I strongly agree with you. I think it turns off her supporters who are non-Filipinos. Especially when I see boastful comments like Filipinos are the best at this and that. Or wildly exaggerating by down-playing her talent saying that her level of skill is very common in the Philippines. As a Filipino myself, I can't help but shake my head when I see those type of comments. It makes Filipinos look really bad. Filipinos often expect others to display humbleness, yet turn around and boast like our people are gods gift to peoples eardrums. I think all Asians are proud of her. Her success elevates the image of all Asians whether it be Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese etc. To people of the west(ie. The US), they can't even tell the difference. We're all lumped together. So people, enough with the bragging.

^Me too. That's why I hardly read comments anymore. It was fun reading like back in Oct and early Nov when it's just most of us fans of Korean Entertainment who knew about it and of course those who've read about her in blogs and stuff...

But then she was featured in local news. Comments of her vids (in her friend's accnt) aren't screened so it's apparent that you'd see posts like "I'm proud to be...." There's nothing wrong really about being proud that your own is making it big but there's a limit to it. It can get pretty tiriing reading the same thing over and over again. and then there are those that just won't stop comparing her to other artists . Those kind of posts whether they think is Charice better or not are the really annoying ones. Oh well...

But she does have non-Filipino fans.

I'm glad about the MTV Japan invite. Hope she DOESN'T meet News coz I'd be seriously jealous of her. LOL

^ Yeah, I agree, especially in this thread there are a lot of people saying 'Her talent is common here' and 'there are kids who sing better than her in the philippines'. I'm a filipino and I'm really embarassed when people say this. Yes, there are a lot of good singers here in the philippines but how many filipino singers can achieve what she has achieved? I can only count two: Regine Velasquez and Lea Salonga. There's nothing wrong with being proud of your ethnicity but it gives filipinos a bad image if you do it too much.

Charice was only 7 years old when she started to join amateur singing contests.
And from then, with more than 80 competitions she competed in (O_O that many?!?! wow..), this kid, who grew up in Laguna, had been
receiving many praises. All of that is because she listened to "the voice within".

translate it for me (in tagalog) so that when I sing, I would feel the emotion

[to charice] In other words, you lost in the competition and were chosen among the the non-winning contestants to be the wild card. You competed against Sam (Sam Concepcion) and then you lost again.

When she wasnt given the title of Grand Champion in little big star, she almost lost hope.

Boy: What made you decide to go on?

Charice: umm, first of all, my mom..

Boy: she was always there, wasnt she?

Charice: yes, she was always there for me. She always tells me that "It's okay, you can do it"

On youtube internet, a video clip of hers was faced-off with america's got talent Bianca Ryan.

Charice: Opo. And she was really imitating me, she said "You, here!" (referring to the pointing action)
She really wanted me to go there, and she said that whoever can bring me there will get a reward.

Charice: Umm, it was Miss Ellen herself who called me

Boy: Wow!! Ellen Degeneres called you? Personally?

Charice: Opo. First it was the head writer (of the Ellen show) who called me and interviewed me, and then after that she personally called me!

Boy: And then what did she say?

Charice: "Is this Charice?" She sounded really excited and I said "Yes, it's me!". And then she sorta panicked and said "OMG Im you're no. 1 fan!"

Charice: I really couldnt say anything!
