more novel summarizing and corrections about CX and XY's initial meeting 2 years later:

According to the novel, it was never mentioned whether Anna knew whether CX was divorced or not. But it was hinted that she most likely did because they never got married in the two years they were together.

And then as to why she would stay with CX even if he was still married:
It's because she had lost all confidence in herself...after "giving up" dancing and ballet. So all she had left was Cun Xi.......who became her sole reason for living. But in actuality, during those two years CX and Anna didn't spend much time together because CX was very busy and focused most of his time on work related business.

I guess you can say that CX and Anna were boyfriend and girlfriend in name only...but weren't together often.

and I made a mistake about CX and XY's first meeting in two yearss. I got it confused with a later scene where they coincidentally saw one another. (see, it's fated for them to be together!!).

First meeting took place at a ballet in Shanghai:
CX and XY were assigned seats right next to each other at the ballet. CX first saw XY and saw how beautiful she became. I think a lot of the reason behind this was because XY became much more confident in herself....and that she was always beautiful just that she never did anything to stand out.

XY was too engrossed with the ballet to notice who she in the seat next to her. I guess the ballet was a really touching one because she started crying and CX handed her a tissue. When it ended, she went to thank the person who gave her the tissue and when she saw who it was....she ran away. CX chased after her and caught her.

The conversation between the two of them:
XY: Hi, how are you?
CX: I'm fine (ERRRR! Cun Xiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!! *shakes fist*)
XY: Are you and Miss Anna married yet? If not, please do not forget to send me an invitation.
CX: ...okay.

XY smiles and walks away. CX........you you you.... ERGHH!!!

I actually hope that the producer decides to deviate from the novel adaption because I also don't want XY to lose the baby.

lilswtangel, can you tell us more about what happened next after their first meeting? Does XY go all cold to CX or something in the comic version? Does she play hard to get this time? I certaintly hope so..

Oh, I hope not. I mean, I dont want her to go "Yes, I'll go back to you" the moment CX asks her. but, I still want her to contain that sweetness and kindness she has. She can be like that even in her confident self.

and thanks lilswtangel for the novel summary. i like how she goes "Send me an invitation [to the wedding]". there's that old XY in her but somehow showing her development. she's strong enough to say something that actually hurts her.

while watching ep11 with my sister, she keeps saying "mean" things about Anna; but i just couldnt hate her. Anna is so pitiful. yes, she's quite selfish but who could blame her for wanting love and career at the same time. unfortunately for her, love seems to be fading just when her career slowly vanished. such a pitiful character. at least with XY, there's still that room for her to achieve something more.

i downloaded the series, but i can't watch it because i know i'll get addicted... and it's so close to finals...

it aired right after Bull fighting, and during bull fighting's last episode, there was like a 10 minute introduction to this drama, and it's so funny because they were showing the behind the scenes about their bed scene... and joe and ethan drank a whole bottle of red wine (together) to help the nerves... and ethan says that 50% of acting is REAL... and he had to take of his BOXERS!!! hahaha i wonder what REALLY went on XDDDD

i do have to agree that just hearing this storyline REALLY reminds me of wonderful life with eugene (korean drama) and her famous drama prince turns into frog reminds of save the last dance for me with eugene too... actually a lot of taiwanese dramas remind me of korean dramas...

and ethan does look like ming dao A LOT O_O... but i kind of wished joe and ming dao would star in this together... no offense to ethan fans... ethan is great, but i'm more used to ming dao... they are the "dream team", or so called by a lot of fans.

OMG, he took off his boxers for the bed scene.. i just thought they were shorts when he passed them off. I didnt think they were boxers HAHAHHA! that was one serious bed scene then.

haha! that's what i was about to say - that's probably why they have another 'bed scene' in that preview for shanghai eps.

if they really do make XY have a miscarriage it would be a cop-out. the premise of the show was a one night stand that leads to pregnancy. that in itself is really new to tw-dramas. they shouldn't go back to the 'safe zone' of having her lose the baby - that's not reality and that's almost like the writers saying 'we don't want to get too controversial so we'll have her lose the baby'

i get that they may also want to follow the comic/novel, but it doesn't have to - it can be based on it, but not a full on adaptation

stupid episode extension. i feel like the extension caused this sort of scenario to happen. so although it may have been rushed, i would have liked it tidied up in 12 episodes. or maybe 13.

I just read that this drama made a huge rating. Currently downloading it and looking forward on watching it.

