I probably won't watch the movie unless people say it's actually good because I hated when they turn a best seller into a poopy movie.
Q_Park
I can't wait until the movie comes out!
but i really hope that it doesn't turn bad.
but the chances are likely.

i was debating the future of twilight series with my sister all morning yesterday.
AND I THOUGHT OF AN EDWARD CANDIDATE!!!
CHASE CRAWFORD! He plays Nate Archibald from the Gossip Girl tv series.
Honestly, i think the FANS should be the ones who cast not some people at companies.

all he needs to do is shave and a paler face.

Los Angeles, CA November 16, 2007 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Kristen Stewart will star as “Bella Swan” in the production of the feature film TWILIGHT, the thriller-romance based on Stephenie Meyer’s publishing phenomenon. The film, which begins production February 2008, will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, with Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP) having adapted the script. Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and Greg Mooradian will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.

TWILIGHT tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward, a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together…even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires. Their unorthodox romance puts her in physical danger when Edward’s nemesis comes to town and sets his sights on Bella.

Erik Feig, Summit Entertainment’s President of Production stated, “We at Summit are truly excited about the franchise potential of this remarkable Romeo and Juliet story. Of course, you are only as good as your Juliet and Kristen Stewart has that magical combination of being a great actress, deeply appealing, and perfect for the part.”

Meyer’s Twilight is a cultural phenomenon, hitting legions of readers of all ages, that has spawned two sequels including New Moon and Eclipse. Twilight is a #1 New York Times Best Seller and has been lauded by critics. Twilight’s recent sequel Eclipse most recently debuted at #1 on the USA Today bestseller list unseating the newest Harry Potter.

Erik Feig along with Summit Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Production, Geoff Shaevitz, and Creative Executive Gillian Bohrer will oversee the project for the studio.

Kristen Stewart was introduced to worldwide audiences with her outstanding performance alongside Jodie Foster in PANIC ROOM. Stewart can now be seen in INTO THE WILD for director Sean Penn. She is currently shooting the female lead role in ADVENTURELAND opposite Ryan Reynolds and Jesse Eisenberg for director Greg Mottola. She will soon be seen in a starring role in the independent film THE CAKE EATERS for director Mary Stuart Masterson, the independent film YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF alongside William Hurt and Maria Bello and a supporting role in WHAT JUST HAPPENED alongside Robert De Niro and Sean Penn for director Barry Levinson.

Stewart’s additional film credits include IN THE LAND OF WOMEN, THE MESSENGERS, ZATHURA, SPEAK, FIERCE PEOPLE, CATCH THAT KID, UNDERTOW, COLD CREEK MANOR and THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS.

Stewart is represented by The Gersh Agency and lawyer Joel McKuin at Colden McKuin & Frankel.

Karen Barna, Summit’s Director of Business Affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of the studio.

***A note from Stephenie about the casting of Kristen Stewart:

I'm very excited to have Kristen Stewart play Bella in the upcoming Twilight movie. She's an amazing actress with experience all across the board—action, horror, comedy, romance, and more. Since Twilight has moments that fit into every one of these genres, I'm thrilled to have a Bella who has practice with them all.

Summit's vision of the Twilight movie continues to dovetail very closely with mine, and I'm comforted to know that my "baby" is in the right hands.

For every actress that has been suggested as Bella in the past few years, there are always a slew of critics that cry, "But she doesn't look like Bella!" (Which can often be translated thusly: "She doesn't look like ME!") To this I would like to say: "Of course she doesn't!" Bella is a fictional character, and she looks different to everyone. As is the same with every actor who will be cast in the next few months, no one is going to match up with your mental picture exactly—or mine. The thing to hope for is a really great actor who can make us believe she is Bella (or Alice or so forth) for roughly two hours. I think we've got that with Kristen Stewart, and I can't wait to see her step into the role!

oh wow. theres actually a thread for this series
she did a good job ^__^
it was one of my favorite books in middle school
plot is veryvery nice
the only turn off is that the books are so draggy in the middle
and the endings are really rushed
but eh
oh yea i heard about the movie...
im not that excited for it
books turned movies are usually bad (referring to the movie)
but stewart? up there seems pretty cool for the role

I posted this in the Twilight movie thread.

