Full Version: 12 Bar Blues Chord Progression

We just learned about the 12 bar blues chord progression in class today, and our homework is to bring in a song that uses this progression....

Here's a link to Wiki on 12 bar blues: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_bar_blues

I have no idea where to start looking! Almost all of my music is just kpop/jpop, and no song really comes into mind while I'm trying to think of one. I'm trying to go through the songs that I have and see if I notice the progression, but it's time consuming (I have a lot of music to go through- if I have to get through all of it, I won't finish until 5 years from now!) and I have other homework T_T

I posted in the other music section because, as I've seen someone else mention here, "other music" browsers tend to be more musically inclined and less idol-inclined than "korean music" people. But either kpop or jpop help would be great, I have a big collection of both.

On second thought, even non-Asian suggestions would be warmly welcomed. I'm sure I'll most likely be resorting to this anyway, haha~

Please help! And thank you very much ^___^

Thanks for your input, whoisemily! =] I'm going to go with the Batman theme that the wiki article mentioned, haha~
(editing the post so this doesn't get bumped for uninterested people, eheh)

you probably wont find 12 bar blues in pop music although it does use a lot of primary chords such as I IV and V
your best bet would be to look for some jazz music... or maybe some r&b
i can only name off one song i know for sure with 12 bar blues right now
the boy from new york city by manhattan transit
its an old song... like 60s or something o.o
but like everything in the progression is doubled... as in I is repeated 8 times and then IV 4 times etc
you could also look through sheetmusic if u hav any
its faster and easier than listening through music
hope i was of some help xD i just started learning this a couple months ago
