QUOTE (NumbaOne @ Nov 3 2008, 10:23 PM)

Yeah I hated the ending of the book as well. I mean I'm not an uber-fan either, but I thought that the ending was a little too "fanfiction-y." For one thing, it felt like the drama of the book was sacrifised for the safety of the characters. Not to say that I wanted someone to get hurt or anything, but with the amount of precautions the Cullens took it seemed warranted. And also the fact that that half vampire half human guy was conveniently found in enough time to prevent a battle from occurring was a less that cleverly disguised plot device. I know Alice has accurate powers for premonition but they have also been rendered useless at times. I thought it would have been a little harder to find him. I don't know, maybe I was just expecting more of a tragedy.
YA! exactly what i thought!!
With the whole random dude at the end...
I expected a HUGE epic battle (kinda like HP... although I thought that ending was pretty weak too), and I thought people would actually die?
Not that I WANTED them to die, but I was half expecting it since it IS a story about tragedy and such...
I didn't expect a happily ever after thought -__-'
It was just way too nicely tied together for my taste.

i have just finished new moon...
i know a little late but i can give you a thousand reasons and it still wouldn't suffice...
anyways...i liked it...somehow...
i like jacob and his character...enjoyed it actually...but i loved edward...
i know it was bella's point of view and everything but there was the first 2-3 chapters...i think...and then the last two chapters that actually included edward and his growl...i loved twilight because he and bella were so good together but without him in the picture...it kind of bored me...some of the pages i had to read twice to actually comprehend...but it was nice...
and the parts that did include edward by the end of the book had so little to say about him...nothing new...
i liked how they always argue with each other it wasn't like when jacob and bella were fighting...bella surrendered to jacob most of the time...first to say she's sorry and everything...
with edward she fought hard to make him understand...
honestly i wanted edward to save bella not jacob...but i love jacob's character...but i'm in love with edwards'...
yes the relationship between them intrigued me but i just missed edward...
most of the scenes where jacob was in was fun but some were like a flashback of what edward used to do before he left...just less careless, more romantic and more surprising...
i liked the book but i love edward...
i'm planning to buy the next book...eclipse...around next week...because of i and my father's differences in what to read...i have to sneek around while reading both twilight and eclipse...i have to lie to his face in order to read this series...but it's worth it...im soo0000 in love with edward...
anyways, what did you guys thought of the book when you read it???

I think you should tell the bookstore what happened with the book.
You should also tell them that you didn't start reading the book until this week.
It's not suppose to be that way.

I'm about to start Breaking Dawn. I'm kinda getting the feeling I might just break something, though... >___> I have a real attachment to Jacob Black, so Edward is irking me to every bit. = . = And I know exactly how it won't end. ; - ;

i know what you mean! i LOVE LOVE LOVE jacobs character but i love edward with bella too soooo...

i really loved the twilight series! but of all four books new moon was the slowest one for me. ALTHOUGH it was slow, it really made me love jacobs character. with that being said, i was really disappointed in jacobs ending. i mean, i KNEW bella and edward would end up together, but i just hoped jacob could have more than what the ending gave him.

AND I REALLY WANTED AN ALL OUT BATTLE AGAINST THE VOLTURI. boooo :[

because i have this thing for good books...i highlight all the cool parts so...i read new moon again...
i started this morning until i got to this part and i kind of got lost...i didn't notice it before so i dont know if its just my copy of the book...
page 65...the part where bella got all her pictures developed and was in the process of arranging them:
QUOTE
i got to the picture of edward and me,and, without looking at it long, i folded it in half and stuck it under the metal tab, edward side up
so i was assuming that she folded the picture which charlie took at the living room...at first it didn't made sense...why not just put in its place the first picture she ever took of edward which was at charlie's kitchen since that picture had a more happy edward...but i thought that maybe she's saving that picture to send to her mother with all the other pictures she took...
but then this came up:
page 84...the part wherein bella discovered that edward had erased all his traces...
QUOTE
the page was blank except for my own handwriting scrawled across the bottom: edward cullen, charlie's kitchen, sept. 13th.
it said that the picture she placed there was the first pic...the picture on charlie's kitchen, but page 65 said that she placed the picture of her's and edwards'...
help me...the date is wrong ...i counted...and the place too...
it wasn't charlie's kitchen...it was the living room...
and it wasn't bella's birthday...it was a day after her birthday...the 14th not the 13th...
am i seeing this the wrong way???