I would like it to not rush, but not drag out either. but by the way the ratings look, they're SUPER high... almost surpassing the #1 (prince turns to frog... also featuring joe chen... hahah), so i'm thinking it's gonna be around 20 episodes. which means they will have to drag out the middle and make more things happen... i guess to some it's good news so they can see their favorite drama longer, but for some of us who needs to see the ending before we die of waiting... it's another story (im one of those ppl who die of waiting XD)

Why do we worry about all these things when they haven't happened? The scriptwriters have done a marvellous job with the scripts so far, we should just trust them unless and until they mess up.

Concerning the extensions, again, how do we know the extensions are bad? There were so many HK/Korea/Taiwan dramas that didn't have any alterations/extensions and the scripts were still second-rated. Keeping to original script is not a guarantee to a high quality script. In fact, most of the time, many drama producers have to cut corners and not fully developed the plots and characters in a script because of lack of budget.

In the case of FTLY, it could be a case of now that the drama is so popular, they are willing to spend more. With more money, the short-comings of the original scripts, plots that were not well-developed, perhaps can now be rectified.

Well... you can't improve a plot that is not well developed just by adding a few more episodes. Of course, you can give the viewer some extra scenes that allow a character to have more screen time and give him more depth, and perhaps give the viewer some extended insight into a certain setting (with scenes that were scripted but cut due to time reasons). This is when you get a feeling of a story being rushed... or dragged, if the character details/plot details are cut/added.
But if a plot doesn't carry itself in the clipped version, then either your story is too complicated (blown up), or you've failed on some basic level of communication.
Well, of course, there's always the possibility of having a good script messed up by the director or the actors; after all, a line only is as good as the imagination and acting of the person who delivers it.

I beg to differ...if you have the option of adding a few episodes, then you can change the script to develop a plot or a theme. If you don't have the option of adding a few episodes, end of story.

Perhaps you and I are talking about two different things, is that possible?
If you start rewriting your script and create an "improved" version, then that means that something was wrong with the script and plot before. Then, that "bad script" (a script and plot that doesn't pull in the audience) shouldn't have been filmed in the first place, but the writers should've gone over it again and only submitted it when reaching that "upgraded" standard. This is what I am talking about.

Now, on having a good basic plot and a script that works and draws in the audience (like, "Fated to Love you" has), and being able to add a few more episodes to explore parts of the plot that would've been cut out otherwise, this is what you are talking about, do I understand this correctly?

I apologize for possibly sounding weird here, getting hung up over technicalities. I just don't wish to create a misunderstanding with what I said.

Also, I'm not worried at all about FTLY's extension... the show moves at a good pace so far, and the writers are doing a great job. So I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes very much.

Yeah, I think we are talking about different things. Now I understand what you are saying as well.

Even if we are talking about the same thing and cannot come to an agreement, I think it's cool as well. When it comes to drama and performance arts, there is bound to be different opinions.


My personal guess on the extensions is like this:

The story is supposed to be XY going to shanghai, lots of things happened among Dylan, XY and CX. This should take a few episodes and it is already planned for with the trip to Shanghai and what not.

Then XY came back to Taiwan and my guess is that the original script will rush through this part of the story and try to end it with 1 or 2 episodes so that the whole drama will end around 15-18 episodes. Personally I think for FTLY to be listed among a true classic among idol dramas, there must be more romantic scenes between CX and XY to touch viewers with their love. This is lacking because of the storyline so far. If the extension is to expand on the courtship of XY by CX after she returned to Taiwan, I would love it. There is alot of chemistry between CX and XY, but there wasn't enough romantic events between the two characters up to now.

Hopefully another preview from episode 12 will coming out soon. Since they had like three or four version for episode 11

For those that are worried about an extension, that probably isn't going to happen. "Prince Turns to Frog" was insanely popular, and it ended up only being extended like 1-2 episodes and still kept to the original plotline more or less. "Fated to Love You" is based on a novel, so it can't deviate too far from it in the first place otherwise fans will get mad.

Anyways, I love this show, finished all the eps that are up on youtube.. good job by all the cast except Anna needs to be shot. Right now. I can't wait until the next episode!! such a good series!!

Cause the comic version of Anna was such a beyotch there.she was upset because CX seemed so worry about XY after the accident. And that leads Anna to purposedly hurting XY by saying ''So XY was nothing but like a post-it-kit to you, right? Nothing important.". She was saying it when she and CX was visiting XY at the hospital, and right in front of her hospital room And I guess that's the reason why XY left Taiwan..

My favorite character is Xin Yi's mom. She gets side tracked when she's angry and then when she finally realizes it, she jumps and starts yelling. Wonderful woman
