[Teen Times]GOD Ready to Fly High
Returning from a two-year-long hiatus, GOD has once again stormed to the top of the music charts.
Korea's finest boy band plans to advance into Japan and beyond. The Teen Times sat down to talk with the group about their aspirations and the upcoming live concert tour. Plus, the four lovely members all had a message to the readers of The Teen Times. Read on and find out what it is!
Question: You have recently been involved in many charitable events on TV like "Open Your Eyes (눈을 떠요)" on MBC and the "Special Concert with GOD (지오디의 특별한 콘서트)" on MTV. What was it like to take part?
Kim Tae-woo: It was truly moving. It's really exciting to see people find a new life though events like those. But in reality, there wasn't anything that we could do to help them. Still, we are invited to be part of the events because we are popular. I feel thankful for that.
Son Ho-young: As for the Special Concert With GOD on MTV, helping people realize their dreams quickly and easily is really rewarding. Playing Cupid for the guests is a wonderful thing and it was especially memorable.
Q: A recent poll asked the public which group they thought had the best teamwork, and GOD won. What's the secret?
Kim: We went through some tough times together and we are like family now.
Park Joon-hyung: Absolutely. The other members are like my brothers.
Q: The GOD live concert tour "GOD is back" kicks off soon. What can fans expect to see at your concerts?
Ahn Danny: It's our first concert since we finished the 100th concert two years ago. We have been aching to perform live on stage for a long time. I can assure fans that GOD will be dancing and singing like crazy.
Kim: The concerts will feature spectacular visuals along with our much-improved live singing. It's not just about singing and dancing. There will be much more than that.
Son: Yeah! GOD concert! A Variety Show!!
Q: These days many singers act in films and TV dramas. Are any members of GOD considering a career in acting?
Son: For the time being, we are all preoccupied with preparations for the concert tour and entering the Japanese market. But if we get a chance later, we would like to launch an acting career. We have acted in several sitcoms and enjoyed it a lot.
Ahn: Acting does attract us, but it is also very challenging. If we ever decide to do it, we won't just merely dabble in it. We'll take acting lessons and do it properly.
Q: GOD is making inroads into the Japanese market. Is there a special plan?
Park: It's more like the same. We will just present ourselves as we are rather than a contrived image. It's what we did here in Korea.
Kim: GOD is new to Japan. It's like when we started our careers in 1999. We are ready to do our best.
Q: What are your New Year's resolutions?
Son: The concerts will last until May. After that, we are planning to perform in Asia, especially in Japan. I hope our plans go well. And personally, I have been a bit sick recently. So I want to get well and stay healthy in 2005.
Kim: I hope that everything we do, like the concerts and our debut in Japan, is a success.
Park: Basically, the same thing. And I hope that everyone l love stays healthy. As we have been resting for the past two years, I want to make up for the time we were away.
Ahn: I would like to keep working throughout the whole year.
Q: Do you have any words of advice or encouragement for the readers of The Teen Times?
Park: Try your best at school. Study hard when you study, and play hard when you play.
Son: Think about where your talents lie and what you want to do in the future. And go for it!
Kim: Boys and girls, be ambitious! There is no hope or passion without dreams. Don't give up your dreams and try your best until you fulfill them.
Ahn: You are probably sick of school and having to study so hard. You probably want to grow up quickly. But study hard when you are young so that you won't have any regrets later on.
