SEE THE PERFORMANCE HERE
iono if there is already a topic on this, but here goes:
Pros:
britney is performing again!
back up dancers were great!
britney is performing again!
Cons:
Britney needed better hair and wardrobe.
Britney needed to dance more.
the stripper thing was trashy.
song was kinda catchy... but still mediocre over all.
what do you guys think?

Sep 9 2007, 11:22 PM
Agree. Stripper thing was really trashy man =.=;;
And I also agree that she did needed to dance more.
But I don't blame her for not trying her best. After overhearing stupid Sarah Silverman make up that dumb joke about Brit's kids of course it's gonna get to her.
and i really don't care how her body is now, it's normal that's all i can say. But she could've picked out a much better wig x3

I watched a small clip with a bit of the rehearsal and it looked so much better than the real performance. Honestly, I was disappointed in her lack of energy, effort and just overall "I donīt truly care" attitude. It really shows lack of respect for her fanbase... I used to really like her and had hopes that her comeback would just shut up everyone. If she had done as well as in the rehearsals, we all would be congratulating her now ._.

I think that a lot of people are just saying bad things to bring her down. They need to realize thats its not 1999 anymore and that shes been through a lot, of course shes not going to be performing the same anymore. The most ridiculous thing in my opinion though is how people are calling her overweight. Shes had two kids, and yet they are so quick to make a judgement and call her overweight and trashy. I like the song, however I agree that it was lacking in energy. Hopefully, future perfomances will be better.

She's not overweight compared to normal society but if you're going to be on stage, in front of MILLIONS of viewers in nothing more than some sparkly underwear you better look damn toned, and toned she was not.
As far as the performance, it looked poorly executed and poorly rehearsed. She seems to lose track of the lyrics and her so called
dancing was lackluster at best. I like Britney and I'm not trying to "bring her down". I just thought she rushed back to try and promote her new album without being fully prepared. Even most the celebrities that were rooting for her pre-show felt like she was just going through the motions. It's pretty disappointing especially when you compare her to her ex Justin Timberlake who is always a money performer.
And what happened to the supposed Cris Angel collaboration. I thought he was supposed to incorporate some magic in her act. Only thing that seemed to disappear was her credibility as a top echelon performer.

it wasn't as bad as the news reports made it out to be. and there was to much hype to start off with and expectations were probably a tad to high.
nevertheless the performance did suck.
just watching the video and picturing no dancers there she would look totally lost.
the fact is she's not ready to make any sort of return.

there are so many anti-fans for her now it's not even funny. i must admit too though, i can't blame them for finding it hard to respect her as a "professional entertainer" at all anymore. not only is her lifestyle questionable right after having KIDS, but she isn't even a real singer.
i can't remember any performance in recent years where she did not lip-synch, and that has a lot to do with both the fact that she can't sing, and that post-production processes are enhancing her voice. even a few other artists have referred to britney spears as an "entertainer" and not a singer, and what she did last night was NOT entertaining. walking around in skimpy clothing when you're body looks like that is just plain mindless. the only thing she could have done is dance well, and she didn't even do that. there was no real choreography for her to perform, and the movements she did have were done with no energy. it's understandable that she just had kids, but then why attempt a comeback so fast then?

I can't feel sorry for her. It was sad and I mean really sad.
She just wasn't ready.

Sep 10 2007, 08:43 AM
I found it boring and overhyped.
She wasn't even singing.
I don't like her as a singer, but she's good as a performer.
I feel like she didn't perform up to her usual par.

Sep 10 2007, 10:33 AM
Quite frankly, even though I love Britney to death, that performance was disappointing. Are we being too hard on her? Maybe, but I don't think it's outrageous to expect some semblance of professionalism from a performance that you yourself have billed as being your big comeback. Parading around in crappy hair extensions and sparkling underwear while lipsynching (badly) while forgetting your dance moves just doesn't cut it when you used to be considered the best or the greatest.

It was terrible T__T
I feel sad cuz I used to like her a lot! a LOT! she was a great performer!!
but now....omg I even think I could have done better!!
I'm so disappointed T_T
she looked so uncomfortable onstage..
I feel bad for her
ivuson
Sep 10 2007, 11:00 AM
Yeah looked like someone was just pulled from the stage to perform last minute. You would think someone worth millions could afford better extensions than those raggedy ones hanging from her head where you could the roots. And why is she wearing blue contacts? I don't get anything about that performance. Utter disaster.

Well if she has the nerve to think she can pull of an outfit like that, of course people will see her as an overweight fatty.
Look at every other hollywood actress/singer that went through pregnancy. It shows she's uncommited to her job. Say what you want, but it's her job to keep in shape and look at her prime, especially if she's going to dress like that.

