Police arrested Yuki Goto, a former member of pop music duo EE JUMP, Saturday on suspicion of stealing some 1 million yen worth of copper wire from a construction site in Tokyo's Edogawa Ward.
Goto, 21, was arrested after he turned up at a police station accompanied by his lawyer, police said. He has admitted to the charges. In conspiracy with two teenage boys already under arrest, Goto stole some 80 pieces of copper wire on July 15, they said. Goto is a younger brother of famous pop singer Maki Goto, a former member of all-girl pop music group Morning Musume. He quit show business in 2002.

EE Jump was a J-Pop duo made up of Sonim and Goto Yuuki (Goto Maki's younger brother). The Tsunku-produced group was not admitted into the Hello! Project simply because of Yuuki's gender. The group proved to be very quirky and sometimes downright weird, but their combination of pop/opera/rap/hillbilly-music proved to be very popular.



After Yuuki was caught in a bar underage, he was to take a 3-month leave from the group. During this time Sonim released a single under 'EE Jump featuring Sonim' which become one of the groups more successful singles. EE Jump released one more single before they split.

People often steal copper and resell it cuz they can get quite a bit when they sell it to scrap yards. It's been happening and still happens in the US.

i used to like EE JUMP....liked their songs especially 'seishun no sunrise' or sth like that...

He had such a bright future. He should just continued on and I'm sure he'd be famous. Show biz is really hard and he should have pressed on like his sister. Now he just resorted to stealing which is very sad for me.
