I'm confused about Thai (people's) names. I understand they are written like Western names, with given name first and family name last. So the two brothers in Jam Loey Rak are Harin Rangsiman and Harit Rangsiman.

So far, so good. But then there are nicknames, like Aum and Aff. What are their real names? Aum Atichart and Aff Taksaorn are often-seen variants. So Atichart and Taksaorn look like family names (being written last). Like, William Gates's nickname is Bill, so his name is (most) often written as Bill Gates.

But Aum's and Aff's names can also be listed as Atichart Chumnanont and Taksaorn Paksucharoen. That makes it look like Atichart and Taksaorn are given names (being written first). But... Weren't they family names just now? What's the truth in all this?

Likewise, is Aom Phiyada's real name Akkrasenee Phiyada or Phiyada Akkrasenee?

As I said, I'm confused.

'Aum' = nickname
'Atichart' = first/real name
'Chumnanont' = Surname

Usually people refer to celebs by their NICKNAME followed by their REAL NAME. They rarely say their surnames unless they are formally introducing/welcoming them etc. There's really nothing much to it.....it's just like how koreans have their surnames first followed by their names for eg KIM JUNSU. It's just the order.

So....pretty much... NICKNAME - FIRST NAME - SURNAME ... that's the usual order except surname is only mentioned in some occasions. Hope that clears it up

For Aom, her name is Phiyada Akkrasenee, first and last name.

Aum's real name is Atichart, his family name is Chumnanont.
Aff's real name is Taksaorn, her family name is Paksukcharoen.

For Thai celebrities, people usually call only their nickname and first name. As you see, Thai people have a long last name and hard to remember. (including me ')

I ABSOLUTELY love how playful Aum is...especially to Joy. He is a total opposite of Harit. hehe. =) & when he let go of Joy because she said Pinky is calling. haha. i wish i was pinky...i`d be calling him all the time.

Finally finished the drama.
Overall, I thought it was alright.. some parts were really draggy and repetitive..
I kinda hoped for more scenes of Harit and Soraya.. and some kinda resolution to Sansanee's situation..
But since it's my first time watching a Lakorn, I'll cut it some slack..

And oh, not to mention.. altho the story's somewhat draggy, the actors did very well. Esp Aum and Aff, they really exude sizzling chemistry together. ^^

I just finished the drama too. Overall I enjoyed it, but more towards the end..

At first, I was so irritated with the fact that Harit and Soraya kept screaming at each other every chance they got. This is my first Thai drama, and so my first chance of knowing how the Thai language sounds like. I must admit with the two leads screaming and shouting, it didn't do much justice to the language.
Also, I giggled everytime Harit called Soraya "Sansanee..." (when he didn't know he made a mistake yet), don't know why but I just found it funny, and afterwards I always made a comment "that ignorant guy, wake up and realize your mistake". The torturing part is kinda draggy and repetitive, and the only thing I got from this part is Soraya's determination to escape. She just..didn't give up, which is good for her.

However, after Harit fell for Soraya, I found the two started to grow on me. They do have strong chemistry. Some of their scenes together are so sweet, as Harit became more gentle. The ones I particularly like are :
1. When they were talking through the gate (the dialogue and expression are just subtle but very nice)
2. Harit's first visit to Sansanee's house and he pretended not to know Soraya but ended up sneaking off to the bathroom to wait for her so they can talk.
3. The shopping part is just too cute
4. When Harit suspected Soraya of being pregnant and followed her as she saw the doctor. He seemed very happy as he mistakenly thought that she was indeed pregnant.
5. When Sansanee told him that Soraya's bracelet was from the guy she really loves. Soraya was embarassed as Harit heard all that and had this priceless smirk on his face.

After they started to talk politely and more like civilised people, without the yelling, I found the Thai language quite endearing.

^i agree. i admit, i was hooked the moment he kidnapped her, but imo, i started losing interest when there was just torturing and yelling back and forth. i know that's part of the story, but like the previous posters said, those scenes got redundant and tedious for me too.:\ so i stopped at the beginning of episode 4 and fast-forwarded to episode 10 when harit started falling in love with her. that's when i got SUPER addicted to the lakorn. then i went back to the episodes i skipped and watched only the scenes that had So and harit.


i can't imagine aff like that at all! anyway, i hope it's gonna be like one of stories where she hates him at first, but starts liking him after he saves her or teaches her a good lesson she'll never forget. hehe.

Wow!!! I can't wait for the next drama of Aum and Aff....he confirmed it already...
I still have JLR Fever until now...T__T...I miss them ...

I have joined in on the JLR Fever!!! XD This is the best lakorn I've seen in years, I'm so in love with it!!! Haha, and now that it's over I feel sorta...empty ?? So I continuously listen to the themesongs!
I'm very much crazy over this couple, Aff and Aum! They are my all time fav. couple now! Gosh, their chemistry just tops it all! I'm very happy that I got to share in watching them, because before this I never knew who they were!
Also, I've got a newfound love for AUM! He's one freaking HOTTIE! How could I have watched lakorn and never knew him? LOL...
LOL, even though they were criticized that Aum wasn't mean enough and Aff wasn't weak enough, in my opinion they played Harit and So so perfectly, and in such a modern version, it just fits! I love how Soraya wasn't all weak and let him do whatever, hehe...

WAh! I can't wait to watch Aff and Aum's new drama too! It sounds really interesting and I love how the role is sorta switched now, how Aum said he would suffer because of her, haha! So right, we did not get to see enough of them together in JLR - though I'm not really complaining since it was pretty much a really well made drama!

Thai lakorns are generally great, with great-looking actors and great stories, once you start to watch one, you'll want more. The one and only thing thats turn me off is that the non-availability of english sub. I'm so crazy over T-dramas& K-drama that I've gone to the extent that I learnt how to read/write/speak Chinese and read/write Korean. It takes long time, so I don't think this time I can afford to learn Thai language. Hopefully in the near future the production companies there will understand the need to sub their dramas and really do something about this, cuz the dramas really can sell. As for JAM LOEY RAK, this one simply is fever-inducing, thanks sub team!

woot, i love the thread starter for makin me chance upon this thread n watch tix drama....i was hooked n finished 13 eps in less than 2 days...n that's cos i stayed up til 7am to watch it....wooohohohohoh.............n that comin from an indian gal!

Harit is hottttt........the gal is not too bad lookin....

On the flipside, i gotta say that the gal's make-up was too unrealistic even for a drama...how can u wake up w neat lookin hair n heavy make-up every mornin? Alittle bit of blusher + mascara would have been enuff but her eyeshadow was way too obvious in every scene.....and one more thing i did not get was, when she ran away from the hospital and hid in the bus, Harit found her right...well she could have juz screamed for help...I'm sure someone would have come to her aid in such a crowded place...well well, i love this drama too much so i'll overlook all those that i mentioned.................tkx loads to the person who subbed this too...........!!
