Extreme crewPlanet B-boy: KoreaThis forum needs a bboy section because the Koreans are simply the best at breakdancing. And breakdancing, you could say, is pop. culture.

nah, korea is one of the best in the world. if you look at the Battle of the Year competitions which is like the world cup of bboying they've been going back and forth with France for the championship. Korea won in 2007,2005,2004, and 2002. USA hasn't won this competition since 1998, but they are still considered one of the elite countries of bboying. others are korea, france, and japan.

i don't think you can claim they're the best.
just one of the most competitive countries and has risen up pretty quickly.

korea's bboy is exponential

they are the world's best in technical.
in terms of originality, style, fluidity of movements.... there are others breaking crews that are on par with them or better.
but technique goes a long way

Why do people insist on labeling breakdancers by race??
There are good breakdancers from korea, usa, etc etc
and I bet half the people talking about "koreans are the best breakdancers"
don't know a thing about breakdancing and only limit themselves to korean break dancers

Well maybe they like to label it like that because its easier.
Yeah sure it's true that the worlds best breakdancers are Korean.
But it's just like the olympics, holy crap those koreans are amazing at speed skating. Last winter games I think a korean dude rocked the competition by a picking up a few gold medals in speed skating. So we label Korea as having the best speed skaters because the guy that raced for Korea represented the country for the Olympics.
Same way as these breakdancers are representing Korea. I think the people saying that Korean's are the best breakdancers are the ones basing everything off of world competitions and nothing more. The same way we label whoever country won a certain event in the olympics numerous amounts of times. For example, Canadian's have the best hockey players.

There are good hockey players from Sweden, Russia, America, etc, but by far through the history of hockey Canada has had the best hockey players.

Well i wouldnt say best but since 2001 they have been upping the game in move wise. But you forget bboying isnt pop culture, korea just made it that way. But Bboying been going back since even the late 70s when people in ny were figuring out top rock and another sector was figuring down rock. Kool Herc had figured out "breaks" so if you want to say most innovated and contributed the most would be USA hands down and i just named the very beginning. Thats why crews like rivers and even last 4 one have been going back to the roots and learning what they missed out before when they first came out to the bboy community. There can never be a best since there is so many sections of bboying that if you get down to the bottom of it theres no one at #1.

it's enjoyable watching them

Because they are not
no race is the best at bboying
every country has amazing bboys, very amazing people from europe, australia etc etc
just because they are not in the mainstream doesnt mean they are not good.

Korean bboys have made the most progress and IMO they have some of the best dynamics (power moves, etc)
They have a good bboy culture in Korea and receive alot of support which is good.
But as someone who has been bboying for roughly 11 years, you can't really say Korea has the best bboys. Hong 10 is very good and so is Born, I am sure there are many more but these two are the ones that really stand out. Physix has good dynamics but lately he hasn't looked all that great. The END has very good power moves and the stuff he does is amazing. But overall they don't excite me, they actually bore me. If you look at a crew like Rivers, they all look the same. It is very boring.
Watch bboys like Abstrak, Cloud, K-Mel, Megus, Lego, Rudy Goblin, you see something different from the these guys. FLAVA, it makes you want to dance. more than the dynamics, but you see that bboying is a dance, not just tricks, but from the top rock to the floor work, its dancing, and to me, that is what is incredible. Even Super Crew, they always bring it, they got originality and amazing energy. Ronnie is still one of the most well rounded bboys, Do Knock can dance like no other, RJ is just dope(FLAVA)

FYI Battle of the Year is not like the world cup or anything like that, a win there really does not mean much when it comes to which country has the best bboys. Bboying is international now. But I get it with the Korean Pride an all, I used to get a lot of flack for not supporting korean bboys more even though I am korean, but when it comes to bboying, I have to be real

haha koreans aren't the best anymore. Just take a look at the r16 competition from 2weeks ago in KOREA.
both gamblerz crew and rivers lost in the first round. gamblerz lost to holland and rivers lost to portugal.
In the end it was JAPAN that took the title. Japan is taken over people, All area crew is winning all the competitions lately...
btw:my first post xD
