i heard that fastweb, although popular, isn't the best thing to use when searching for scholarships. people i have talked to said they've applied for scholarships they found on fastweb and have not gotten anything in return. too many people use fastweb so therefore there are a lot of applicants to each scholarship and that lowers your chances of getting anything.
try local scholarships, not nation wide ones becuase more people apply for those. but of course i haven't started applying for scholarships yet

Everyone suggests Fastweb (especially the teachers in our school >_<) but to be honest it confuses the heck outta me x_x I can never find what I want and they keep giving me stuff I'm not eligible for...o_o
Great topic, btw!!
If you're Korean and you live in the LA area, I suggest looking through the newspaper from time to time. My mom always gives me clippings from the Korean newspaper with a list of websites and stuff that are offering scholarships..>_< but I never do them XD

Hmmm...
Here's a fun one: http://www.cksf.org/index.cfm?Page=Home
And here's the FastWeb link if anyone wants it: http://fastweb.com/
This is to help with the FAFSA: http://www.finaid.org/fafsa/
And of course, protect yourself from scholarship scams: http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/scams.phtml
http://www.ftc.gov/scholarshipscams
I'll add more if I ever remember them

But I dug and found this one on student loans: http://www.nela.net/aboutstudentloans/defa...mp;default=true
And here's this Tuition Cost Calculator that I thought was cool (but never used

For financial aid, do they still give you some amount of money if you take under the required full-time student unit? (12 units minimum) cause I have to work and the classes I have to take won't fit my schedule =( I'm thinking of taking just two classes..I know, probably not? Hope this is the right section to ask. By the way, I've always recieved FAFSA but I was a full-time student then.

HAHA WOAH. The Kaiser Permanente Winners for 2007 are people from my school!
They're twins and they're crazy smart. Interestingg....
I don't know about scholarships, but if you look up NASSP Student Contests and Activities in google or yahoo, you can find a bunch of sites that you can apply and compete and win money...
I guess it's more of a contest thing, but you get A LOT of money from some of the contests.

Mar 1 2008, 09:36 PM
^I think it depends on which scholarship you're aiming for.
Because there are some scholarships where it has their own conditions. (ex: "you must be a senior in order to qualify for this scholarship")
But I'd say go search for scholarships any time!

Those seem to be the hardest ones to find, since pretty much every scholarship's first requirement is "Be a U.S citizen or permanent resident."

Other scholarships worth considering (thanks to Fastweb, but I'm posting them here since its more user-friendlier here than in Fastweb):
Profiles in Courage (JFK Scholarship) - "Describe and analyze the decisions, actions, and risks of an elected public official in the United States since 1956 who has courageously addressed a political issue at the local, state, national, or international level."

FIRE "Freedom in Academia" EssayThe FIRE's "Freedom in Academia" Essay Contest is open to U.S. high school students. https://www.thefire.org/contest.essay.php?P...f0ff485fba1e4d8One first place winner will be awarded a $5,000 college scholarship.
The second place winner will receive a $2,500 college scholarship.
Oh yeah, for those who are extremely good at making videos, I suggest looking up scholarships which relate to video-making (those exist!).

This is going to sound idiotic but.... when do we start signing up for scholarships? I am a senior this year, which means college applications are just within months; so, where does scholarships come in? When do I start apply for it?
And if I qualify and get the scholarship, what is needed to be done next? As in, do I say it in my college app? Do I notify the college when it starts?
So confused >.<
