I'm nervous because I have to meet my ex tomorrow.. I'm still now over him yet.. and tomorrow he wants me to meet his new girl..
but I'm Mai the strong one! I have to face this sooner or later and get over with it.. I will not show him that I'm nervous or sad, right? I lost him as a boyfriend, I don't want to lose him as a friend..

@Ginny: I remeber us talking about our fathers once in the Diru-thread. *hugs*

The thing with my father is that I don't have any emotions towards him. Just...nothing, absolute blank. I met him a few times in my life, but he never left a lasting impression, I never felt like saying "he's my father".

When he contacted me via e-mail shortly before christmas last year I was excited. I somehow had the hope to come to terms with him, now that we're both adults I thought he'd find it easier to approach me. But after my second e-mail to him nothing came back. He just disappeared again...just like he did all those other times. All he ever really gave to me are his genes.

It's similar here. I'm really glad I have my mom. She annoys me big time sometimes...but then again we have so much fun together...and I could always come to her with my problems. She never yelled at me or hit me or anything, she just said: "Next time you do better."

Over the years we have become friends, more than mother and daughter. Although she still treats me like a baby sometimes...

@Amber I dont even like to think of him as my father. I've never really thought "I love my father" and I dont like anything about him. I dont have anything in common with him. He repulses me. I think of him as the person who is there, and who I hate. When you're little, what you need is parents who protect you, but he caused me pain instead, and filled me with fear. So he lost his chance. I've detached myself emotionally from him, completely.

I do have my mum though, and we are very close.

*nods* *hugs* Seems like we have something in common there. Although I was never scared of my father...it was other men raising fear inside of me and almost ruining my life.

Because of everything she went through, my mother tended to be overprotective. But when I needed her most she wasn't there to protect me. I don't blame her...no one is to blame except for that bastard that...that did those things to me. For more than two goddamn years of my life.

My mom said the same sort of thing. She said that she doesn't like the way the music sounds, and the fact that it's not in English. I told her that those were shallow reasons to not him. Now she can tolerate it, but I as long as I don't force her to listen to his music we are both happy.

I know how that feels . It's always hard to see them when your not over them yet. Especially when you think you are.


That is how it is with me too. The last time I saw my father I was 3. Up until that point I had his last name, but my mom told me that she was going to chage my last name to be the same has hers. When I went to see my father that weekend I told him and when he dropped me off he told my mom that he never wanted to see me again. (My mom told me this a few years ago) He was really never a father figure to me now that I look back on it.
And then a few years ago my mom was trying to get child support from him. He found our phone number and left a few nasty messages for my mom. One of the things he had said was "I have a child on the way, I don't need to pay for that one (referring to me) too"
The only father figure I've ever really had in my life is my step-dad. I don't even really see him as a father figure, for various reasons, none which I'll discuss here.
I know I have my mom behind me 100% and I can go to her for everything. We have a very open and honest relationship and I'm happy for it.
