i don't see too many topics of her around any forums so i thought i'd try here. for those of you who don't already know, she's a (now) 16 year-old korean girl who is supposed to debut her musical career here in the U.S. very soon under JYP entertainment and Lil Jon. does anyone else have any more info on her? one of her songs "go ahead" is out on youtube and it's pretty catchy, but not all too amazing. still, i think it's pretty good for someone who's not only that young, but doesn't even speak english as her first language.

Korean, American Musicians Promote 15-Year-Old Korean Newcomer's Debut in U.S. Music Scene
JYP Entertainment Group recently announced that Park Jin-young, the head of JYP USA, and the American famous hip-hop producer Lil Jon, discovered a Korean teenage newcomer to produce and market a record in the United States.
The Korean teenager ‘Min’, whose full name is Lee Min-young and was born in Korea, boldly dedicated herself to breaking through the U.S. music market.
When Min was a teenager in 2001, JYP heard about her musical and dancing talents, she was selected by the company for two years of training. She won an award in a December 2003 competition shown on a Korean television station with Korean singer ‘Rain’ and shared the stage with him, which gave her the opportunity to showcase her talents.
After her success in Korea, Min went to Los Angeles and New York for two years of voice, dance, language and other kinds of training and participated in a televised ‘dance battle.’ She is currently in New York, working with Park to record and produce her debut single which she plans in the first half of next year.
A JYP official said, “Major record studios and producers decide to collaborate. They decided that Lil Jon’s style is compatible with Min’s in terms of goals and style. That’s why they decided to work together.”
“Korean singers have lately been looking at the U.S. market as a challenge to boost their musical careers for those who haven’t made their debuts in Korea as teenagers and view that as an opportunity to break into the American music market,” the official added.
Park said, “For the past three years, I was the first Asian composer to participate in the production of such albums of major American pop start such as Mase, Will Smith and Cassie. Therefore, I believe that I am increasingly establishing my credibility as a music producer.” He added, “Based on that foundation, I am confident that Min and other JYP singers’ entry into the U.S. market would be much more solid.”
On Dec. 23, Min, Park and Lil Jon will be giving a press conference and attend ‘Rain’s’ concert later that evening.
In 2004, Park and Lil Jon became close through their work with the hip-hop duo Outkast. After Lil Jon saw a demonstration tape of Min, he suggested to Park that the two collaborate together on producing a single.

Yeah. The song is pretty catchy but i don't know.. Its not really THAATT good, imo. Her voice sounds too young for this type of song. I hope she can make something better, soon.

o_o The song is kinda childish.....sounds like a song from the Disney Channel
o-o She has MAD dance moves though.
she's okay. but imo, the song seems really mature for a 16-year-old to sing. she's a great dancer, though.

no it doesnt...shes singing about a guy who wants to ask her out or somethin like that. thats not mature for a 16 year old at all. the song is pretty good.
lil jon makes hits and jyp is a good producer thats a good team..in my opinion. and i agree with mzz_booo about her workin on her high notes.

The song sounds like some boring song with an overused beat/rhythm. Something that would be put on High School Musical 3 Soundtrack or something. *cough*
Her voice is good, but the song is just plain wrong for her.

heard her song. it's ok but kind of repetitive and pop-ish. i hope she sings a more powerful song that mite show off her dancing skills 'cuz this song sounds pop-ish and light, so i doubt there's a lot of hardcore dancing.

The songs okay I guess, Its not good or bad. Its an okay song!
I can't wait to hear more from her. I would like to hear a ballad. =]
but I think she wants more upbeat songs since she IS a dancer.

I don't know if she's gonna succeed...her voice needs to be a little bit stronger...the beat covers up for her voice....the beat is catchy but once you actually start paying attention to the words and her voice it's like an "eh" type of feeling. Her dancing is pretty much bad azz though. But if Cassie can make two hits i know Min can do it too....She just needs a little more vocal training in my opinion. Maybe she'll grow on everybody "vocally" like Ciara did

Her songs are very Hip-hop.
It has a good beat. But no idea what she's singing.
She a friend of Hyoyeon? I think Hyoyeon dances better than her.

I think she has potential to make it in the U.S. but the song is like REALLY annoying.
They could of made her a great song to match her great dance skills and voice.

i agree with everything you said.
the girl can sing her butt off. but you can't beyonce all over a track just because you've got pipes. i think she did very well for this song and her vocals serve their purpose. it's supposed to sound all girly and singsongy because it's a cute song..if you listen to the lyrics instead of trying to find something wrong with her, you'd see that its an appropriate song for her age, it's a catchy song, and she'll probably get to #1 because she can actually dance and sing.
i'm pretty sure her
debut single will have a ballad that showcases her real vocal abilities. the Go Ahead song is perfectly fine as a party starter and i can SO see highschool girls singing this song the way they latched onto Lipgloss....
i can't wait to hear her album next month.

that's the thing for me too,
she just doesn't stand out at all when she's with other artists in her genre.
i think her english isn't as fluent yet for an official debut
is JYP just rushing her too much?

It's actually... pretty generic. XD Whether or not it will be successful is 50/50 because it's catchy and repetitive, which seems to be a formula for success in North America these days. But perhaps it lacks substance a little too much. It's not a bad song, but not one of my favs. But I like the light, easy-going melody meets hip hop theme!

i just watched her first live performance and i like the song abit more now even though i don't really like teasy songs. but i think she sings pretty well, she seems to have the potential to do well. her dancing is whacked! she's so cute dancing on stage. i hope she does well, i'll be rooting for her
