Synopsis


Tamaki plays a good-for-nothing teacher who gets assigned to a girls' high school in Nara. He becomes a "deer man," working to prevent the downfall of Japan under the orders of the deer of Nara Park. Ayase plays his partner, a teacher in the social studies department that is a "history otaku."

Oh yes. Real deers. That's one of the things that Nara is well known for. I'm not too certain about the plot because I'm too lazy to read the synopsis but it definitely is bizarre. Tamaki looks awfully haggard in the pictures in the official site.

The press conference for Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi was held today. Main cast members, Tamaki Hiroshi, Ayase Haruka, Kodama Kiyoshi, Tabe Mikako, Sasaki Kuranosuke and Shibamoto Yuki, were present at the event. Tamaki said, "It's a drama that's difficult to explain but please follow it because it is very interesting."

Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi is a fantasy novel that was published in 2007 and was even a nominee for the Naoki Prize. Tamaki plays the protagonist, Ogawa Takanobu, who becomes a temporary science teacher at a high school for girls in Nara because he was forced out of his university for interpersonal difficulties, and finds himself troubled by individualistic teachers and insolent students. However, he is suddenly entrusted with an important mission by talking deer and starts striving hard.

The drama starts airing every Thursday from 17 January at 10.00 p.m. The first episode will be an extra 15 mins long.

I need to check this drama out cuz of Tamaki. Wonder why he keeps losing weight since he already looks absolutely gorgeous during the Nodame series days. Hope Tamaki and Ueno Juri will pair up again in another series soon! I love them in Nodame Cantabile and their chemistry's incredible good.

I was wrong. The first episode doesn't come out until like Wednesday, I believe.

To be honest, I don't understand why he keeps losing weight. I mean Tamaki Hiroshi. I was looking his stats up the other day [because I was looking up Kame's stats because of his 1 Pound no Fukuin stuff].... and he's like half a foot taller than me but only 1 kg more than me.

What is that?! I swear, that's like unhealthy. Very unhealthy. Kame's only like 4 cm taller than me and the same weight as me. But like, Tamaki Hiroshi is not healthy.

It isn't crack-fested as I thought. The comedy is subtle and not too over-the-top.
Episode 1 starts off slow, but once it reaches the end ..I got chills. xDD
Especially when the deer talks to him!

Tamaki looks so scrawny. I hope he gains some weight later on.. just like how it was for Heavenly Forest at the end. He went from skinny to normal weight. xD

Just a few minutes ago, I was talking with my sister about the (sometimes) boring plots of asian dramas...the forever though boy who falls in love with the ultra sweet girl, but faces a huge problem that can only be solved one way: letting the girl go..but eventually they will find a way to be together..

Untill I read about this drama...oh my god, i couldnt stop laughing ...this is just great!!! i've never ever everrr seen somebody pull of this kind of plot...i'm gonna watch this just for the fact that someone dared to do this...

i still have to laugh about it...rofl

Synopsis
Forced out of his research group after conflicts with his colleagues, Ogawa Takanobu takes up an offer to teach at a girls' high school in Nara. When taking roll call on the first day one of his students, Hotta Ito, sneaks into class late, claiming a bogus excuse--that she got a ticket after trying to park her deer in front of the train station. He makes immediate enemies with Hotta when he tells his superiors about her tardiness and attitude. In the following days, he begins to notice something unusual about Hotta, but he can't seem to put his finger on it.

With an odd group of colleagues who live together with him, Ogawa slowly accustoms to life in slow-paced Nara, where there seem to be as many deer as people. Walking through Nara Park one day, he begins to befriend the local deer population, feeding them rice wafers. After being confronted by a talking deer who commandeers him to prevent the destruction of Japan, he fails in his first mission and the talking deer exacts punishment--looking into the mirror the next day, he discovers he has turned into a deer from the shoulders up. Ogawa slowly begins to piece the puzzle together: the talking deer, the mysterious student, and a recent series of earthquakes that could spell doom for Japan...

I just want to start a thread on this drama. I have only watched 2 episodes on Veoh but I find it really sustains my interest. It is about this guy who attracts all sorts of misfortune onto himself but turns out he has quite a mission. It is highly entertaining and is not a typical drama, but full of Japanese mythology. The scenary of Nara is really serene and beautiful. Best of all, this drama has Tamaki Hiroshi in it. It is amazing how he switches from the role of Chiaki to this one. Hiroshi is such a versatile actor. It is worth seeing this one.

yes i am watching it, and i love it. i really like the whole idea behind it, though i do still laugh at the fact it is a deer. Who would have though?! huh. lol. but Tamaki hiroshi is great, like the cast...good actors and great intriguing plot to it.

i don't really get why this drama doesn't have much view rates.
it might be a little bit boring 1st episode but it gets really good later on XDD

I really love this show. It's really funny and a bit mysterious. I've just watched ep 6 last night. The story gets more & more interesting. Can't wait for the next ep to be out. "Chiaki" is so cute too!!! I was laughing so hard at that scene... when the girl caught him touching his backside for "his tail" while looking his reflection in the bathroom. It was absolutely priceless!
