Which car would you choose?
IS 250 2006 model (automatic transmission) or 350Z 2004 model (manual transmission) ?
I'm stuck in between those two. I have to make up my mind before this Wed. I love to drive manuals but for safety wise and all I like the IS 250...bleh OPINIONS PLEASE

EDIT
Hmm..okay Well I ended up getting an IS 250 today and thanks for those that gave me opinions on those two cars. And to get things clear, I am not familiar with cars and all. (The fact that I came from Korea 3 months ago) I don't really know what to call that shiftable (+ and -) manual / automatic. I'm sorry for the confusion. And like I said below...I test drove 3 cars last week and It was a 2006 IS 250 that I bought, 2008 IS350, and the 350z. The 2006 did not have the shiftable manual but the IS 350 did so that's why I had said (manual) ..smooth and all.

Are you talking about the auto stick option? Paddle shift?
Those are for IS250s.
I've never seen a manual IS350.
But to answer the question, 350z!
IS250s are popping up all over the place

too common.

I'd go with the 350z.
And to the dude with the capslock key stuck:
Second generation: IS250 and IS350The larger, quicker, quieter second generation IS was introduced in October 2005, as 2006 models. Both featured new high-performance V6 engines with rear wheel drive; the IS250 had optional all wheel drive and a choice of a manual or automatic transmission. The IS350 came only with rear drive and an automatic, but used the new Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system, a more sophisticated and powerful stability control than used in the IS250. The chronograph-inspired dashboard was replaced with a more conventional unit, and the automatic gained steering-wheel paddles for upshifting and downshifting.
Safety features include front and rear side curtain airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, driver and passenger airbags, automatic locking retractors for all but the driver who got emergency locking retractors, seat belt pretensioners, front ventilated dsic brakes, tandom brake booster, four-sensor/four channel ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability control (or vehicle dynamics integrated management), tire pressure monitoring, impact beams and crumple zones, impact-dissipating and soft upper headliner and pillars. it depends on if you need/would like the backseat and more doors. since you have already narrowed it down to 2 choices test drive them both and see which car you like more. albiet the categories of the cars (sports car vs 'sporty' sedan) are a little different which may affect your final decision depending on your plans for the car. (ie project car or daily driver)
i personally chose the 350z because i did not need/want a backseat. and i am not sure how one could confuse 'sportronic' shifting with a 6MT...

If you have the money to waste on a car, go for the IS. The 350z have very crappy interior...wait thats all nissans....Unless your heart is set on the 350z and you are an enthusiasts, go get the IS.
Why not check out other cars? personally if its a Used car, and i have 24k to spend, I would jump all over the S2K. But the S2K isn't practical.
IS250 > 350z
S2K > 350z

I agree on the S2K > 350z and FD3s > All.
I would say go for the IS, its more of a daily driver car. The 350z is more a "sports car". There is a difference between a SPORTY and a SPORTS car. The IS should serve you better with the leather and all the other nice things inside. Girls would probably like to be in a IS over a 350z anyway.

He's making a suggestion for other peoples (non enthusiats).
And what is practical to one person may not be practical to the other, everyone has different needs. For example, I drive a miata, I think its one of thee most practical cars someone can buy.
I use it to commute from and to work, avg 30 miles a day. Gets about 28 mpg hwy. In the summer, can put the top down to get some sun on the way to work so I can wake up. I dont need much trunk space. In the winter, I slap on some winter tires and put the top on. I think its a great commuter car. Gets me from point A to point B, good on gas, $50 bucks insurance (liability) per month, no payments - car cost under 3k.

I drive an 2nd gen IS, and IS250's automatic have paddle shifters.... since the day it came out in late 05... and IS350 comes only in automatic.
As for for the number of people it can seat, other than short girls, and some friends thats still in highschool thats girls, and my mom who is a female (obviously), I have yet to be able to fit anyone with legs who is taller than 5'5 in my backseats when I have people in the front lol

Know that if you go the IS250 route, the cd changer is problematic .... I've read quite a few have died on people and getting it fixed costs an arm and leg. My poor mommy called me in full out panic mode last night cause her "car doesn't work anymore." I LOL'd and asked a few questions then she finally said the cd player is broken and she can't get her favorite cd's back out!

o I'm sorry...I don't drive a FD. I wish I had the money to get one and to upkeep it and some left over cash for a DD.
btw I said if your an enthusiasts get the 350z, otherwise it is impractical. Enthusiasts are different from regular drivers who only want a car to go from point A to point B.
Sure the FD is impractical towards the 350z, but I believe with the proper mods and care, the FD can hold its own against the 350z *practical wise =P*

pfft civics practical guru! unless you're driving a hybrid. small compact car with awesome gas mileage and easy to drive. only downfall is lack of space and power. but whos talking about performance here :X heh
