im sure this just a start.

she cant promote that well yet since the physical album is not out yet.

i agree dcrux that this is just an introduction, showing what she is capable of.

as for the sales, we are only talking about digital sales only available on countries with itunes. another thing not all fans can access on the internet, some may even not know how to access. so they are waiting for the physical album.

hope she can stay for few weeks or better till the physical album is finally out

Charice's twitter said:

Hi Guys. Watch me this monday @ TODAY'S SHOW. am goin to promote "NOTE TO GOD".. smile.gif love lots guys.

That's good. Something to watch out for...
She should really do that - promote on TV shows to retain her spot on the charts or better yet, for her song to climb higher.

Which reminds me. Too bad the 'Note to God' youtube video was deleted. I was waiting for it to reach 1M. Last I checked, it was 500K+ already. sigh

I'm amazed at how much love Charice got from that Italy show. They had her on three times, singing multiple songs each guesting. That was huge exposure because that show gets high ratings kind of like American Idol.

Too bad the Today show guesting might not happen this Monday according to Charice's twitter but I hope it just got postponed. Hoda Kotb randomly mentioned Charice after watching her Note To God performance on Oprah and Kathie Lee Gifford knew who she was and said that she was amazing...that's probably why Charice got invited to the Today show because the hosts were talking about her. Her name is really starting to get out there which is great!

I don't think Warner is pushing for this single because it's not radio friendly. I'm not even expecting the song to stay on the BB charts next week because all she's had is one performance in the U.S. and that's it. Like I mentioned earlier, I think this is just an introduction to the public, with the aim of creating some awareness before Charice drops her album in a couple of months. The heavier promotion will come then.

WOAH! That is amazing! biggrin.gif

For her song to be lined up among those big hits and stars~ Kyaaaaaaaa~~

I guess this is another album which would be included on my list-of-things-to-buy-online~ laugh.gif

I made a post of her debuting at #44 on the Billboards Chart in the photo section HERE.

The two hosts on the Today Show mentioned of a so-called "Oprah Effect".. while there is no denying the sheer influence Ms. O has on viewers, Charice does have the talent that even without Ms. O, she is sure to capture everyone's attention (as attested in her guestings in Star King, Ellen de Generes Show, and Paul O'Grady Show - all of which were prior to Oprah). Oprah just made her climb to stardom a bit faster.

But all these what-if's are inconsequential now... Charice now had Ms. O and Mr. DF backing her up. So it won't be long before she gets the achievements worthy of her (I see Grammy~ cool.gif )

For one thing, it is amazing for a song (from a relatively unknown/new singer) to break into the Billboard Charts (Top 50!) without that much airplay or promotion.

Well, despite their efforts to scrutinize every bit of her:
+ In the Philippines she's criticized because she sings high notes too often, argh
+ Critcized becuase she apaprently doesn't look pretty enough

The thing I hate most is that Charice apparently flaunting big name people every time she get's interviewed. What do you expect, it's an interview, she's still humble, I mean she still lives in Philippines - refuses to move to America where there's greater opportunities.

I mean if somebody questioned your credentials as a singer, why wouldn't you say you sang with Celine Dion, work with David Foster, Diane Warren, will.i.am, etc.

Charice still manages to defeat those barking wolves and squeaking bats.

aimee, yeah that's an event after italy. the may 30th broadcast in italy was taped.

about her outfit, i think she posted something on her twitter account that she wants that as her "note to god" costume biggrin.gif

Hope she can still get back up to at least #44 on the Hot 100 while there's still time...

What she needs right now are radio airplay as well as more TV guestings. Without that she might fall back in the charts.

Re: Fingerprint full studio version leakage

Lol. It's all over youtube once again. Goes to show how much a buzzer Charice is.
Been playing the song several times in a day already.
The good thing about the song is that the music and lyrics suits her age. And I think this is one
of the songs that David Foster aims her to be on the pop/fast RnB genre for her album. I've heard
somewhere that he wants her to be an artist who's a cross between Celine and Britney.
At first I thought it's a long shot but hearing this, it could be a success. Am crossing my fingers.
Her voice is really versatile.
She can do an upbeat song as well and hooks you up.

I just saw Charice on TV Patrol (via YouTube) and learned that she's suppose to be guesting in Michael Jackson's world tour. They are suppose to be singing Billie Jean. SAYAAAANG!!!!
meilotus90
Filipino TV host Karen Davila interviewed Filipino international singer Charice earlier today (June 26, 2009 Philippine time) and the teen singer said that she was shocked and saddened to learn about Michael Jackson's death upon waking up.

She revealed that she was supposed to have a dance showdown with the late King of Pop Michael Jackson on his upcoming series of concerts/world tour which will start this July, thus, while busy preparing for her first solo concert, she is also rehearsing her Jackson dance moves.

The supposed song and dance showdown was put under wraps and is supposedly a surprise to fans, but with the death of the King of Pop, Charice's showdown with the pop icon will remain a dream.

She never met the pop icon, but Charice stated that just to be asked to be part of Jackson's concert is an honor itself and believes the pop icon is truly a kind person for considering a newbie like her to perform with him, a legend.

Charice candidly stated that she was approached by Michael Jackson's lawyer during a private party of Warner Bros. and talked about Jackson wanting her to be his special guest on his world tour. She further revealed that the late pop icon first saw her in The Oprah Winfrey Show but when he saw a video of her dancing to the tune of Billie Jean, the pop icon said: "I want this kid."

