Well like on the front page HB ends at about 11 'cause of the fireworks (don't wanna disturb other people in the area)
fireworks is only like a few minutes at the end
well the pre-activities starts that early but you dont have to come that early haha
yeah you can just go around look at the booths...get free stuff...talk to people...meet people.. (soompi meet :0) ummm last year there was this radio thing and people performed were asked to perform outside the hb...well in it but not in the ACTUAL concert area just right outside of it
if you wanna go that early i dont think you'll be too bored if you go with friends but you really arent going to miss out on much if you choose to come later

They said the bus was almost packed
after the concert rofl..
And I saw it myself while we were
driving out of the parking lot.
It was pretty packed O.o...
I'm saying this from my experience. I rode the bus to the hollywood bowl and back home every year i went. Its safe. These buses are set up by the Hollywood Bowl. Its called Park & Ride. Basically you park your car at one of the Park & Ride stops and ride the foothill transit bus to the Hollywood Bowl. The park and ride stops are located in many cities. Its safe. I ride it from the Rowland Heights stop. I take the bus to the HB and i take the same bus back to the Rowland Heights stop and go home. Its perfectly safe. The bus is packed with people from Hollywood Bowl going there and going back home. When we go home most of the people are sleeping because we are exhausted from the concert.
So the bus is perfectly safe to ride at 11-12 midnight. The buses provided by Hollywood Bowl are. The other ones i'm not sure. I have taken these buses to the HB and back every year so i can guarantee its safe. I'm taking the bus this year as well. Its convenient and i don't have to struggle to find parking especially since its packed. When the concert ends its harder to get out. It can take up to an hour to get out. So i like taking the bus.
The most important thing is after the concert you have to get on the bus you took to the HB. The bus that goes to your stop where you parked your car. So its important you don't miss your bus or you won't have a ride home.
Most of the people on the bus are Korean ajoomas and ajuhsshis. There are families who come together and also young teens, adults etc...
To find out which cities are available for Park & Ride go to this site.

So many questions!! I'll do my best to answer them since I've been to Hollywood Bowl almost every year (I missed one year), and how the whole event is laid out.
But number one, PLEASE DO NOT CONVO! Please PM each other.
1) Do we need a confirmation number to pick up our ticket?
It seems as if some people received confirmation numbers and some did not. All you really need is the person's name the ticket was bought under, and the phone number. It's also handy to have the last 4 digits of their credit card number that the tickets were charged under, and also know which section seats were bought. If you are really paranoid, you can call them and ask for a confirmation number. But honestly, when they look for your ticket, it's by your name, and they double check with your phone number.
2) Can we take the bus to and from Hollywood Bowl?
Hollywood Bowl offers a system called Park & Ride (go read SANBI's post). Rather than calling it a bus, you should call it more of a shuttle bus, since it doesn't stop at every bus stop. It picks you up at a specific location, takes you to the Hollywood Bowl, and brings you back. This is for people who want to save money on parking; however, there is a fee to take the "shuttle." Because the Korean Music Festival is during the off season of Hollywood Bowl, Korea Times has to rent out specific locations for the Park & Ride, so not all of them are available.
3) Can you we take a taxi after Hollywood Bowl?
Yes you can, but realize that you have to wait a LONG while after the traffic out there dies out. So many cars are trying to leave that area, that to find the taxi you ordered might take forever. I would suggest waiting it out or you can walk out to Hollywood and Highland area. There are always people walking around, but I wouldn't say it is exactly safe. Always have a number to a taxi company on your phone/wallet. There are also Korean taxi's which are cheaper. But taxi's are quite expensive in LA. There are many hotels near the Hollywood Bowl, so you can go in there and ask the concierge for a taxi company number.
4) What time should I get to Hollywood Bowl?
They do have preconcert festivities which not only includes freebies, but also mini concerts hosted by Radio Seoul. Last time, the group SERIOUSLY had a little performance. They sometimes have little dance performances, taekwondo demonstrations, or fan dances. You don't have to come that early (2 is early!!). Come around 3 or 4. It's also held OUTSIDE of the actual bowl. They don't open the entrance to the actual bowl until 30 minutes before show time. There is one main entrance that people try to squeeze in through, but there are actually THREE entrances into the bowl. There is another one in the middle (but if you go through this way, you won't get your glowsticks!), and there is a Pool Circle entrance on the backside of the bowl dome.
5) Do they give out Hollywood Bowl t-shirts?
They don't give out shirts. I believe the only year where they actually gave out shirts was in 2006 for World Cup. But other than that, people in the pool circle were given fleece jackets last year.
6) Can we sell our ticket if our favorite artist doesn't come?
It's your ticket, and you can do WHATEVER you want with it. Even if your favorite artist doesn't come, you might see your NEW favorite artist at the bowl! Korea Times does their best to pick only the best and top performers of Korea. And they also make sure to put on a top notch show that EVERYONE would enjoy. If they don't bring your favorite artist, don't sell your ticket! You should still go! There is nothing like going to a HUGE SOLD OUT outdoor Korean concert. I don't think I've ever heard anyone regret going to Hollywood Bowl. And who knows, maybe the artists that they bring will be a new favorite of yours once you see them LIVE!!!
IMPORTANT! Make sure to BRING FOOD! If you forgot to bring food, buying it at the Bowl is EXPENSIVE! You can go out to the main street and walk over to Subway and bring it back. It is a LOOOOOOOONG concert, so make sure to have food and water to keep you energized.
Also, it is an OUTDOOR concert, and Hollywood Bowl is up in the mountain area, so make sure to bring a jacket just incase you get cold or winds start blowing.
I hope this helped.
NO MORE CONVO-ING PLEASE!

