The "crunk-pop" artist J-Min in Korea, popular for the song, 손뼉을 쳐 featuring Kjun, is a different person than the J-Min with SM.
Here's a link to the MV of 손뼉을 쳐.
The J-Min with SM is only signed to SM Japan and AVEX.

Wow, it's supposed to be released September 12th, but I haven't seen it anywhere? tongue.gif

She reminds of a YUI or something.
BabyK
Her album picture reminds me of a Mini BoA x3

It's cool that SM started her off in the Japanese music market^^

Daaaang! She kinda looks like BoA in the Dream On PV o_o She could play as a body double LOL

But her english is too (:

She really loves guitar x3
diana©
Hmmm... BoA meets Michelle Branch! Cool 8D

Anyway, how come I haven't heard of her until now? And isn't SM promoting her like crazy? o_o Strange...
amydien
This is the first time I've heard of her too.
Appearance-wise she reminds me of Yui with her guitar....vocally, she reminds me of Michelle Branch.
sweetsmile
Yea she reminds me of Yui too.

Was it really released on the 12th? How come I never heard of her?? Maybe it didn't do to well on the charts?

Maybe it didn't do to well on the charts?

Maybe the Japanese thought she's trying to be another YUI or something ><

Don't hit me O_O Just guessing ^^;
butterflyeffect
i've heard of her, but i've never actually seen her or heard her music.
i'll check it out when i go back to use my computer with functioning speakers. haha
Lindoodoo
Oh~ She looks like BoA. But reminds me of Michelle Branch.
I think i'm gonna go check out her music.
V-ni@star
SM has so many great talent on their artist...
gud luck for her
ritzy!
yeah i thought of michelle branch and then it was weird to see it on her favorite artist list thing, lol.
cool, new sm person debut, hope it's good music
<3goesDOKIDOKI
shes only 88?
in the first picture she looks so old, bad picture.

how are her songs?
j00n
She looks like a Korean version of Kelly Clarkson...
t. yama
I really like her style. She looks like a simple girl too.
Wow, her mini album was released? Hmm, haven't heard of her.
Can't wait to see more from her though.
chiyo

I haven't read anything about her not entering the Korean market, but she is Korean and they are calling her a global star... So, I'm sure she will debut in Korea too.
addickshun
is she boa the second?
looks so much like boa when she had straight hair.
didn't know about her til' now..
been too busy knowing min from jyp and doni from yg.
BendyStraw
On Z-degrees, they posted a digital single by an artist named J-Min and claimed she was under SM... After doing a little research, I'm not quite sure they are the same person and that the J-Min who sings, 손뼉을 쳐, is not the same one signed with SM and Avex. More information on 1st post,
--hearts.
There would have been more news if she were with SM...and a heck of a lot more promoting. So it is really unlikely that she is with them.
ikesung
i feel this kind of music rejected by my ear.
but good luck to her... biggrin.gif
panda_07_ice
she's good!!!
^.^!!!!
teukstrid
I really like her song Dream On? Is there a mp3 for it?
gouka_odoriko
it's good they debut her in japan...well maybe is she fail...she'll be in korea soon...I guess...hope not she's talented with instruments...
kuroxkitsuneX3
Well if J-Min is in Japan, her activities would be promoted by Avex right? I don't know their voices do sound similar, maybe they are the same person...
xiam9
I'm an SM Entertainment junkie, how come I've never heard of her?
She's good though.
SHe does sound like Boa, but somehow even though I'm not a huge fanof Boa's vocals I kinda like how her voice sounds.
Very pleasant and nt annoying.
Kennedy
Huh. I agree on the fact that SM would make a huge deal.
But this is a first. She's not a dancer. o_O

She sounds okay. I guess I'll listen to her.
JJ.exot5ia
no way... she's not from SM
they would do TONSSSS and i mean
T O N S of promoting...

-Rebecca
xiaochingu.
well, i just listened to her single from z-degrees..
and i guess i was expecting too much...
maybe because i havent listened to anything else from her
from her new single doesnt really display her vocals well
sure its pretty catchy music...i think suitable for a club?
but...yea...i wish it would show off her vocals more

ill keep an eye out for more stuff her..

edit
here's what z-degrees said about her debut korean single

SM Town Japan's new rising star. Born on May 27, 1988, J-Min is co-signed with Avex Trax Japan and has already released a Japanese single in September. "손뼉을 쳐" is her Korean debut single.

