there really is no such thing as cheap cosplay >_< anything that looks decent would make a giant hole in your wallet. best way to keep costs low is to make it yourself. as for wigs there are a few well known cosplay wig stores in ebay. good quality and reasonable prices. but i still find the variety to be limited. probably the best if you have friends or relatives going back to hong kong to grab you a few. talk about nice cheap wigs x_x

Cosplay in general is a DIY thing, so if you actually pay for a ready made costume and just wear it without the idea of getting "in-role" or actually "costume-playing", then that's just modelling(wearing a costume for the sake of wearing one, like on halloween). Cosplaying is being passionate enough to bring a specific character to life, and portray the character as it is. Kinda like acting, especially when you're at conventions.

Most cosplayers work with their own outfits; even if they don't sew it themselves they'll start from buying raw materials and send it to a trusted tailor. Price of costume may vary, especially on the complexity and details of the costume. Wigs can be bought, while props are ideally hand-made. Try to get your costume together about 3 weeks to a month before the actual date so you may alter any changes or mistakes on the costume.

However if you really do not have the sources likewise, and still would like to cosplay, there are LOADS (like, a gabazillion) of shops online (ebay) selling costumes, but warning: Their materials aren't exactly the best, and their sizes will not actually fit you (so it'd just look like a really sloppy cosplay) unless you send it to a tailor and get it altered as fitting as possible. Pricewise with shipping and everything it might just end up to be even more expensive, so tailoring is reasonably more ideal, since you get to choose everything you'll be using.

yea I'm thinking of making my own. thats the plan... but you know, there are just some of those costumes that are way too hard for me to make but I really want them... do you get what i mean? thats y i was asking for some sites... plus ebay doesnt always have the best material. thanks for the advice tho. Dang, much respect to cosplayers and their costumes. Kinda amazes me how realistic some of them are. I wonder if anyone can pull a 'Gabranth' from FF12 cosplay? That'd be so awesome.

Well, there are the shops on Ebay that tailor the costume according to your stats, but they choose the materials anyway. Just go to Ebay and type "Cosplay" and you should be able to find a list of sellers there who offer services- You send them a couple of referrence pictures, they give you a quotation inclusive of shipping, then you decide if you want to go ahead. Payment will have to be made first before sewing starts, and it should take about 4 - 6 weeks altogether. My first Goth Loli dress was gotten through such means, and honestly I wasn't very happy with the end product, that's why I make my own costumes now =)

It's something close to the animated version, but you won't be able to get the EXACT same one- Basically it's just a normal Biker jacket you can get at any wholesale centre; Price varies. The arm patterns you'd most likely have to do-it-yourself. Either get a tailor to sew it on for you (quite hard to sew since the material's PVC/Leather), or you could get it hot pressed, ironed on, or even fabric painted, stenciled, taped- Use some creativity!!!

The people who cosplay things are really interested into it! They make themselves look sooo coooll !

Lately ,IN the new chaps of DGM, Kanda`s costume seems to be simpler than before (He doesn`t wear the uniform of Black order and his Innocence is being repaired by Hevlaska so he has to use a normal sword until his Mugen is finished)So I think I can cosplay him at this moment, so easy !><

mine is not as complicated as most of the ones posted here..... but since my natural hair is similar length to Tohsaka Rin, my friend suggested i cosplay as her. Yeah, she hd closed her site for almost [or more?] a year now, and so did her friend Mahiro [the Reno]. I guess it's because of the posers, like what Ayato and her friend did back then. Damn, I hate posers. Desperate for attention, I guess. But the compliments are not even for them..

Most of the cosplays in this thread are really well done. Even though there are about what..215 pages of cosplay in this thread, all of what I have seen are pretty well put together. If anyone was at the last Supernova in Melbourne, I was that asian kid that came dressed as L (with about ten million others dressed as L...==") It's funny cause L is the most easiest person to cosplay I reckon. Nothing over the top and nothing too fancy. Just plain and simple. There were two people that took photos of me as L. If you who are reading this know who you are, then please message me cause I want those photos as well. Anyways heres my attempt at L.


I realise my fringe isn't on the same side as L and I don't have as much volume or length of hair as his but I figure, so long as the spirit of L is there, I'm good. Besides, it's easier for me NOW to get L's hair since ma hairs grown out a lot more. This was like about 3 or 4 weeks back so yeah.


This was after the convention. My hairs gone a bit flat due to the wind and such. Otherwise I reckon I put together a good look for him. =D

Monkey D. Luffy / Portgas D. Ace (One Piece), Zack (FFVII), Hibari Kyouya (Reborn!), Mugen (Samurai Champloo) or Wolfwood (Trigun).

I assume you don't wanna have to bleach your hair, so they're all dark haired. You might need hair extensions for some of them though. IMO you would make a good Luffy or Wolfwood.
