This is totally random but I'm just wondering, how do you usually greet people?
I'm sure we tend to be very polite around older people but around people our age,
do you guys say Hello? Yo dog? or anything like that?

Or do you have your own language ( by own language, I don't mean a real language) something
that you picked up or a word you invented by yourself.

And do you guys really greet people your age the formal way?
Like, before a conversation, you go, "Good evening, blablabla"?
Do you really do that?

x_TaintedLove

I greet people simply by saying 'Hey'
Pssh. I don't need some fancy shebang to make my greeting more outgoing.
YOURS2ENVY
Hello, hi, hey, sup.

Depending on how old and whether or not I need to be formal.
x SaRaNg HaE x
With people I'm comfortable with, "Aye yo!"
And with all else, "Hey."
¥ēllόЩ
I greet people with, Hey, Ello, (they're name !!!!)
winter.love
Hey! Good morning...and such.
But sometimes, if its a really good friend...a random topic
like 'Did you watch...?'
XD
vip_gd
I just wave, that's all.
hungrycollegeboy
To guys my age:
"Hey"
"Yo"
"What's up"
(all of the above usually followed by a handshake, or a nod of greeting)

To girls my age:
"Hi 'insert name here'"
(usually followed by a wave)

When meeting strangers my age and older:

"Hi, I'm 'insert my name here'" (usually followed by a handshake)
When they initiate by saying the above, I say "Likewise"

To people I know of higher status:
"Hello, professor."
"Hello, sir."
"Good morning/afternoon/evening 'insert status here'"
(These are usually only followed by a smile after the first meeting which is done with a handshake)

I dunno, to me handshakes are really important in terms of greetings. I was brought up that way.

"Sunshine!"

"Swisslock!"

"Teddy Ruxpin!"

MzLindur978
I say "hey." to people around my age, like school friends. "Hi." to older people and to people I don't really know.
Or "Yo." to the people I've known for a while and are close to.

It depends on who they are.
Friends - "hey"
Kids & people my age - "hi"
American elders - smile; if I were to say something, it would be "hello"
Korean elders - "ahn-young-hah-se-yo" and bow
Korean/American elders - "hey" or "hi", lol
Yeah, very typical, xD
EchoOff

i greet people with the plain o' "hey" in real life
and then on the computer, i'm usually like, "yo"

xiao jia
usually 'hi ____'!

if it's a prof, i'd go "hello prof. ____"

and for people i'm interested in, i'd probably come up with a (usually lame) pick-up line....
serre
I usually just go "hey, " and wave at them (if they're not close enough haha)
sometimes, I'll just smile and say 'morning' or something; online i'll go "hi, how are you?" xD
yeah, more polite online, huh? lol.
rufflezz
Usually I just wave then say hi. Or if I feel to be more 'fun' at the moment, I'd be saying something totally different. hahah
luven-you
With people I'm close with, I say 'heyy' or 'what's up'.

With people I'm not close with, I just wave and say 'hi'.

Hi, hey, hello, goodmorning/day/afternoon!, what's up/new?

I try to be polite as possible to elder people. Well, I was taught to treat them that way. But most of the time, I just smile to the people I don't really know of..
**ThatGirlPhuong
*Cross arms & bow*
"Chao bac/chu/tiem/anh/chi/co/cau/etc etc"

No I'm kidding ahah That's only for the Vietnamese adults.

Usually just a "hey" or I go straight to the questions "Did you do.." "Did you see.." etc etc

My teachers I usually say "Hi/Hello (Title)" or "Good morning/afternoon (Title)" with a wave haha
mango-iee
I greet my friends and people around my age:
"Morning (even though it's not morning anymore xD) guys."
&
"Hey guys"
"Hiya ~ "

But to my parents or my relatives / elders:
"Chao di/chu/co/" <- Vietnamese greetings.
&
"Xin chao." smile.gif
jeffword
I said "Whats good"
When I'm with my casual friends, but when it comes to
recently met people or formal affairs,
I say

"Pleased to meet you" or "Charmed" :3
SHaZZy
Friends: <name> + wave
Teacher: Excuse me, <teacher's name>
Elders eg. family friends, strangers: I usually just bow and smile.
