I went to bcbg today and tried on some dresses~


- This one was really nice, but the straps were a bit long (even though I adjusted it to the shortest length), guess I don't have the chest to fill it and it was a deep cut


- The yellow is very fresh! Loved it so much but the length was a little hard to deal with.. and it's expensive! I thought it would cost a lot to alter is as well (length)



- This one was really fun and it's affordable, I'm really considering this one. But I'm not quite sure if it's "prom-ish" enough.. does it really matter? I was thinking if I were to wear a long dress, it'd be hard to dance in. Experiences/comments anyone? It's also not as short on me as it is on the model (I'm only 5'0")


-This one was really cute so I just had to post it up I just had an issue with the colour (dark blue?) and I didn't want to wear black/close-to-black to prom

yeah it was malevolent who got her dress done similar to that. sadly she didn't get to wear it though. rofl.

Those are fab prom dresses!! Wish I were going to prom this year.. but my ex and his new girlfriend are gonna be there. They'll ruin my time.

If I were to go to prom, I wouldn't mind a cute empire dress.

my prom was saturday and i had fun. i actually forgot about school and had a great time with my dates. i made my dress. the pictures are still in my camera.

but for any ladies asking about getting your makeup done. i got mines done at clinique and they didn't make me buy anything. they assume you have to buy stuff and they kept saying "you have to buy three in order to get the free gift" and things like that to make it seem like you had to get something. my friend went with me to get hers done and she skipped out on buying something after she secretly asked a sales lady if she was required to buy something. i ended up feeling really bad and bought a foundation and lipgloss for a whopping $40. i ended up not using both of them for the night .

the lipgloss was $18, i know i'm for sure going to return that useless thing. my other friend got hers done at mac and she bought the lashes they applied on her. she did buy a couple of other things but they never said you had to buy $50 worth of stuff or three items. it's implied but i highly doubt it's enforced. what are they going to do, wipe off all of your makeup if you don't buy anything afterwards? haha.

how much do you guys usually spend for prom hair and makeup? does MAC people at the mall do a good job with makeup?

I would say go for number 2 because the color is different from what i have seen, since

don't do a short dress!
and don't do anything too form fitting if you u are considering yourself to be chubby. all that's gonna do is draw attention to your flaws.

short is okay IMO for shorter girls, plus you can wear higher heels and show them off (:
for dresses i would suggest going for smth that has rouching near the waist or hip if you are self-conscious... the tucking of the the fabric there will camoflauge any imperfections you dont want noticed

it really depends on your personality. i don't like a lot of heavy makeup so i opted for clinique instead. mac, it's all studio makeup. everything is very pigmented so if you wanted something dramatic then you could go there. however, a lot of times i see people go overboard on the makeup and they look like drag queens. but that's my opinion. look at the makeup artists to see what they have on their face and determine if you want that or not. they do a better job than the regular over the counter sales associates who had no formal training, but you just have to tell them what you want.

asukaxD - if you claim to be chubby, wear a dress with ruching on the side, like another soompier said, or go for a babydoll type dress (like number 6). the ruching on 4-5 mighttt look good too. try and find a dress in the stores to try it on =] i found the 4-5 dress at windsors

haiirohana - i dont like it. haha i mean.. it's nice and simple, but it reminds me of either a lil girl's dress or like.. a bridal-maid-of-honor thing.

buy one online ;] it's more likely to be different from everyone else, but it's also more likely to be expensive. plus, you won't know if it'll look good on you =( unless a store near you has it. which brings me back to the first point. lol