as much as i love this book, her writing isn't fantastic
i feel like i see some of the expressions being used over and over again, and that sometimes it just doesn't quite flow.
but nevertheless. i still love it

hahaha
new moon could've been written better as well. too little edward. too little impact in certain parts in my opinion.
going to finish off the other 2 as soon as exams are finished (in two days!!)

it was a bit cheesy in the beginning, the first book was just screaming cheesy in my face...but in a good way later on. i like corny, i've been looking for corny all my life.
breaking dawn, though.... i kind of didn't like how it all turned like...a showing off of special powers. it reminded me of an anime seriously. but yeah, overall it's good. i just didn't see the need for the passport for jacob and renesmee after it was all over... or would it have something to do in the future that might happen?

dont get offended but I thought the books are overrated. It wasn't AMAZING like everyone said it was. Twilight was cute but not " OH MY GOD." I liked Edward because he seems too perfect but he's too overprotective. I also thought the book was a bit fan fictiony. And breaking dawn, everyone irritated me.
I still laugh about breaking dawn and the multiple ___ scenes

i have to fangirl about Carlisle... he's my favorite vampire in the books. I like Edward, just not that much as Carlisle... i know, i think i'm weird like that XD

I mean throughout the series, mainly the beginning, i had the urge to kill Bella every five minutes since she dramatized everything and yup he's a bit too protective.

From what I've seen, the only people who are really obsessed with the series are delusional little teenybopper freaks "hu type lyk dis brahhhh". Oh, and also, there whole life seems to revolve around how "gorgeous" and "perfect" he is, and "ohh, I wish I had a vampire boyfriend".
Twilight is utter trash. Go read some Twain, Austen or Bronte. Or at least something else which is good, intelligent literature.

okay so like a couple of weeks...or days ago i was saying that there was something wrong with new moon so i asked for help...here... to undrestand it...somehow coz i knew i was wrong...
but since no one responded to me i had to make my brother read it...and since i he's no big of a help...i re-read it which was a good thing coz i realized that there was nothing wrong with the book...i was merely hallucinating...
well...anyways...i bite my tounge...although no one responded to me i found out i was reading it all wrong...
so i guess it was a good thing that no one actually took me seriously to respond to me that way i did not get totally embarrassed...

I tried to read Twilight but I stopped midway because the pacing was blah, it wasn't worth my time. It was also obvious that the author (Meyer) lacks the skills of a writer. Character development was poor, the sequence of events was poor, and the list goes on. I just don't get what the Twilight fuzz is all about. It's just...crappy.

Yes shes not a "writer" she even admits to that

she had the thing come to her in a dream for goodness sakes
for not being a writer she can definitely create an intriguing plot
and theres more to reading than just 'good' literature- its refreshing to read for mere fun/guilty pleasure sometimes
i love all of the books<3 great story

I just finished reading the draft of "Midnight Sun" (the Edward POV)
And it totally proved how obsessed and stalkerish he was. The way he described how he felt.
I reckon it was better than the "Bella" POV because it was just too adorable for words
... the way he was nervous, the way he was so hopeful with every one of Bella's reaction, so adorable.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it's postponed indefinitely. The release of Midnight Sun.
Meyer said that she was unhappy that her draft was released and she will only write the novel in 2 years when "everyone has forgotten it"
What? How could she do this? I'm so angry at the leakers. But I'm glad she posted the first few chapters since she thought it was only fear.

