don't sleep, have learned every language there is, have multiple degrees and gone through medical school a couple times over- they aren't very bright. I mean, Carlise, the doctor, can't figure out what the half-vampire baby could possibly be thirsty for! The family dynamic got a bit too Brady bunch imo, they cared about each other yes, but I dunno I think the random nicknames (when the characters had always been rather on the prim side- yknow being raised a century or two ago).
I will not lie and act like I was impressed by Meyer's writing in the first three books, but those were bearable for the most part. BD was a train wreck.

Oh okay. I guess I can see the reasons now. I think I was happy with the ending mainly because I would hate to see anyone of the characters die (exception of Irina). But I thought the ending was too good to be true.. because they made such a big deal the whole situation... then suddenly it ended so happily.. it seemed fake somehow. I don't necessary blame SM though. She said that even if she rewrote BD 10 years from now, she would still end BD the way way. So as long as she's happy with her writing, then we can't really complain too much. It's her books & it's her choice if she wants to end the saga happily.

omg yess. i agree with everything. it seems like the author is changing her set of rules from the beginning just to go with her plot. The change is too sudden and drastic, it's like "destroying" the very perfect twilight universe setted up by the first 3 books.
And one of the main conflict in the book, the love triangle between Jacob, Bella, and Edward, resolved in one little paragraph with Jacob imprinting on Nessie. what a way to solve the problem.
but oh well, she likes it like that, we can't do anything about it. >.<

Seriously, has no one brought up the whole "Claire" and "Quil" name issue? Clare Quilty was the monstrous pedophile from Nabokov's famous "Lolita." He stalks the young Dolores (Lolita) when she's a young teen and she eventually runs off with him because she thinks she's in love. It turns out, he was just another pervert and he tries to force her to do a bunch of sex films.

So, yeah...as soon as I read about Quil and Claire in Meyer's book, I raised an eyebrow. Strange.

You guys are right about breaking dawn...the chracters were kinda off, the author started making things up in the final chapters, and i didnt like how "nothing happned". . .it really does seem like there could be a continuing book since this "conflict" was left unsolved..its just up to the author to finish it. ... i woulda liked to have more edward/bella love conflicts in the last book. they were all so lovey dovey thruout the whole book...it was boring to read. i mean, thats really why i got into the series..cuz of the romance...how can it be satisfying without any "romantic problems"..i mean..a baby??..thats far out from romantic.

Yeah, I feel like...that would be an awfully big coincidence or just plain strange that she put that in. Maybe she was trying to show off with literary allusions, but uh, it didn't make me think, "Wow, she was so intelligent that she made a reference to Vladimir Nabokov!" it just made me think, "Uh...really?"

okay...so i just finished reading breaking dawn yesterday. may contain spoilers if you didn't read it O__O
and i must say...i was really disapointed =(
I felt that most of the characters lost their...traits?
Lost the awesome quotes...just didn't have that 'umpf' that twilight and the eclipse had.
As much as i tried to get into it, i just couldn't get the 'feeling' that i had for edward and bella
when i read the first three books. Like sure things were happening and stuff..but i just couldn't get into it --;
Even the ending..i didn't feel anything. I felt the the whole thick book was all just stalling ..and talk. ..it's like she lost the characters..like they were just names in the book..not like real people you could imagine..not real enough..and was focusing on the story too much.
UGH. and especially the ending..huge disapointment. I read that whole book filled with build up, and then in the end whoo alice jumps in, saves the day ...hiphip horray...happily ever after

cliche.
-sigh. anywho, i'm looking forward to midnight sun. i feel like reading twilight over again to be reminded of how good it was..=)

It was cute and I liked the fact that they had a kid and all... even though it may have seemed cliche, I'm a sucker for happily ever after endings... but i did wish their was a huge fight at the end... it was too short for my liking... it felt like she half-ass the fighting scene.

i believe i'm a sick person huh?

i know its not so hard to think of the negatives and the flaw of the book/her writing but yes like you've said i'm looking at it in a different
light? i've pushed basically everything everyone has thought of *the negatives* and set it aside to appreciate the story more. its not your typical romance story, and yeah maybe its not too realistic on a couple of things ie its also a sci-fi. i'm kind of trying to see inside the author's head if you get what i'm saying? i mean its so easy to depict and critique whats wrong from the book *obviously* but at the same time i'm trying to see the story from the author's way of writing and thinking. why did she write this? to why did she put this in here? and just the simple questions. i know its kind of foolish to think i can decipher what the author was thinking when she wrote this trilogy but hey, i'm looking at it in a different
light?

I personally loved new moon and twilight...but stephanie meyer lost me at eclipse..I brought the book almost a year ago and i never finished it. I only read it half way through and then stopped...cause the story line was getting boring. I picked it up half a year later and read 3 chapters and completely stopped.
I think bella was really weak in eclipse, she has no opinion of her own. everything edward says she would follow. she's also a little cowardice. I felt the love she has for edward didn't feel real. (if this makes sense)...
Maybe i've always like the strong heroine instead of a weak one, so i view Bella as pathetic.
I agree with some comments. The characters have lost their 'sparks'. Also, there are so many characters for me to keep track of...i'd get so lost sometimes and it'd be difficult just to go back and recap the story. I hope Meyer would make like a character chart..hehe.
sigh..this is just my opinion.

I hope Meyer would make like a character chart..hehe.
sigh..this is just my opinion.
i think i was sorta like going WTH when bella went through the "i dont wanna
get married yet" phase.
i was also abit disappointed LOL