There's rumors all over the communities that Colton Haynes is going to be playing Edward.

I personally think he's not bad playing Edward and they would need to give him contacts to have the golden eyes.

Get more Twilight news

We just learned that Summit Entertainment is already planning on a sequel to Twilight, the vampire film being directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown)! The character 'Victoria' is being cast as a supporting character in the first film and will become the lead in the sequel. Kristen Stewart has already joined the cast. The film is about a high school girl named Bella falls in love with a vampire. The new couple leads a rival vampire clan to pursue them and attempt to force her to decide if she, too, wishes to become one of the undead. The adaptation is based on a novel that hatched Stephenie Meyer's bestselling young adult fantasy series. Shooting begins February in Vancouver, Canada."

It seems like they're going to mix Twilight and New Moon together and the second movie will be about Eclipse.

i was thinking about this and i rekcon Bella isnt human. On the first book, Jacob had said that that there were 3 types. Werewolves, Vampires and the pale one. I think Bella is the Pale one.. she has the power to block her thoughts from Edward etc... but eh.. i unno..

where does it say in the first book? i seem to keep reading it over and over but never seem to find it...
j1youngxj3
^i think it's the chapter where bella goes with mike & his friends to La Push..and they meet Jacob there..and Jacob tells the "scary stories"...remember? but I thought he said werewolves and the cold ones...i don't think he actually mentioned vampires...or pale ones..??? don't remember..

yeah i agree that chace crawford makes a good jasper!
even if it turns out to be a bad movie i'll still watch cause i'm more interested in the cast than the movie
Cause the movie can never beat the books. that's one thing i'm very sure.

i don't think he mentions the 'pale ones' all i recall is werewolves and vampires. so i'm really confused on where the 'pale ones' readers are getting. >< but i do remember the scene from La Push but no mention of 'pale ones'

same here....
after reading how everyone loves twilight how they couldn't put it down, i was pretty disappointed.
im disappointed by meyer's writing, the plot itself (rather linear and boring), and bella's character annoys me too.

however i do admit i love edwards character. (doesn't everyone want a vampire for a bf now?? haha)
i could care less for bella tho
i dont really like weak female main characters...

its books like these that make me think i shouldnt read teen fictions =X
im probably going to check out the next book to see if it improves and out of pure love for edward

getting around to it soon!

Okay so I was recommended to read the Twilight series numerous times and I finally got around to buying all three of them. I just finished the first and I completely agree with the user on the previous page who stated its just like a fanfic. IT IS! While I was reading it, halfway through, I was likee, where is the plot?? It's like the whole story is just about this unhealthy love. I mean it was enjoyable to read only because I'm fond of fanfics as a fun, light-hearted read to pass time. But it's like the author took out some hot Japanese celebs name and threw in the name Edward. Whatever. My point is, I was horribly disappointed.

Even old people and boys like good series like HP and Narnia. Not Twilight. It's more of a ..chick-fantasy-teen-thing. Not really recommended unless your in the mood for fanfics.

Just imagine a teen who wrote a fanfic for her favorite spazzworthy [Asian?] celebrity. Got it published. And had enough money to publicize it. Many fanfics do get published [after changing the celebrity names due to copyright and legal junk] but they aren't widely recognized because the author usually has limited [or no] money to spare for publicizing.

Still disappointed. I expected something near as great as Harry Potter. Not nearlyyyy as creative, fun, amazing, or action-packed.
saranghae<3
^
nothing will ever compare to Harry Potter. I really miss Harry Potter T___T

Twilight was the best among the three books.

I thought Eclipse will really stupid... how can she fall in LOVE with 2 GUYS?! If you really truly found your soul mate, shouldnt you ONLY have eyes for HIM??! It really saddened me.. T__T and Edward was totally understanding too...

