QUOTE (plurals @ Apr 27 2008, 08:43 PM)

i've been watching some interview parts (not all, too many O.O), i must say ZM has won me over. Talent (which he got loads) and personality-wise (he's a nice kid).
Siwon's personality in China seemed to have been turned up to 11. He was behaving like part-rockstar, part-gagman, part-teenidol and part-totalspazz. I don't think he changed in any way, just that the lulz side of his personality got through more. he was all over the show with Geng. much like KangChulShinTeuk are the talkers/moodmakers in Suju interviews. they provide the patented suju madness. Siwon and Geng are IMO the slightly fail-in-a-hilarious-way version of them.
Aww I'm happy to read about ZM winning you over XD. LOL sorry, I've been a huge supporter of that boy since the beginning so I'm always all sdjfkljYAY when people say he's growing on them. Hahaha. I think if people watched more of those interviews and stuff (or you know, just gave him a chance besides the 'he's-the-new-guy-must-hate-him-on-principle thing), they'd like him too. Everyone deserves a chance. He really is a nice kid. That has an amazing voice. (OMG @ 'Forever Love'!)
But what I really wanted to comment on was the Siwon thing! I agree. I've read stuff like "oh he's changed ... more arrogant, blah blah blah" but I honestly don't see it at all. In SuJu, it's sort of like Kangin and Chullie are in charge of the LULZ and general craziness. Especially Kangin, who talks a lot in their interviews (don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I lovelovelove Kangin ~ one of my favorites in SuJu). But now he's one of the oldest ones in SJ-M, and I guess he just has more liberty to let the crazy side of his personality come through XD. He's ridiculously funny, though. I really, really enjoyed all his imitations (the ones he did of other people and the ones people did of him) in part 2 of 越策越开心.
Hey, do you guys think they'll be releasing a 'repackaged version' of their CD? I can't keep ordering and cancelling and ordering and cancelling...! XD;;.
And sorry for another noobish question: what are the music ranking/charts in China called? (You know how Japan has the Oricon Charts, America has the Billboard Top 100, etc) And where can we view them? Thanks <3.

I think I just saw Very Big Star's Impression of Han Geng in here (hope I'm not wrong)
So I will put the whole impression of Suju M's members:
Very Big Star's Impression On Suju M
Han Geng: Wang Zhe's sky.
(Wang Zhe is an imperial, honorable, chivalrous person, sort of like royalty)
I never decided how to write this story. The more I care it, the harder it is to express myself clearly. Since he debuted, I have heard of him. I been following his news since two years ago. Last year, because of some reasons, we missed the chance of having him come alone, but finally he's here on our show successfully.
A long time before filming, when SJ-M was in its infancy and had no name, I have been told that we would be their first variety show. Yet because the exact time could not be determined, we did not reveal the news for a long time. So in the recent 4 months, I've been preparing for this.
In the 4 months of preparing, to find information about the guests, I almost visited all of their numerous fanclubs. Han Geng has a very good dancing background; he has a very amazing dancing aura; he has the body of a dance, the face of an actor; he's very hard-working, and also very humble; he has the necessary traits of a superstar--but he doesn't have a stage. Other than two TV stations, either he doesn't go on the screen, or he has to wear a mask--the Korean entertainment gave him two hard decisions, and it seems like that's all they could give him. Thus, in the long eight months, the only thing fans could talk about is pity for his talent and worry. Thus this environment gave me the wrong idea that Han Geng's very soft.
The afternoon on the day of filming, at 2:20, when the press conference began, SJ-M first entered my eyesight. The first greeting was "I'm SJ-M's leader Han Geng." Then, he officially answered the reporters' questions, joked with the host about Nanjing food, and translated the questions to his members. After the interview, he bowed to the editors and said, "Please help to promote SJ-M. Thank you. You guys worked hard." When to be official, and when to joke, he knew it perfectly, already acting like a real group's leader.
