Well like the title says,
I'm sure plenty of you have had a cool experience or a story with one of your favorite bands. A off chance run-in? A backstage pass? Maybe just a few precious seconds talking but enough for you to never forget?
I have one that involves "The Starting Line" hopefully someone knows them?
Anyway I was at a show in Hilton head on a Sunday. They had 4 openers and I only really liked one "Meriwether" (check em out) The show was so small the bar served both me and my friend beer and we were soooo not legal, they just didn't care. Anyway TSL had a great performance and Kenny at the end announced he was going to come mingle with the crowd afterwards and urged us not to be strangers. So, of course me and my friends got a picture with him and talked a little bit. He's a really friendly guy, and supposedly theres a rumor about his "smoking" habits that my friend Kevin just had to find out about. Soooo kevin asked him to smoke some, he replied that he couldn't on band time and maybe after autographs and what-not. So we waited and waited and since it was a sunday night and we had school we had to get going. Oh well maybe next time right?
Well as we left the club, not even 30 steps away we hear "hey guys! you ready?" freaking Kenny Vasoli standing right behind us. Hah you couldn't imagine how crazy a feeling that was. Anyway we got in my car and started lighting up. At the time I did smoke but I stopped for an untold amount of reasons. I'm glad I did it that night though. He had some great stories about members from a ton of great bands we knew, stuff about his personal life and just an all-around great guy. Anyway afterwards some groupies found us so we had to bail out quick and drop him off near the tour bus. he told us he had a great time and try to keep in touch.
You know in the movies where something awesome happens and you just sit there expressionless for a few seconds until you flip out when you fathom what just happened. Yeah it was exactly like that.
If you havent heard already he has a side-band called "Person L". all time favorite band ever. I recommend them to everyone I know.