I love Edward<3 he's THE perfect guy ^____^

I hope the other 2 books will be better when they come out cuz she's making the plot stupider and stupider.. <__<
sweet_hunny
^ She's conflicted but she says she's in love with Edward more anyways (GO TEAM EDWARD! laugh.gif) although she does say she likes Jacob too (poor guy!). I love the series a lot although it's a bit draggy at times but with the author's vision, she's very descriptive and has high hopes for the film adaptation although I think it's rather difficult because movies don't exactly follow the novels and makes up their own stuff sleep.gif! I'm excited for Kristen and Rob as Edward and Bella although, I still mourn over the loss of Gaspard (but it's not like he would be involved because of the age limit dry.gif). I think it's just easier to accept them and just hope they could prove us wrong because a lot of die hard fans are skeptics but I think they'll eventually accept it too smile.gif.
ArmelleLIN
Twilight :: BEST vampire fiction ever written. It can NOT be put in the same category as "other vampire books" or "other romance, fantasy, fiction book". Its just too great.

New Moon :: Perhaps the least heart-throbbing and Edward-featuring one in the series but still, [Highlight to read, spoiler] at least it holds Jacob's importance and character in the plot. Even though Bella just plain goes emo and begins to hallucinate our lovely Edward's husky voice in her head. Nonetheless, I've noticed that all the big, leave-an-imprint-in-my-memory books that are about romance with a vampire and have sequels [or are a trilogy so far and have a fourth book in the making] have to have a sequel [usually the second book] that involves the vampire leaving the maiden and the maiden going bonkers over the separation. And in the end he comes back and their "bond" becomes closer and what not, blah.

Now ECLIPSE :: was the BOMB. Lmao. The events that happened here were both shocking, made-me-twitch-and-churn-inside, and made me want to clap Bella in the face. But -sigh-, what can we do after all, right? Its their story.

P.S.:: EDWARD CULLEN OWNS MY SOUL.
hmong_lubpaj
woot!!! i just finally bought twilight yesterday after hearing that it was such a good book. i finished it and OMG i'm so in love w/edward cullen. i'm gonna go back to the store and buy eclipse and new moon!!!! can't wait for the movie =)
DarkAngelInLove
too many people love edward, I LOVE JACOB!!

I feel so bad for him that I hated the end of Eclipse.

The series is good, but JACOB!!!
Tropical Paradise x3
I read the other two since I bought them. And I can't start a series and not finish it - it irks me haha.
So the second one was so boring at first when she was depressed and especially when she got so attached to Jacob - blah. I knew instantly I was a strong Edward supporter. I can't remember much because I just finished Eclipse, and I'm confusing the three. But I also thought Eclipse was incredibly stupid how she fell for Jacob-.-; Soooo lame&annoying. And the epilogue - I hoped for Charlies reaction and that good stuff. But in the epilogue of Eclipse, Jake was thinking about Bella becoming a vampire - and he mentioned if he would be able to not kill her or something and it reminded me of Edwards selfcontrol/endurance and love that keeps him from harming Bella - against his natural instincts. But I really don't think Jake can do it. I think he's incredibly immature and annoying.

It seems like an extended version of a fanfic. Like all the complications, love, dishonesty, misunderstandings, comedy, and drama - is simply widely spread out. I did expect better from the way people raved about it so I am disappointed still..
Another read to my list though ^^
snaeha_dalis13
Ok I started reading Twilight a few days ago and I thought it was great! I really thought that the readers got it right this time since all the hype. But then I read the second one and it went way down hill. It was ok, just ok.
I'm half way through Eclipse and I'm kinda struggling. Bella is really stupid in this book IMO.

Overall, the series is just ok. I've read better. They kinda remind of L, J Smith's The Nightworld series, which I think is far superior. There's the similar love story, humour etc but there is actually a plot. Or maybe since I read these first I just tend to compare.

