Thanks to kokonut for creating this thread.

I've been a Man U. supporter for many years. After re-claiming the EPL title last year, I think Fegurson is setting his sight on the Champions League this year. 3 of his 4 off-season acquisitions are skilled players (Nani, Anderson, and Tevez) which should excel better in European Competitions. But Ferguson really have to field 2 different squads, one for Champions League, and one for local matches, to be effective. They have the depth to do it but in the past he is reluctant to do it. I hope it will change this year.

I've always been a bit wary about Torres, since I dislike how easily he falls (no wonder his butt's so FAT)
I do think he can be one of the best...he just needs to drop that horrible horrible habit of his...especially because I don't want him to screw up our championship chances.

I prefer Voronin over Torres...but chances are Voronin will see the bench more considering the major $$$ Liverpool doled out for Torres.
Real pity sad.gif

torres is a strong performer, when i watch him he usually battles out the ball. i just see gerrard looking for torres to score and there chemistry throughout the season will only get stonger.

i see them as the next c.ronaldo and rooney, but stonger.

anyone know anything about the young kid in arsenal? ...

what the.. ronaldo was red carded!! wat happen o_o ^@%&!%
safety_bread
k o k o n u t - not sure who you're talking about. there's a lot of young players in Arsenal.
__mill: MAN. =3 Ronaldo is out for like 3 games now. HOLY CRAP. But, here's what they are saying,

84:19 Booking
Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd) dismissed for violent conduct. Sean Davis (Portsmouth) booked for unsporting behaviour. Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd) booked for unsporting behaviour. Outswinging corner from right by-line taken right-footed by Luis Nani (Man Utd) to far post, header by Paul Scholes (Man Utd) from left side of penalty area (18 yards), over the bar.

82:24 Sent off
Foul by Sulley Muntari (Portsmouth) on Michael Carrick (Man Utd). Sulley Muntari (Portsmouth) dismissed for second bookable offence. Direct free kick taken right-footed by Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd) from own half, passed.
so much booking,

Not clearly seeing what was happening. But, the game ended anyway.

Man U vs Portsmouth

1 - 1.

We are so freakin' behind. Man U controlled so well in the 1st half. Scholes' goaled from 25 yards. Brilliant.
Tevez got an assist right? man, they were doing so well in the 1st half. What happened to that momentum??? And, where the heck is Anderson & Hargreaves?~ o__o; they should have been playing' the game. How much is Man U paying for them anyway?!! Man, we need to win this Sunday. Srsly.

Man U is defintely not getting a good start. Should have won against Reading 6-0. Instead, draw a 0-0. Not a dream start alright. =/ Rooney is injured. Park is out until January. Oh, I'm so disappointed. [Because I like Park. I want to see him play!]

The game for Chelsea and Reading ended already.

Chelsea of course, won.

2 - 1.

Reading had good opportunities to score. But, definitely... Reading and Chelsea's defense were good. But, I'm a bit disappointed with Chelsea's plays. Is it just me ? but I really don't like how Chelsea plays. Red carded for Kalifa Cisse. In my opinion, he didn't deserve that red card. What ya'll think? =p

right.... normally they get yellow card for that -__-? but wow.. so many bookings ._. i didnt even realise that

The Chelsea game was definately entertaining to watch. Drogba's Goal was amazing. But yes both teams seem like they can definately improve. Especially Chelsea's defence >_<

__mill - Usually.

Manchester City vs Derby County is on. Never mind, they already showed the match.

1 - 0.

Will be watching the game anyway. =)

once again i'm behind arsenal, but shame that henry left. Though i go for barcelona in the spanish la liga so it's ok.

what a shame anger man is out for awhile aye rolleyes.gif
at first when i saw him tumble i didn't think it was that bad. but 2 months is a sure long time.
the game with port was a shocker, but no Saha, Solskjaer, Neville and Park so...

btw, since there is a EPL thread, is there one for other leagues? i'm sure people don't just follow the EPL. or i might go and do it.
edward1849
^^ Yeah you can create threads for other leagues. But I think most people here is interested in EPL, and the Champions League.

OH WHAT THE. [inserts mean word]!
Manchester United, you guys can't do anything with the possession. What the heck were Nani and Tevez doing?! Seriously! But they had such poor form and should have been sacked!
On a brighter note, Hargreaves was magnificent. Campbell made a huge difference. Man, Ronaldo would have love this game. There were so much open space. MAN.
The game was such a shock though. =/ Man U played soooo poorly!

But, the season isn't over yet. I still have hope for my team.

^

sad but true. i still cant see what so special about nani and tevez for the past few games. 2 more game without ronaldo. gosh.. cant even imagine when they meet up with sunderland ..

on the other side (abit off topic)

the junior team won the champion youth cup final againts juv . congratz to the younglings ^^v

Liverpool and Chelsea just got done playing. 1-1. I gotta say though the reffereeing (sp?) for this game was a bit unusual especially with that Penalty Kick given to Chelsea although i am a chelsea fan xD
My Sweet September
I didn't think man utd played poor at all. A lot of aspects about todays matches and the one agaisnt Reading and Pompey are really...just unfortunate. None of those teams came close to out-classing Man Utd. The lads haven't played poorly, not at all. Our movement up and down the pitch is fluid and it's a beautiful thing to watch. It's very, very unfortunate that they have nto been able to convert all that possession into goals, but we are a bit unlucky with injuries....with Tevez being our only available striker, and him being a player who works better behind someone....this 4-3-3 with tevez leading to front isn't helping things one bit.

Right not, Man Utd are a bit Arsenal-esque. It's great football to watch, but it doesn't produce results. As the season rolls along and the team gels together, it's going to be amazing. The season is hardly over, and anyone who writes Man Utd off after 3 games is foolish!