After the press conference, me, the outside-scene editor, the cameramen, and the hosts sat on the floor of the hallway talked. Little did we know that it was outside Han Geng's door. After seeing us, he immediately invited us to sit in his room, but because we felt bad about squishing all of us in his room, we declined, but still felt very comforted. A lot of precious things, he did not lose because he changed his position.
During the rehearsal, I first realized his differences with my impression. To make sure of the positions, he voluntarily asked for another rehearsal of <<U>>; After singing <<The One>>, he asked me to add a acapella; He carefully practiced the dancing telephone's music and moves over and over again...every little detail is proof of his change. What he's doing, what he wants the most, he knows better than anyone.
When editing the footage, the director asked me why didn't I ask about Han Geng's hardships in Korea, why didn't I make it more sentimental. I told him it's because it's the group's first variety show. But the real reason is because I don't want to see him cry, so I threw out the sentimental parts in the script. Meeting him that day confirmed my decision. I saw a Chinese report called him Hezhe ethnicity group's bold eagle; I know many fans called Wang Zhe Han Geng; the person I met in the short half of a day was a confident, strong leader. Whether a bold eagle or a Wang Zhe, he needs a sky that he could fly in, the wind under his wings, and the bravery to leave his sad scars. And these, I believe he can have.
If one day, as the bosses wish, Han Geng comes back on our show along, and we dig deep and ask about his past, I still don't want him to cry. Passing through layers and layers of obstacles, culminating life's many sacrifices and hardships, he grew to be a man that can make fans proud. Even if he was touched, moved, I still want him to use a cool expresiion to describe that poignant feeling, to nonchalantly say "life is very hard," yet still keep smiling.
Extras:
1. The boss asked me if I wanted a picture with him, and after carefully debating, I declined. My ego won't let me take a picture with someone whose face is smaller than mine. Even if I took the picture, I would only be embrassed.
2. After filming the beginning song, while they were re-putting on makeup, Han Geng grabbed me and asked me how to saw " I really miss you guys" with a Nanjing accent. Because I'm not from Nanjing, and can understand but not speak a Nanjing accent, I went through my memories of Nanjing accents and taught him. After that, I began to get worried, so I dragged Xiao Lu over to teach him. Apparently, I was wrong. After filming, I went to my office and repeated what I taught Han Geng, asking everyone what accent that is. Hao mei(younger sister/any younger female) stared at me and told me it's from <<Crazy Rock>>(a movie)... Faint...Thank goodness I didn't let Han Geng say it......
3. When resting, Han Geng wanted the music from the dancing charades, but couldn't find a MP3, so I took Lee's PSP and put the music in their for Han Geng. Because I'm game console-blind, I couldn't figure out how to play the music. After teaching me twice, Lee lost his patience and said that Han Geng would definitely know how to use. Just as he said, as soon as I gave the PSP to Han Geng, he found the music and began to listen to it......
Kyuhyun: Cute, the most sincere.
I don't really remember when I started to pay attention to Kyuhyun. But before actually seeing him in person, my impression on him really didn't match his age. Because my sister is also born in 1988, I generalized that this age is still a "kid". Of course, my impression on Kyuhyun was: high IQ, mellow voice, always the onlooker when there's something going on, in compared to the others he's shy---there's no way that this equals to the word "kid".
When I first saw Kyuhyun at the press conference, he was very handsome, very man, when he doesn't laugh he look very serious but when his smile has a childlike feeling to it. Even though his voice is very mellow, his high notes have a lot of strength, when he talks it's surprisingly very soft. And in addition to his shy smiles, it completely overthrows our impressions on a man and it immediately caught the hearts of two women editors. During rehearsing, he's the only one that was hot and didn't wear his jacket. Wearing a white shirt made him look a bit fatter than when he wears a black one. When they were rehearsing "U", his singing and dancing of the part where he has both of his arms on the opposite shoulder made all the women crew members shout "So cute!"