I got twilight as one of my christmas presents and I finished it in one day biggrin.gif
Just about to go out & buy new moon & eclipse, lol.
Love it love it so far. <3
Heard that new moon & eclipse aren't as good as twilight though ..
WENJJANG
I just got into this book from my friend,
its kinda boring because its the begining but i heard
it gets better? esp, i can see from all of you guys reactions.

xd0nut
I just got "Twilight" from my friend for Christmas, because I was like one of the only people from my group of friends that didn't read it yet. Kind of a easy read book, I finished it in 6 hours . I read until 2 in the morning during Christmas~

Edward Cullen is like perfect, huh..., but yeah, I couldn't imagine what he looked like, because I didn't exactly find his descriptions attractive, haha.. redbrown hair? pale skin? uhh....right. One thing that annoyed me was....'how many times does Bella have to ask him to stay with her?' She does NOT deserve him at all >________> At the end of the book, I was ready to kill her AHAHA

I guess I was a little dissapointed because alot of my friends were OBSESSED with it~ and I just skimmed through the begining which was kind of boring~~~

So, what was the real plot? It kind of gotten ehhh after she finds out he is a vampire..

The book was out for a long time now, but how come only a few people knew about it before? Now, its so extremely popular, like the new 'Harry Potter'(sorry to compare) book everyone likes x)
your_sheroe
I absolutely cannot put this book down. I finished the first two books within two days.
It's absolutely amazing. I'm on the third one sort of trying to take my merry time but that wont work.
So far I love all the books.
I just cannot explain how heart broken I in part two when Edward tells her he leaves her. I nearly cried.
I'm so IN LOVE WITH Edward Cullens.
He makes me wanna have a damn bloody nose.
Chiidori
Loved this series. I couldn't put the book down. I read all 3 books last week and now I'm bored out of my mind. I don't think any other Vampire book could top this. Can't wait for Breaking Dawn and the Twilight Movie.

Edward is <3 Throughout the 2nd book I kept asking when Edward would come back. I said it aloud to my sister and shw looked at me funny, haha. Bella's a lucky girl..... Alice!! I really like Alice too. Carlisle semms like a really cool guy too.

I was a little sad when I reached the last page of Eclipse. I kept flipping hoping there would be more. At least I have Breaking Dawn to look forward to (I only have to wait 8 months for it TT^TT).

Oh well, Edward~~ <3<3<3

New updates from Stephenie Meyer's MySpace Blog:

QUOTE
Happy holidays, everybody! I hope you are happy, healthy, surrounded by loved ones, warm, and done with your shopping. I'd love to run around giving all of you Porsches this year, but, since I can't, my gift to you is a peek at the Japanese illustrations from Eclipse, which are in my photos in a brand new folder. Enjoy!

My gift to myself is the best one I could have possibly given me! December 22st, at around 1:20 a.m., I finally finished the rough draft of Breaking Dawn. Hallelujah! It feels amazing to have that boulder-sized weight off my back. And now I get to relax and have fun on Christmas instead of writing all night like I have been doing up to this point.

Please, please don't read this and begin a slew of "If Breaking Dawn is done, why can't it come out NOW!" comments. I finished the ROUGH draft. Very, very rough. To put this in perspective, it took over two years from the rough draft stage of Twilight to the book being on store shelves. In general, I spend about a year to a year and a half editing a book. Don't cry, though, because both I and Little Brown's editorial staff are going to do everything in our power to get Breaking Dawn out Fall 2008. So, fingers crossed, it will be on time. Just don't ask for it to come out early because my head is already pretty close to exploding right now. (To get the rough draft done this week, I shattered a personal record by writing 40 (FORTY!!) pages in one day. That kind of thing takes a toll.)

Because I know you all love insider information, here are some stats on my other books as they compare to the length of Breaking Dawn*

* Remember, the BD numbers are based on the rough draft and will change in the editing process, but this will give you the general idea.

TWILIGHT
Pages on my computer: 475
Word count: 118,501
Pages in book form: 498

NEW MOON
Pages on my computer: 528
Word count: 132,807
Pages in book form: 563

ECLIPSE
Pages on my computer: 611
Word count: 147,930
Pages in book form: 629

BREAKING DAWN
Pages on my computer: 775!!
Word count: 192,196!!
Pages in book form: barring some kind of massive editing cut, I'm guestimating right around eight hundred pages!!

There you go, fun statistics from Stephenie's computer.

Once again, enjoy your holidays, everyone!

XOXO
Steph