Things will be better one Rooney and Ronaldo come back, but to be honest, right now....I am missing Neville and Saha the most!
safety_bread
I miss Park. /random

Man U has always had difficulty with winning against Reading, Pompey and Man City. I agree what you say My Sweet September, anyone who writes off after 3 games is foolish. [sigh] It's just that game proves that the new players are still getting used to working together and such. And with the last 3 games, they have it and they just don't finish it off. Rooney is usually there to finish off the game. Unfortunately, he's out for 2 months. Most of our main players out, [sigh]~~!

But, the game, Man City vs Man U, I heard that Hargreaves was injured or something like that? Reported on Sky? I knew he was injured but I wasn't really paying close attention to what the sportsman was saying.

But, watching the game for Chelsea vs Reading. They were pretty good. Even though, they don't play appealingly.

My Sweet September
It makes me sad to see Reading play now, last season I admired them, this season they play less attractively....

I heard thast Hargreaves might be injured, which worries me, because he was awesome today!

I agree. Except the Reading game at home, the other 2 were not totally a shock. The other big 3 teams also lost points today so it is not hurting as much. It is still too early in the season. With the quality of the players Man U have, they'll eventually find their grooves. Like I said before, I think their focus this year is more on the Champions League. Don't be surprised if they play much better in Eurpoean competitions this year.

BTW, who is this Campbell guy? I think it's his first match. I don't even hear his name in pre-season. unsure.gif
chinguz
^ i'm guessing his a guy who climbed up the ranks, he seems really young

I'm one of those who would write them off. We all know Man U will probably be in the top 5 somewhere. But i like seeing underdogs and under experienced teams give them a good challenge.

the arsenal game with rovers was sorta frustrating to watch. both teams had a few chances to score but yeahh. what a shame, arsenal should have won.

^Agreed!

Lehmann has made two blunders already that...
1. Nearly cost Arsenal all three points against Fulham
and
2. Has cost Arsenal all three points against Rovers...

Wenger's guna drop him if he carries on making amateur errors!

...RVP for top scorer this season!
roneddski

i think Wenger shld drop Lehmann and play Almunia instead. Lehmann was v lucky his blunder in the opening fixture did not cost any points.

Man Utd would b under real pressure cos they are playing on the coming Sunday instead of Saturday. Aston Villa, Birmingham, Derby or Bolton may take points on Saturday and leapfrog over Utd and the Red Devils can find themselves stucked in the bottom 3 comes Sunday.
Paticularly, Villa, which can take 3 points in a home fixture agt Fulham, who arent good travellers.

referee was blind .. there was what 9 yellow cards in that game? liverpool deserved the win. pissed me off watching that lame call, malouda put his arm on alonso and just did a awkward flip. referee was totally blind. liverpool was robbed.

torres' goal was top class
The Stone Temple Pilot
I can't understand why we're doing so badly. Man Utd should be playing much more free-flowing and attacking with a greater proficiency. I'm used to seeing us knife through defenses. Our defense just has to get settled. Now that Heinze left to Madrid (bloody traitor) we need to strengthen our flanks but apart from that our midfielders are arguably the best group of such a kind in the world. Our attack is missing its best piece but, we have Tevez and that counts for something right?

Ehh, I don't think so. Liverpool has a talented squad and have started the season well, but as for Liverpool winning the EPL? Nah, don't see it. Once Champions League qualifying rounds start, well, we know what will happen. Just saying mellow.gif

I'd say Chelsea as a bigger shot atr winning the EPl compared to Liverpool.

Chelski have internal problems, ex. sheva, ballack, mourinho. drogba, lampard, and caravalho are injured. they rely on lampard to much and dont have a reliable backbone to the team, it seems essien is the only one holding them together. perfect example is Villans vs Chelski game. Villans won 2-0, Chelski's midfield was lacking. i just dont see chelski winning the EPL this year and they are much weaker than previous seasons, even with there money.

ManU will be in the top 4. only if tevez learns how to play with ManU's style. but i dont see ManU winning the EPL this year also. Hargreaves is also injured, Carrick still has to grow.

but now Liverpool has more depth in midfield and upfront, they still need a better defense but for right now its good enough in my opinion. midfield has gerrard, benayoun, voronin, sissoko, mascherano, alonso, pennant, babel. and for the front its, torres, kuyt, crouch. it just creates havok to any team. they can hold there own ground and be independent. Liverpool should've won against Chelsea a month ago, Malouda's show blinded the ref and lampard converted. this game shows you how much Liverpool has grown and can challenge any team.

Gerrard will help Liverpool win the EPL, hopefully the CL as well.

Gerrard, hands down, the best midfielder in football today. the only one right next to him is Kaka. Gerrard helped England win against Israel despite having a broken toe, his chemistry with Barry was way better than Lampard. IMHO Lampard sucks balls and is overrated, he can only do somethings for Chelski, he scored more penalties than goals last season. Gerrard is the whole package for a midfielder, both offense and defense, C. Ronaldo only has game offensively, Essien still has potential and is still learning, Kaka is the only one that is right up there with Gerrard. Seedorf is good as well but his style of play is like Giggs its more of a mind game rather than playing.

AHHHH ! Yes yes , Gerrard's <33

He's darn good ! I mean , even with a broken toe ... he still went onto the field ! smile.gif Well , I wouldn't hide but I was very much upset when John Terry was announced as captain . I suppose Gerrard's more inspirational ???? ( But yeah , I'm biased so ... )

Yes yes . Gerrard's possibly the best midfielder right now . I mean , no offence to Beckham fans but ... he's not very good now . Yup . And Gerrard's more creative in terms of the way he passes . smile.gif

I'm hoping Liverpool win the EPL & the Champions League . Man , we were so close to it last season . Pfttt , AC Milan beat us to it .