In a producer's point of view, the thing that can move me from a foreign guest is their sincerity. And the way that that was shown the most obvious was saying Chinese. Everytime when I go to their resting room, Kyuhyun is always with Han Geng or the manager and learning Chinese. I don't know whether it's because he's one of the lead vocals or his language ability is awesome, Kyunhyun, even thought his Chinese vocab is limited, his enunciation in terms for native Korean speakers, is pretty good. And what do you know, in the beginning of recording, Kyuhyun's perfect enunciation the tongue twister surprised everybody.
When we were editing, we could only hear their voices and not the melody. Under this circumstance and hearing Kyuhyun, his voice is really mellow and it's my favorite kind. A wonderful voice with small bits of cuteness and sincerity. How can I not like him?
Donghae: The little prince of dance
"The Little Prince" is one of my favorite books. Actually what I am about to say has nothing to do with the book, it's just that I think the prince gives me a feeling of Donghae. Not only a little prince, Donghae also gives me a feeling of other characters relating to childhood and growing up like the little prince, Peter Pan. This feeling might come from his eyes or come from somewhere that I haven't recognized yet.
Before rehearsing, they were in the meeting room resting and then the manager called me over saying Donghae is looking for me. When I went in, I saw Donghae holding his mp3 and listening to music. The manager waved his hand and he obediently walked over and pointed to the screen of his mp3, which was Justin's "My Love" and said to me "This dance I" and then looked at me, that look made me think that even if I didn't understand him, I should at least pretend I am. After saying I did understand him, Donghae was relieved. Taking his mp3 for the show, I saw that he had thousands of songs. Apart from their own songs, the other ones were mostly suitable for dancing. When I went to return the mp3, Donghae was learning "Later I will dance for you all" in Chinese. He even wrote pinyin on the script and word by word was learning how to pronounce it, he was taking it very seriously. After ten minutes when I was leaving, he still was reading that sentence. Sadly, when we were recording, we said a lot of tongue twisters and played a lot and when we were waiting to let him say that, Donghae realized that the tongue twister he just learned made him high and he forgot how to say that sentence. = =||
Sometimes quiet, sometimes he's very live, sometimes he might look sad, sometimes he laughs openly but no matter what time, his eyes will always give everyone a pure, innocent feeling. It was like his world in the beginning was missing some impurities. He's always more deeply absorbed when trying to find something he really wants. Just like the little prince finding his home, Peter Pan finding Neverland. But to Donghae, it might be dancing. "Left hand is the second road, keep on going forward until daybreak." --- In fairy tales, going anywhere is easy, I hope that in reality, Donghae's journey to his dream will be also simple and smooth.
Siwon: The funny one of the idol clique
Choi Siwon, "Battle of Wits" was the beginning of his entrance to the movie scene, or just maybe he has something else unlike other newcomers that made his road different from others. Before, my impressions of him were from the Korean variety shows, the quality of a prince, modest, gentlemen-like, handsome, attractive and having a sense of calmness that doesn't fit his age. This image was in my head but after recording, it completely was overthrown by himself.
A lot of people, if they do not know the language that well, would be more quiet than usual but surprisingly, in "Very Big Star", Choi Siwon, was more relaxed than when he's on Korean variety shows, he's even more funnier. Even though he said he's been studied abroad in China for a couple months and learned Chinese, but it's not as good as Kyuhyun and Ryeowook's enunciation. But this doesn't not affect his portrayal of being "the most funniest person on stage". Even though there is a language barrier, he can use his brain and make something that was awkward really funny. There's no need for language, but to use a more dramatic way or movements to show it. This completely surprised me.
He probably is the best person I've seen that can show his feelings so well. Staring at you can be surprising or pretending to be angry, smirking can be just having fun or pleased, closing his lips mean not understanding or pleased internally...It's like all the kinds of moods he can just use one eye expression and can portray it perfectly. Maybe this just might be what's called a born actor.
Ryeowook: The smiling angel
In compared to the killer smile, I always thought that a smiling angel would be more warm, and not having the existence of an intrusion. So SJ's killer smile is Kibum but for Ryeowook, he suits the the name of a smiling angel more.
