QUOTE
The six young faces, although bringing along a childish personality, when combined together, they form the most popular idol group. When first seeing them, they look like one, unable to determine who is who. After chatting, I think they are not mixed together as one, but clearly and obviously shown are six unique characters. All in their twenties, they already gained a huge amount of money. However, they do not pursue for just being idols, they want to have recognition for their hard work and effort.
When the six of them looks at me with focus, they seem excited to listen to my interview questions, which surprised me. Like being on the TV show, they love to joke, without losing any of their handsome character. As the interview begun, they began to get humorous. When I asked them about their living conditions, the six of them got really talkative.
"Other than our house being messy, everything's good," Ah Wei said, "Since we always hold conferences about performances at home, we always sit and chat in the living room at night times."
"It's very convenient to play mahjong too. If you just call out, there will definitely be enough people to play." Wei Lian said, cracking everyone up.
Not only are they accepting this arrangement of living together, it seems as they all really need this connection. From arguments to understanding each other, they understand that Lollipop's success came from everyone of them. Although Lollipop looks as if they're just popular for being idols, being loved doesn't mean being approved. What I saw was, their appearance is their money, but going in this direction, they were also humble and hardworking to gain recognition. "We are trying to tell everyone, that we have something in our tummies." Xiao Jie said.
The toughest thing about being an artist is to pursue in education as well, but they did not let education become a burden. They said that although working while learning is very tiring, they still find education really precious and reminding themselves that they have to work hard when working. They choreograph themselves, write melodies and lyrics, as well as hosting shows. They put in effort for every job, with strong determination that they are not idols that only rely on their appearances.
"Our stomach do have what is needed." Xiao Jie recalls.
After three years of MFBBT, not only do they feel depressed about the show ending, they did not stop to save the show from finishing. The Lollipop who were young and unsure, has grown up, and its time to look at the show ending as a new beginning, to leave home and strive around the outer world. When discussing about this show, they all said that MFBBT is their home that formed Lollipop as a group. When they pointed out that their journey is harder than other artists, I found it surprising. Xiao Jie explained, "Because we came as normal human beings, but after being trained in the show, we were being looked down by others who have similar qualities, that we will not have a good future." Towards this situation, they were honest that they had a lot of pressure. To face this tough problem, they had to build up a strong bond and work the fullest. "However, this is also an advantage," Wang Zi added, "Because our personal character are shown on the show that allows the audience to understand, we easily gathered a lot of supporters."
Although being despised by others, their natural personality became a favorite. When Lollipop was formed, supporting and opposing voices were both as loud, which also created Lollipop's greatest motivation and stimulus. They did not give up after achieving this popularity, because they think that nothing is ever enough.
When questioned about their goals, Ao Quan said: "Our goal is to become like SMAP! We want to develop and achieve success in every area as a group." The album's creation, the concert's preparation, they want to do more for them to grow up and get recognition. Most artists have the same goals, but can the six of them together multiply this determination by six? Or is that too much?
Young idols always make others love and hate. Loving their charisma, jealous of their fame and fortune. Have you thought of what you're planning for yourself in your twenties?
Lollipop gave up their ten years of youthfulness, choosing another lifestyle, another beginning.