*SANBI*, for redirecting the bus info again.
Since i'm not an LA person, never traveled by myself there alone before..
i'm not quite sure how to read the map/locations on the pic they provided.
I'll be coming from LAX amtrak station.. and i'm not sure, the LAX airport is totally a different place right

..
*confused*
Well anyway~ i'll prob be coming by train and was wondering if the shuttle park & ride service comes to the station..??
I doubt it right....?? Hmm... if not, then maybe a cab to the park & ride pick-up place???
And i'm planning to come straight to the amtrak station when the concert's over.. I have way too many reasons to not stay in a hotel afterwards

One meal could exceed twenty very easily. My friend & I shared food last year (sushi & bottles of water) & i think it was like $30. Seriously, bringing your food is a GREAT idea...not to mention that you don't have to wait in long lines. All the older people there brought like picnic-style baskets with food & drinks in them...my eyes were like O__O when we saw the people in the box in front of us pull out wine glasses & wine & bibimbap & rice & stuff. haha.

Just a few questions for clarification's sake, if someone doesn't mind answering:
1. I'm nottt Korean. X]]
Would I be totally lost about what's going on?
I am going first and foremost for the music. I'm going with a friend, but
she's Chinese. So we're both hopeless except for the basic language.
At least, I know some. She knows nothing. So, is it still worth it to go? I would hope so.
=]]
2. All this talk of bringing food... how long IS this concert? I hear till about 11, correct?
With fireworks and all. But can you get out before then?
3. My seats are Bench_1, right next to the Superseats. Not horrible for a first time, right?
I'm only 15, this is killing my budget as it is (since all my friends are having 16ths this year)
=]]]]
Can't wait for the artists list.
I hope we all have a good time there.
I'll probably be the only Indian face in the crowd.

i'm not korean either and i'm going by myself this year. last year there were a lot of non-koreans and they seem to be fine :]

2. yea, the concert ends around 11-ish. hmmm..i think you can leave earlier, but i'm not sure cuz i've never done that ^^"
i'm bringing food cuz i'm gonna go to the concert earlier than starting time.

1. No, you won't be totally lost. Last year, Brian Joo was the MC, and I believe he did some english translations (I don't remember, I was too excited). But even if, Hollywood Bowl is a great experience, and all the staff there speak english.
2. FOOD = MUST. Well, IMO. If you're up in the pool circle or garden boxes, you won't really want food because you'll be screaming your heads off (like I was at pool circle last year. I literally bought a bagful of food and it was left forgotten). But unless you're going to be super occupied in your seats, I would recommend bringing at least a snack.
3. Last year, my friend sat where you are sitting, and he said nobody was screaming or anything. He wanted to stand up and stuff, but all the people around him told him to sit down. LMAO! But hey! Dare to be different. You paid for those seats, and you should be able to do whatever you want.

Mar 2 2008, 07:46 PM
1. I'm not Korean either. Most everything is in korean so it's really hard to understand what's going on at times....like you won't understand all the jokes or anything they're saying. My advice for you is to be familiar with the artists so you can tell who's who....or start making new friends with the people around you. The MCs only spoke a few lines of korean last year, which I was disappointed at since I hoped they'd say more than "Is everyone having a good time?" in english.
2. Yes you can, but why would you? o_0 it's totally worth it to stay the entire time, especially for the fireworks & streamers & stuff. And sometimes all the artists get together at the end to do one last performance all together.
3. Everyone will have fun no matter what seats they are in. I don't know if you will be able to see the artists clearly since I haven't sat there before (bring binoculars? or a camera with good zoom lol) but they have giant screens on both sides of the stage so you'll still be able to see everything that's going on.

hollywood bowl's food is super duper overpriced, they sell all kinds of korean food + korean snacks and i saw this one korean snack that usually costs $.50-$1, but it was $3!!
the free stuff they give you, food wise, is little - last year they gave a bottled tea + kimchi(not that tasty& i love eating kimchi) and ramen snacks - SO BRING OWN FOOD!! you'll need the energyy

if you go wt the mindset that you're there for great music, you'll have a great time! there is no english translations which was hard for my friend who knows no korean whatsoever, (i could barely translate) but she managed to have a fabulous time bec it was so high energy and we were screaming along wt everyone else!
what made it so good was I saw both young and old really enjoy themselves together. that's almost non-existent in any other concert venue. teens screaming & parents dancing!! whether it's kpop music or trot music, it was a super fun concert! be ready to be entertained! oh, and be ready to lose your voice!!

And in regards to picking up your tickets, I ordered mine over the phone and even though I brought everything (ID, Confirmation, CC, etc.) the guy didn't even want to see it, lol. Last name, First name - that was it. (HE recited my phone number..I didn't even have to say it, but I was proabably just lucky. hehe.)
Food suggestions: There were two older ladies that came all the way from Japan just to see BoA (!) perform and they brought snacks like Pocky and rice crackers, and dried goodies like those...they even shared with me (they were so sweet!) and it tasted like heaven since I was starving. lol.
I can't wait to go ..with my new HB partner, Amy!!!! yay!