What happened to the Criss Angel thing? he quit right before the show?
kayem7289
Sep 10 2007, 12:35 PM
^ MTV cancelled it at the last minute fearing it would cause too much controversy, and maybe that's why she walked around so much since those parts were probably supposed to involve Criss Angel making her "disappear," but yet when she actually "danced," she looked okay.
Does no one remember when she stripped at the VMAs 7 years ago as well?
Yet no one really complained about because she was still hot, but now if she stripped...She'd be called a skank.
Oh well, let's just hope she actually does improve so that her career doesn't die right now at the age of just 25.

i thought it was both funny (in the sense that it seemed like an SNL skit of "what britney will look like in ten years' time when she really lets herself go") and sad (in the sense that it wasn't an SNL skit, it was real).
i'm sorry, but it was the performance of a washed-up has-been. do you remember the time during the VMAs (or whatever awards it was) when britney made everyone gasp by looking really hot in a flesh-colored sparkly bodysuit / performing (well, making out) with madonna / dancing with a really big python? she upped the ante with those performances, so i guess it's natural that everyone is disappointed with this one. but i guess whatever else you can say, britney sure knows how to keep the attention on her... even if it's not good attention. so if ever she's ready to really make a comeback, you can bet we'll all be waiting.

Oh, she is far from being afraid, ever since she started showing her nether regions and stripping down at a beach.
Although I was bewildered at how she has been acting as the few years went by, I really wanted Britney to come back. It's like all my resentment and loss for her was so great, it reverted to pity and curious hope. But that performance left me with: What the heck was that?
Yes, she is not "fat." She has the slight "chub" where a mother of two should be proud with that kind of body, but not in that outfit. Trying to be sexy just backfired, now that she has been labeled a rainbow since 2003. I know there was no possibility she will not lip-synch, but she didn't even try to conceal it...might as well don't move your mouth at all. Her dance moves were below mediocre and watched with an eyebrow quirked as to why she was just walking around, trying to suck her belly in and her dancers were doing all the work? Seriously, I could've danced better. Yes, she had a lot to deal with, but that just means she
wasn't ready and it
showed. She seriously needed to lie low, training her ass off and really comeback with a punch. I always liked Britney for doing exciting and outstanding performances, as well as doing things that was extraordinary (like the python). Even Common and Nicole (from Pussycat Dolls) expressed disappointment. I was expecting a blast off but it was a complete dud, dangerous to her career now that it's hanging by a thread. The thread isn't snipped, but if her next performance is as horrible, good bye Britney, may your life and career rest in peace.
The only nice things I can say is that the make up actually made Britney beautiful and seems like she got a bigger chest. Love the song, it's very Britney, all sensual and such. Oh and that comedian that came after needed to crawl up Hitler's bubble gum and die.

Love the song but hate the performance.
One thing clear is that she's not the same as before. I wasn't expecting a amazing performance like those she used to do, but it was really bad!! I'm sooo disappointed!!
First she needs to work out her body to a better one.
Second she should really dance more.
Third, she needs to find something better to wear.

Afreakingmen. The whole point of a "comeback" is to get people to WANT to buy your cd and WANT to watch you perform. You would think that lip singing would lead one to put more effort into dancing. The poor girl just looked confused and like she didn't care at all.
I was embarrassed for her. It was tragic.

i was actually looking forward to see her 'comeback' even tho i'm not a fan, but i respect her cause she's a good entertainer. yeah alot of things have been happening to her for the past what.... 2-3 years??? and you'd expect a change in her, but would it change her love for singing/ dancing/ music????
wishes she wore something that would compliment her body cause the bra and panties was not working.
i think the best part about her performances was the make up...

Agree :\ As much as I'd hate to admit, I mean, I was a Britney fan before and I'll still support her if she's doing the right thing.. instead of always partying, exposing herself, and doing all this reckless stuff... -sigh- Other mothers, who's had more kids than her are in top shape and ready to be filmed or whatever within weeks of giving birth. Britney let herself go during these past few years. Yeah, she did go through a lot of stuff but she's THE Britney Spears. The Entertainer who's sold over 50 million records, she has a name to live up to and it's hers. I cringed while I was watching the performance on Sunday. I was rooting for her. Last minute cancellations with Criss Angel is understandable but.. Eh...
Hopefully, she'll do better in future performances.

and pretty please DON"T KILL ME
BUT!
I thought that performanced sucked
and was completely Wh0rish
She could've:
1. chosen a better ourfit
2. Not look like she was having sex on stage with her dancers
3. Tried sync her words better
4. chosen a beter wig
5. Better song
I mean if she really wants to get back in the music industry

Waiiit people. You don't know the whole story yet. What I heard was that she had rehearsed a totally different performance, but right before the show the VMA people wouldn't let her perform her original dance. They said it was too dirty, which isn't really surprising. So thats why she seemed out of it. I think she was too focused on trying to remember what was next, that she totally forgot to actually "perform" the song. I also heard that she was crying backstage after her performance. I feel sorry for her. I believe that I heard this from a reliable source, but don't kill me if I happen to be wrong

Her comeback was the big hype for the VMAs, everyone was talking about it saying that it was "good" and then when she performed it was nowhere near good. I was excited when I saw her onstage but so disappointed afterwards. There are so many articles about what happen before and after the performance, that I don't know what to say anymore. I read Perez Hilton and those other celeb blogs and the things that are reported really changes my mind alot on Britney. I do know that i feel sorry for her and hopes that she comes back to her normal self before her album drops in November.
