I love Kpop, but I never really listened to much Chinese music. However, I'm now in college and I'm learning Chinese(mandarin), and I wanted to see if there were some good Chinese artists that I was missing out on. I like listening and seeing what I can understand. And plus, extra exposure to the language may help with my pronunciation.
Currently, the only Chinese artists that I listen to are Coco Lee and eVonne Hsu. To give an example of the music that I like, some of my favorite artists are:
SES
Finkl
Baby Vox
Utada Hikaru
Are there any good Chinese singers that have music similar to theirs? Haha, I've been searching on my own for a while but I've yet to come across anything that has really stood out.

:: Jay Chou (definitely, but with my limited Chinese, I find it hard to really understand what he sings

maybe because his lyrics are too poetic? and he mumbles XD but he made killer songs)
:: Wang Lee Hom (he made lovely lovely ballads)
:: David Tao

if you want to learn mandarin i suggest you listen to leehom wang. when he sings he tends to articulate his words so you can understand what he is saying... besides his songs are nice....

i suggest listening to Wang Lee Hom, you would most likely be able to relate to him as he too started learning mandarin in college. he didn't read or write (not so sure about speaking) until he was 18 years old, since he was born and raised in the United States.
His lyrics and melody are really good and sometimes poetic. oh, and he plays most of the instruments in his albums. His english songs are pretty good too.
besides that, maybe JJ Lin. he isn't that bad too. Tanya Chua and Stefanie Sun are also quite good.
