I don't think short dresses are too casual. To my prom I'm wearing a short red dress that goes to my knees and I plan on glamorizing it with accessories. And I'll probably style my hair in a formal updo so it'll look fine.

I know some friends who went to prom last year with poofy long dresses and they ended up sitting most of the night since it hard to dance in.

I love the spring colors. Betsey Johnson is just sooo pricey though.

I graduated two years ago, but what helped me find my dress was looking online on nordstrom.com. The dresses there aren't obviously cheap, but I love the browsing options they have for you. I recommend looking under the section for women, click on "dress shop", and then there are several categories they have for you. You can browse by size, color of dress and body shape too. You probably want to browse under cocktail (dresses), prom/homecoming (dresses) and evening gowns. They gave me really great ideas on what to look for when I went shopping for my dress.

I've noticed that almost all prom dresses reveal most of the back and the chest area.

Question: Has anyone seen a prom dress that doesn't reveal the back side but still look gorgeous??

I love love LOVE this dress! It's so elegant and pretty and I love the back. BUT it's way too expensive and our prom has a dress code against low, revealing backless dresses. Oh well, it's still really nice

light skinned people tend to look good in cool colors (blues, greens, etc) and dark skinned people tend to look better in warmer colors (reds, golds, etc)

there was one part that advises girls that are not tall to avoid wearing long dresses.
i am quite short actually.. and i havent get my dress..

if you're short, dont go for a full length dress~

I'm short and I'm going to get a dress that's just a little past my knees, or halfway down my shins/calves. I find that it's much harder to walk in really long dresses, especially if you're wearing high heels. And I'd rather have comfort all night dancing and walking.