Here's the video that supposedly captured Michael Jackson's attention:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1SE2PZVg8

Charice is very thankful for Jackson's interest and she will sing a song in memory of the pop icon on her first solo concert entitled "Charice: The Journey Begins" to be held at at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City at eight tomorrow (June 27, 2009) evening.

On an earlier interview, Charice stated that she will be returning to the US a couple of days after the concert to continue recording... and with this latest revelation, maybe planned to rehearse for the late Jackson's concert.

The partial interview was revealed on TV Patrol World aired earlier this evening (June 26) but the full interview will be shown on Wonder Mom tomorrow morning.

On another note, Filipinos also are in mourning for the King of Pop's death. He had his concert in the Philippines back in 1996 and was totally loved by fans. Jackson even visited a Paranaque hospital to check on the newly-born babies. The babies will now be in their teens.

Aww..just read about Charice's supposedly surprise performance in Michael Jackson's comeback tour.
It would have been another achievement for Charice to be able to perform
alongside the legendary King of Pop. Too many what if's going on in my mind right now of
how the perf would've been like when they both dance the Billie Jean.
Michael Jackson and Charice on one stage? That would've been interesting and cool!
One was able to break a race barrier and the other is just starting to break boundaries to live her dream
(afterall, Asians have been having difficulty breaking into the American market).

On a side note, MJ is truly a music icon. It was stated in an article that
he was able to unite black and white music and shattered the race barrier in MTV.
Wow, he has indeed contributed a lot in the music industry!
May he find his peace.
LazyAzian
Awww, oh no!

Hmm . . .

Charice should really consider getting American choreographers to choreograph dances and teach iy to Filipino dancers (o.e) . .

Charice is a better dancer than the dancers themselves!

BILLY JEAN BY CHARICE >>> Back up dancers, everything.

But I'm hoping in the future we will see more dancing from Charice, she can be the first all around Filipino singing AND dancing pop star.

Isn't J.T & Will.i.am producing dance songs for her?

I don't know, it's just that Philippines is really lacking in the dancing/choreography department, and Charice has the potential to step up the standards and do hardcore singing and dancing.

If Utada can reach #66 in Billboard, how can Charice not or even surpass higher?

Charice has a great voice, can hit the highest of notes, dancer, have a high stamina.

Not to mention that she the best people backing her up.

It all comes down to proper promotion and song selection.

The best of singers can fail if they have a terrible staff.

Beyonce compare to Whitney or Celine is absolutely nothing. Charice will and is better than Beyonce any day.
Like what Lazy Asian said, Charice has the backing of people who knows how to handle the business well.
dcrux
Umm why was Utada's name brought up in this conversation? blink.gif superlove didn't even mention her name. Charice may have the right backing but that doesn't guarantee anything. What's with the comparisons with other artists anyway? Please stop because the comparisons will only hurt, not help Charice in any way. You may think Charice is better than Beyonce but no one can deny that Beyonce is one of the top artists in the world today and she has already proven herself. Let's just hope that Charice can reach 1/4 of what Beyonce has achieved. Man, why can't some Chasters be a little more humble? sleep.gif

R.I.P. Michael Jackson. sad.gif
It's such a pity we won't get to see Charice and Michael Jackson perform together as planned but wow, what an honor for Charice to be acknowledged by the King of Pop himself. ohmy.gif That's probably the ultimate compliment for almost any artist!
LazyAzian
I used Utada as an example because it showcases if an Asian artists can reach high, why can't other Asian artists do the same or reach higher?

Utada's been the most successful so far, but I am pretty bummed her US promotion is a complete halt for another Japanese single *sigh* (==" ) ~

I'm hoping with Charice she can reach higher since it seems she will focus a lot in her American career, and in America you really need to stay in the country for a long time to guarantee success, not just go island hopping like Utada or BoA.

I get pretty bummed when BoA/Utada is like "back in Japan' and I go with a "Wtf" look because you can't just do that with America, people forget you faster than any place in a world if your face doesn't' show up in media for more than a week.

With Charice I'm hoping it will be different, that she will focus on America and not balance two completely different music industries at once.

In America, promotion will probably get you further than the actual quality of your songs, trust me, just turn on the mainstream radio stations and count how many meaningless/just plain terrible songs come up in the stereo end up being popular.
dcrux
I didn't really want to talk about Utada here but yes, she reached #69 but her sales were like 6,915 units. That's not exactly stellar, is it?
LazyAzian

It's still an achievement to be ranked that high for an Asian artists, I mean Utada is like the first Japanese in god knows how many years to reach that high in America.

You guys seem to have pretty high expectation for the Asian artists, and pretty impressive achievements like this is just brushed off.

I'm not keeping a high expectation for Charice, but I'm saying she has a lot of potential to go even further, I mean why not?

If Charice even just cracks Top 100 I'd be happy, I don't think a Filipino artist ever got that far.
dcrux
Before you get the wrong idea, I'm happy for Utada but I'm just being real here. 6,915 is a low number especially if you consider all the radio play she's been getting. Anyway, rankings don't really matter when you get to the bottom of it. It's the sales number that counts and I personally don't have extremely high expectations for the Asian artists debuting in America but I'm hoping the best for all of them. Actually, you're the one who seems to have too much expectations for Charice, the way I've seen you talk about her. wink.gif

My expectations for Charice is the highest out of all the Asian artists because I believe in her talent and potential, but I don't expect Charice to hit #1 or something, that's not being real, that's just expecting too much out of someone.