Aw, it's sad you feel that way. I mean, people like different books. Some people like dull books and some people like weird stuff like erotic novels.
Can we blame them for their preferences? Anyways, have you actually READ it? I said the same thing and I ended up read each book in a day.
I have to disagree with your generalizing comment though. It was kind of mean..
But I have to admit, I agree with how ridiculously superficial the book is. It seems that if Edward was ugly, Bella would see nothing but a rude man.
I think the book totally deranges little girl's head. To be honest, I think you need to be a bit mature in the head instead of teeny boppy. If not, those girls are going to grow up thinking the perfect man was Edward, a violent, blood thirsty, stalkerish man.
And IMO to previous commenters... New Moon was pretty slow. How dare they only put 1/3 of Edward!!!

I actually liked New Moon because Jacob is fun and isn't so protective of Bella as Edward. And it was quite exciting when she reunites with Edward =]
For the haters, it really is preference, sure, there are a lot of grammar mistakes and isn't mind boggling to read, but its an unconventional love story with an interesting plot.

Yep. I thought it'll be interesting, but it's the contrary. I stopped mid-way, too. It's like an annoying fanfiction of some teenage girl falling for a bad guy; filled with nothing but sexual tensions. The transitions and writing style is awful and just unbearble. I'm truly dissappointed.

i'm now, at the third book, eclipse... IMO, it is a bit dragged..
even thou, people say new moon too little edward.. but i still like it!
SM really good in describing the feeling of a heartbroken girl.. it is so realistic in a way
edward is really her first true love, no wonder she is so mess-up after edward leaving her..
it really make me tear up the way bella feel --> "holding something that she already lost"..

Twilight: I love that book, it's more amusing imagining Bella getting frustrated with Edward. Edward teasing, mocking, stalling Bella when her admirers tried asking her out. Yes, yes, it gets tiring the way she always describes how of god he looks. But who can blame her? When people have their own obsessions on their new interest on celebs?
New Moon: Hell I thought I was the only one interested in this book. It was really sad when Edward left Bella. Tissue moment.(suggest you read it alone) Yes, agree with Farah it describes what every person who went through heartbreaking when their first love left them. Depression, dead, lifeless...lacking interest what things remind you of that person But there's always a person there that bring them back a little bit. I liked Jacob being in here. Friendship developing more and more every time Bella go visits him. The way Jacob is very observant with every little things Bella does. He knew she wasn't interested in music anymore to avoid any reminders of the pain. Even though Bella went a little insane there hearing voice. When she's in danger. I do love the werewolf scene. It made perfect sense why the pack line returned, because the vamps returned.

^^.. yeah.. totally agree with u fesha about jacob..
he really observant about bella.. even about little stuff like..
the way bella hold or hug herself when she thinking about memories of edward..
really tear me up when i imagined that....
ohh.. i also tear up when charlie describe bella behavior to alice...
bella is always mature in emotion, but during her heartbreak, she really like the others teenager afterall..
oh.. i am really a tearjerker!

So I'm new to this whole Twilight series. I watched the movie (online, hah) and it was pretty terrible. But I wanted to give the series a chance because I thought there had to be some good reason behind all the hype. That said, I liked Twilight quite a bit. It wasn't well-written (at all) but somehow the story kept me interested. Interested enough for me to finish it within a day. Now I'm about halfway through New Moon. Quite frankly I'm really bored so far.. what with all this werewolf stuff.
I also read a bit of Midnight Sun and it was pretty cool! I liked how Stephenie created more complexities for the minor characters (like Jessica, whose mind Edward could read). Too bad this book won't be finished :[ I'd much rather have Edward's POV on everything. Are we supposed to LIKE Bella in these books? Because...... I don't. And I've noticed most people don't.
I kinda liked watching the movie first, because now when I read the books I have faces that I can visualize. And who wouldn't want to have an image of Rob Pattinson all day long? haha
BTW, these stats about "Twilight" are brilliant:

I think the reason she posted the partial draft is because she's not going through with finishing Midnight Sun at all, since early chapters were leaked out.