Although J-Min's music is still relatively "pop", it's surprising to hear such an urban sound coming from SM Town. If I hadn't known better, I would of thought she was from YG or JYP.

actually...since this is the other music section
am i allowed to post it here ? O_O
Yinggg
i think if she really sign with sm they would make a big deal about it.
sm makes a huge deal of it like the trax, dbsk, super junior an d girls generation.
the trax are famous cuz boa
dbsk are famous cuz of the trax and boa
super junior are famous cuz of dbsk
and girls generation cuz they are the female of super junior.

i like her voice! from her japanese songs! i think the korean single is al little down than the japanese single!
desertseatingoceans
Considering that SM is like a marketing machine, they would really promote her and get her name out there. I haven't heard of her until I came to this thread. Are you sure you're not getting your information mixed up? Avex Trax has artists like Boa and other SM stars, maybe that's why you're associating her with the company? SM pride themselves on having some of the best artists in the Asian market, also considering she speaks English, Japanese and Korean would be a huge bonus for them. Anyway, she reminds me so much of Michelle Branch. I like the song though.
Devine.Integrity
Is this really the same j-Min?

Anyways I uploaded the PV on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-gXSum0pPI
BendyStraw
No, the Korean artist J-Min is not the same J-Min from SM Japan.
addickshun
she released a new single, didn't she?
AlwayzBigBang
I like her first track "손뼉을 쳐" It has a nice beat....
Anywayz,
If anybody wants her single just request for it here
If a lot of people want it then I'll decide whether to upload it or not^^
crackednut
ooo I really like ころがる林檎!!
Its got a really different feel from other SM songs...its got more unique flavor and personality
aiongaku
For a moment I thought of YG's Min. XD
Her voice is really strong. She also has that natural look that I like. biggrin.gif
At some angles I thought of Ai Otsuka.
UmaloveChangmin
She looks a lot like BoA in her album picture. I've never heard of her... I would think SM would do a lot of promoting..
xxctxx
Her songs are quite good!
thanks for sharing!

biggrin.gif
xXVenusxX
I've heard her before...
But NEVER heard of her songs...
But NOW Im listening...
SHE's good =))
looking forward more on her~
amydien
Maybe SM is doing an experiment or something. Like if they could make their artists successful and popular without openly attaching the name "SM Entertainment" to it. smile.gif

I think she's a great singer. Her music is quite different from other SM artists. It's refreshing to listen to.
JTH
thats a nice guitar shes holding..

ahhh gibson.. me want!
BendyStraw
On January 15, SM/Avex will release J-Min's next mini-album! It contains her debut song, Dream On, which was only released as a PV back in Spring '07. I guess they're going for mini-albums instead of singles, more for your buck! Here is the tracklist:

정유미
omg we have the exact same bday! lolz. ANYWAY. she sounds promising, but i've never heard of her before. are you sure she's with sm? because if she is, she would be all over the place what with all the promotions and stuff. biggrin.gif

I'm starting to think the J-Min who sings, 손뼉을 쳐, is a different person with the same name... Here's a link to the MV of 손뼉을 쳐. Same person? I think not... different face and sound. This girl looks like Hyori at some points of the MV. No confirmation, but after searching diligently through yahoo Korea, I found no signs of this girl being linked to SM. However, the j-pop artist, J-Min, is linked to SM through SM Japan and AVEX. I did come across this blog... Unfortunately, I can't read Korean... anyone feel free to translate? Anything I did find is word-for-word copied from the Z-degrees website.

the blog doesn't say anything about it o.o
BendyStraw
Okay, for sure the crunk-pop J-Min which debuted in Korea is not the J-Min under SM. The J-Min under SM is only signed to SM Japan and AVEX. I cannot stress this enough, z-degrees info is incorrect.

Regarding her promotion, SM either promotes their artists like crazy, i.e: BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, and Girls' Generation... Or they don't promote them at all, i.e: Black Beat (they didn't even get a 2nd album), Isak N Jiyeon (nobody knew they debuted until they appeared on the '02 Winter album), TRAX (they disappeared after their first album in '06), and TSZX (they may have got some promotion in '07, but they debuted back in '05 and received barely anything for 2 years). And this is also SM Japan who is focusing all their money, marketing, and everything else with TOHOSHINKI... BoA basically promotes herself but the TRAX and TENJOCHIKI aren't gettin' nuthin'.
Antz
WHOA. true. boa meets michelle branch, that's awesome.
i want to hear her stuff.
i've heard of her before, but i haven't had the chance to listen to her songs.
interesting, i'll keep an eye out for her~
miki_chan
im interested.
i hope she becomes successful :]
and she does look promising smile.gif
YLRabbit26
she does remind me of YUI w/ the guitar..
BendyStraw
J-Min's back!!!

Her new single came out today and its titled CHANGE / ONE and both songs are used as the opening and ending themes for the anime, Hanasakeru Bishouen. Here's the PV for CHANGE and a clip of ONE. And last year, she also released a remake album of japanese folk rock songs... here's a sample of the title track, 傘がない (this is not the PV). ENJOY! ^^

Earlier this year, she was touring as the opening act for Do As Infinity and she performed an English cover of their song on Music Tree, Yesterday&Today.
