Is it me or more singers adding sound effects to their songs? Like in the beginning there's a car crash, modem dialing, phone ringing, etc. I heard two different songs that had the exact same car crashing sound. It's starting to annoy the crap out of me.

you know what chinese music video trend i really don't like?
....very very very dramatic music video stories. I can handle a bit of sadness and drama in a music video but man some of the new videos out there now are kind of over dramatic and sappy where it becomes kind of funny, and alot of segments with long dialogue involved. Somehow i think it started with guang liang's song -Tong hua haha. I'm sorry if that offends anyone but thats just my opinion. i can't really think of alot on the top of my head now but i'll just name a few
landy wen- sha gua
show luo- hao peng you
nicky lee- xiang tai duo (i think thats the title)
cao ge- pei pan (i LOVE that song)
hu yan bing- nan ren ge (love that song too but the video was not good)
jay chou- wo bu pei (cell phone rings in the beginning of the video =])
i'll leave it at that for now >_<

What's with people and their generalizations? Again, it's NOT just Chinese music. You do realize that the whole video-with-storylines thing was at least a little bit influenced by Kiss- Because I'm A Girl right?

I agree. I really dislike generalizations.
I swear, everytime I see some kind of 'bad trend' in music, a lot of people automatically point fingers at Cpop.
What's up with that?

^ totally agree, it's not just Cpop, it's not even just Kpop, western music has its fair share of slamming doors, radio noises etc. I dont mind these sounds really, but I do mind the same storyline for MVs being used over and over again. I swear if I see another MV where someone donates their eyes.....

But i generally listen to chinese music and i was replying to chinese music only. I dont really know what kpop is like so i can't say much about it. I was comparing chinese music videos back in like the 90's to chinese music videos now...nothing to do with other languages of music

Dude I have noticed the trend with music videos, though. Not so much the music itself - but yea, seriously the whole over-dramatic story and plot lines of videos really gets to me. Always sad Asian high school scenes w/ the boy and girl staring at one another, running after someone, or someone walking away slowly as the wind blows - seriously, all the concepts have been OVER over used. No more originality.
But yea, like other people said, it's definately not just C-POP....I've noticed a lot of those dramatic, sad plots in K-POP. Not so much J-POP tho.
