I also like to add from another poster that were Bella really imprinted by Jacob, she would have no choice but to be with him. She can't escape her fate (Think of Emily and Leah).

I like both characters. Jacob is a likeable guy (at least at the beginning of New Moon), and his actions are justificable. It is part of the werewolves personality to be so agressive. And the added burden of not being able to spend time with the girl he loves because of what he is just makes it worse. Then there is the fact that the girl he loves wants to become a vampire and a mortal enemy of werewolves. I feel really sorry for him. He can be cocky sometimes, but he's also really bold. If a girl is too shy to do anything, Jacob would be just right for that girl.

Edward's really... sexy, haha. He has that charm and he is a great observer. He truly cares for Bella, and that's something a lot of girls look for. Is he truly unselfish? He can't necessarily be unselfish. He can be to an extent, but he was fighting just as hard as Jacob. Anyway, Edward is someone who also learns from his mistakes and tries his best to change for the better. That's a very desirable quality.

In reality, I would want someone with a mix of Jacob and Edward's personalities; they both have really desirable qualities about them. But since I have to choose and because the Twilight series is primarily about the relationship between Bella and Edward, I'm choosing Edward over Jacob.

Edward Cullen is described to be so perfect that its impossible not to fall in love with him. He's darn sexy and irresistible! Why else would the author literally compliment his beautiful looks in every paragraph if he was not meant to be a lovable character? His personality is nearly as flawless as his appearance. He is so damn attractive! I've never given such positive attraction to a character in a novel before.

Jacob in the beginning was a likable character but he just doesn't get my attention. Edward outshines him in many ways.

Well, I'm team Jacob all the way. Edward's alright, but Jacaob's character had me at hello! He's just so much more vivid than Edward. The first book was alright, but I fell in love with the series after reading the second book. The relationship between Bella and Jacob was just so much more interesting and passionate to me. So,yall can be dazzled, I prefer a little umph every now and then. Just remember, Jacob Black is made of awesome.

For some reason, I can't get into the whole Edward-craze. I tried, but failed. His personality just isn't what I'm attracted to. I mean, yeah he's super loving and loyal, but I just don't get into him. Jacob would be loving too, if he could get with Bella.

Plus, looks-wise, I love dark-featured guys. The whole white, pale vampire thing isn't appealing. Black hair is, however....although the pics i've seen of Jacob in the movie with long hair were YUCK! He looks hot with short hair though.

i agree with you! i didn't really care much for Jacob before. in book 3 i found him quite amusing, but i was too into edward then. then i realized edward was pretty boring. don't kill me D: i loved him in book one, but he changed alot after he met bella. he used to be so mysterious, and dangerous when he decided he was breaking all the rules, but after that he was all too cautious. but jacob stayed funny, sweet, and witty throughout. i loved the relationship between bella and jacob, how they were so comfortable to joke around with stuff that were really touchy topics. Even though no doubt i LOVE Jacob now[in the past i hated him]esp after reading BD,my opinion towards him changed a lot.He definitely became more mature and i like how he protected Bella and Nessy and even made friends with the Cullens!and when Edward changed to side with Nessy,Bella and Rosalie,i was still on Jacob's side.lol.

overall Jacob still cant beat Edward in anything,everything...Edward is definitely more understanding,more gentle,will NEVER THREATEN Bella to do anything she doesnt want...and many many more. so Edward still gets my vote.i still like Jacob a lot though.

Now um... I hope fangirls don't eat me for saying this but when it comes to favourite character, Jacob wins hands down because... Edward is so boring! Like I'm not saying he's so boring he'll put you to sleep and his gentlemanly demeanour is quite charming and all but he's so perfect (and Stephenie Meyer won't stop drilling that into our heads) that it gets a bit .. monotone like? At least Jacob has some more personality. He's one of the few redeeming characters in my opinion.

But I do understand him given that he is born a century before and experiencing love for the first time. And he truly dazzles people..hehe

I love Jacob in his point of view. But I hate it when guys can't move on and force themselves to the girl. Well it was mainly Bella's fault for being too clingy and indecisive in her actions..

Edward of course I can feel a strong chemistry between him and Bella. Jacob is a cute interesting character but he was just an important friend to Bella rather than a lover. Ehh, to be honest I didn't like his character at first.
