Wow! I didn't know Charice was going to other countries too! I remember watching her compete on Little Big Star!

Things are really looking up for her. I hope she'll also work on her dancing so can do that both. Based on her Star King guesting, she knows a bit of popping (which was cute to see btw) and hiphop dancing so that would be nice if she does that too.

saw her performance in asap today and as always she is so good... she sang "and im telling you" (sorry dunno if that's the correct title) the one she sang in star king. she looked nervous or i guess overwhelmed when tony interviewed her.... good luck on her career .

Charice has got an amazing voice. And I think the fact that she was on Star King with Super Junior helped quite a bit, since before that hardly any of us on Soompi knew her. Because she was on Star King many of SuJu's fans were watching and got to see her amazing performance, myself included. I'm sure that video started to get passed around a lot through SuJu's fans showing their friends, etc.

I'm still amazed that Ellen and E! noticed the clip and aired a clip of Star King. (And I missed it. T-T) But I think her selling point, what's making her so popular and why she can "make it" and get featured is that she's got a really big voice for such a small/young person. People are astounded by that, I think.

I remember seeing Charice in the summer singing 'If I Should Stay' on Little Big Star. I was so surprised by how good her voice was. Then I see her on Star King, and she was even better! =D
I hope she rises high!

I really hope that if she goes under MCA Records, they concentrate in the Asia market first(over a billion potential fans). Asian recording artists historically have not done well in America. Not counting those who are mixed Asians, can anyone think of an album or single by an Asian singer penetrate the top 10/20/30 Billboard Music Charts? I can't think of one either. It seems in order to succeed as a recording artist here in US you either need to appear Black, White or Hispanic. I'm afraid if MCA does stick to the US market, she'll end up with mediocre success, ultimately be neglected and end up being stuck in contract with a company that doesn't know how to market her. So I'm hoping that MCA are smart enough to go after Asia first(that's if they sign her). Otherwise, she'd be better off signing with a Korean or Japanese Record company.

I actually agree with you. I think that her novelty factor is actually having a big voice for someone so young (and short...). Kinda like Charlotte Church, I guess. The thing is, she better not sing to the RnB sogs, but to all those diva-ish ones that needs immense lung power to impress. Like the ones Whitney, Mariah or Celine Dion belts out furing their heydays. I still stick to my choice that she better debut in Asia first rather than the US though.

^I've heard about that. Read it in someone's YT channel but when I checked her myspace (which I think a fan usually updates and not Charice herself), the only sched there is I think a concert/show. So I think for now, I'll think of it as a rumor. ^-^
But I do hope it's true esp the Korea part. It would be so cool if she meets SUJU again and sing w/ Kyu Hyun.

you should leave that comment on Charice's official page. i think it would be smarter to concentrate on the Asian market as well. Maybe try and test out the American market but if it doesn't respond, then she should concentrate on Asia.

I saw her in TFC this morning, she was singing the song Prayer , and really she has got vocal power. It was an early AM show and her pipes were working! More power to her.

I was like laughing the whole time I was watching it. Not in an insulting way of course coz I think she's just amazing. It's just that her movements... well, you know what I mean if you've seen the video. I wonder if she can stand watching herself singing during her younger days. If I see vids/pics of myself, I'd laugh by head off. LOL

Actually how she acts in that video is also normal in the Philippines. When kids are being trained to sing, its customary that they give a total performance, which of course has some choreography in it. Its also a way to gain more confidence and really have fun on stage. I think thats why some people think she looked arrogant in Star King, but really she just has alot of confidence and also because she was taught to perform that way.

I agree with what the other people said here about singers like Charice is common in the philippines. Filipinos are junkies for singing. lol I've been singing ever since I can remember.

Its great that she is getting all this attention. I hope she makes a good decision on which direction she will go. Personally I think she should start with Asia first, since she still is young and can continue to enhance herself.

I agree with you too. It seems like choreography even for ballads is a normal thing to do in the Philippines. It's all about having stage presence and involving the audience when singing. I actually find it boring when singers just stand and hold the mic when singing. And with Charice's performance, it looks so lively. Plus, with her duet performances, I like how she looks at her duet partner while singing...you can tell that they connect
