IF you thought Back To Black was dark, wait until you hear AMY WINEHOUSE’s third album.
The troubled star has almost become a recluse since contracting an ugly skin condition and friends are terrified about her negative state of mind.
They say she has never been this low — and that she has been writing sinister song lyrics about death.
Again writing with MARK RONSON, Amy has played some of the new songs to pals.
They were impressed but disturbed by the moodiness of her follow-up to the eight million-selling Back To Black.
Some of the lyrics are so bleak that it is even being described as “suicidal music”.
A source said her skin complaint was dragging her mood down further and added: “Her next album is darker than ever. Amy’s got low self-esteem anyway but her skin has made her want to hide away from the rest of the world. And we have started noticing more and more cuts on her arms.
“Her problems are pushing her over the edge and she’s turning into a depressed recluse. It’s not good for her to stay in so much.
“People try to get her to leave the house and tell her not to worry about what people say. But she’d rather sit around her dingy flat all day writing about death.”
Despite the morbid nature of the new material, it’s sure to be a hit with fans. The source added: “She’s written quite a lot of the third album already.
“It is very, very dark but she produces some of her best music when she’s in pain — and the past few months have been hell for her.
“She might have all this fame and wealth but she’s never been so down as she is now.”
Divorce threats from husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL — in jail awaiting trial for assault and perverting the course of justice — aren’t helping matters.
Blake, who has been beaten up by fellow inmates, has been demanding Amy visit him in London’s Pentonville Prison for marriage crisis talks. A source said: “He’s having a hard time in jail because of who he’s married to and gets wound up because Amy keeps missing visits or gets turned away for being late.
“There’s no excuse for her to miss visits. We think she does it on purpose sometimes because she doesn’t want to see him.
“Amy’s real friends are hoping that he follows through with the threats to divorce her.”

I really hope she gets it together. One part of me wants her to keep making good music, but another part of me wants me to strap her down and slap all the foolishness out of her.
