Love of Siam

" รักแห่งสยาม ''Love of Siam shows the relationship of a weak family, a lonely girl, teenagers who start to know the meaning of love and friendship that will be remain in the memory forever. The story begins when old friends Tong and Mew meet by chance at Siam, a well-known place that teenagers in Bangkok hanging out. Tong is a popular and handsome boy who is bored with his pretty girlfriend like Donut. Tong just discovers that pretty girlfriend is not the answer for something in his life. While Mew is a quiet guy who is obsessed by music, and secretly loved by Ying, a girl next door. Mew is facing hard time trying to compose love songs after his grandmom died. Later, Mew introduces Tong to June, a girl who looks alike Tong's lost sister. Tong comes up with a plan for his mother to hire June for being his sister, hoping to cure his father from alcoholism. June accepts the offer and becomes a part of Tong's family. Everything in Tong's family seems to be better since June has arrived. June is loved by Tong's family, but she begins to feel whether she does right.

I think the introduction missed out one of the main storyline of the movie. Mew and Tong like each other. And there's a kissing scene in the movie. Hehehe.

the act is so-so, but the looks make up for it.
the parents were wonderful though. i love the mom. ^^

Pitch caught my eye throughout the whole movie. he has this shy boyish charm.(:
it was a good movie, i cried at some parts. Love the OST too. The acting in this movie isn't really good to be honest. But like what luluponyazn said, the looks of the actors makes up for it.
Donut got on my nerve though. wanted to slap her.

i love this movie. it's such a tear jerker. mario and pitch did a really good job acting out their parts. i esp loved sinjai's performance as the mom.

after watching the movie, i thought there was too much bashing on the kissing scene...it really was just innocent.

Best Thai movie I've seen!! I'm sooooo in love with Pchy....T__T He's really adorable and I've now become a new fan of August band. lol The soundtrack's great too. I'm going to get it all for my collection. Worth the money!

I love this movie it's one of the best of 2007, I believe! The acting was great, specially from Sinjai Plengpanit as Tong's Mother

Good movie. I recommend it, but watch it with an open mind and some time because the movie will go by pretty quick.

'Rak Haeng Siam' is Thailand's submission for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film

Writerdirector Chukiat Sakweerakul's "Love of Siam" ("Rak Haeng Siam") is Thailand's submission for this year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Srirat Nujaniyama, director of the Federation of National Film Associations of Thailand, confirmed yesterday that last year's acclaimed drama had been sent to the Oscars.

Gay romance

A story of family dysfunction and romance between teenage boys, "Love of Siam" swept best picture honours at Thailand's major film awards earlier this year.

The drama was recently released in Taiwan, where it peaked at 10th at the box office two weeks ago. It has also been making the rounds at film festivals, heading next to the Southeast Asian competition at the Cinemanila fest.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 96 countries to submit films. A committee in Los Angeles will whittle down the entries to a shortlist of nine titles, and a second committee will choose the final five nominees.