Ever since that afternoon when they were going to the press conference, Ryeowook was always keeping a smile. A lot of people in unneccesary events who continue to smile makes others feel that he's hypocritical but Ryeowook is an exception. Smiling is his natural expression, just like how mostly other people's natural expression is having no expression.
Because I was there for both the press conference and interview, Ryeowook thought I was a reporter. Both times when they were leaving, he was very well-mannered and bowed to me and smiled. When I was going to the room where we were working on the script, Ryeowook, who was standing at the door, first saw me and was obviously shocked and then immediately responded to his mistake. He then carried an apologetic smile and nodded at me, I still remember it very clearly.
He's not the group's number attractive member but he probably is, after meeting him, the first member to have feelings for. A clean, shy smile, a not so energetic personality, a small frame, and a explosive voice. The entertainment circle is just what suits him.
Henry and Zhou Mi: No matter how hard it is, we still have to keep on walking
Putting them together last is because before I only knew them from the basic text descriptions. "Very Big Star" is the first time I saw them together.
A new member in Sj-M, this identity made them have a lot of attention when they debuted but of course there were dozens that were opposing. I asked an E.L.F one day, "Henry and Zhou Mi's debut was not their fault, don't you think blaming them is unfair?" She looked at me and said "Then who do you want me to blame?" Silence. When I was learning the criminal laws, the professor told us the first class that our punishment's objective is to calm down the angry people who got hurt. But in this case, SJ's fans got hurt but their anger doesn't help the real reason --- SM gets hurt. Being hurt is actually not that hard.
Both are really talented. Zhou Mi's singing/dancing and eloquence is really good. Henry's violin playing is really high-leveled. But these, under misunderstandings/gap, does not help for them, so they have to experience more of this. Before when 5566 came to promote their album, there was one song that I had a feeling for, it's actually describing 5566's journey, but it might give a lot of people support. The song's name is "My Back", the lyrics is like this: Hated the harsh gossips, the taunting never stopped, from hurt to no hurt.
From hurt to no hurt-- even though their (Henry and Zhou Mi) experience is far away from the lyrics, but if they kept this belief, the process might not be as hard.

Thank you
lots for posting this! I was completely ignored when I asked if anyone knew where the rest of the translations were, haha.
Their impressions were the same as the impressions I had for them, especially kyuhyun and siwon 8DD
I was totally protesting about having Henry and Zhoumi in the group when I first saw them, but now I just think Henry is plain adorable and Zhoumi's just funny. After watching his aegyo part I really wanna understand him better. Henry as well. I really didn't think that ZhouMi was the type to act cute haha

I hope I'll get to see more of them in the future.
As for moving the thread, just keep it as it is. It isn't really doing anyone really harm, and it's been here since the beginning so please just leave it.

Although I don't mind if it has to be moved. It doesn't really matter if not that many people visit this thread, since it's only SuJu M fans that visits it anyway, which means they'll find the way to this thread.

thank you for putting that up here. I think he nailed Kyu's character. At least it's similar from what i've always thought of Kyuhyun anyway. He always looks like the most intelligent person in the room
along with Kibum, somehow i always thought he and Bum are kinda similar personalitywise, i mean "high IQ, mellow voice, always the onlooker when there's something going on, in compared to the others he's shy---there's no way that this equals to the word "kid"" describes Bummie well too doesnt it, also explains why Wookie's the eternal magnae. They're both cheeky at the most unexpected moments too. just that Kyu does it more often. Kyu ilu like srsly.
and ditto on the kyusmile. childlike innocence (ahhhhh). it's the teeth i tell ya. his smile brighten up the room.
ok more sjm related: i love that song ME. the composition is different to the usual SM productions. can't wait to hear the korean version.
and i vote to move the thread. was there ever a case where you guys bend rules and leave a thread in the wrong section before? using 'i like celebrity photos section better' or 'this section has more visitors' (paraphrasing) just don't cut it. but that's just my opinion.
